  1. Hmmm.... just like Sevier County did? I really hope the McMinn throws the ball around, we could use the work.
  2. I think they are farther along at this point. It really helps to have an experienced QB leading the offense. What makes that impressive is that we have 7 first year starters on offense and 8 first year starters on defense. So I have to agree with ArtVandalay and say we are better this year.
  3. Look for James Mitchell #44, Middle Linebacker. He broke the all-time leading tackles record while still a Junior. He anchors a pretty tough defense.
  4. Is it just me or are some of the button colors changing from day to day? BTW, I like the changes, thanks for your efforts to improve the online experience.
  5. I thought both articles were interesting. No, the title is right, the article is about the Cherokee offense. Don't know why, but that is what the paper decided to write about. Again, looking forward to a good game. I'll be with the tailgaters early. Go Cats!!
  6. Not this year. Soddy has too many weapons and Heritage not enough. While Heritage is improved this year, I say Soddy 24 - Heritage 7.
  7. Here are link to a couple of articles on Friday's game: From the Oak Ridger: Wildcats must contend with strong McMinn Co. offense From the Daily Post - Athenian: High-octane Wildcat offense test for Tribe defense Go Cats!!
  8. This game will be a huge win for the Owls. Bradley Central is really struggling right now. In fact, a major task for Ooltewah will be to not lose their intensity for the next game. Bradley Central could not have been a worse opponent to face before we played DB. 56-0 Ooltewah.
  9. From what I have heard, we have a healthy amount of respect for McMinn, especially on defense, even though you all have struggled this season. We are used to teams that struggle against others and then bring their "A" game against us. If you are wondering whether or not we are looking ahead, all of the talk this week has been about the Cherokees. This is pretty focused group of guys right now. Like others have said I want to see both teams play hard and hope that no one gets hurt. Go Cats!!
  10. Even though the game was in the middle of Ivan, I thought that Heritage looked to be in a lot better condition than Heritage teams of the past. It may take Coach Rewis a little longer to make a winner, but I could tell right away that he has had a very positive impact on Heritage's football program. Good luck HHS on the rest of your season.
  11. Is there really a lot to hide anymore in Football? Everything I have posted has been straight out of the papers. That information is nothing compared to what both teams have on each other due to film. I don't know many coaches who scout other teams on Coacht. However, it is a great fan site!
  12. Not everyone, Bighurt. The fact is that some privates recruit and some publics recruit. Most schools don't. BTW, I'm using recruit is the illegal TSSAA sense of the word. I wouldn't be surprised if some publics recruited athletes from private schools. It happened all of the time where I was from. Sorry Stan, as far as the separation goes, it IS a middle TN problem. We would have no seperation if it weren't for BA's success in 5A football. That 1 instance is the cloud that hangs over this issue.
  13. Recruiting, or at least the perception of it. The problem with the "charge" of recruiting is the definition. For some, just the fact that you are a private school and advertise for students means you recruit. I would counter that many communities do the same through their industrial boards and business associations. Do we even try to outlaw such "recruiting" or divide the state into so many divisions that a state championship is meaningless? I hope not. I am still in favor of abolishing Div II and putting everyone back together again. Why? I think we are witnessing the rise of suburban football powers like those that are currently dominating GA football. If you people think it is hopeless that a public school system can compete favorably with a school that offers financial assistance, think again. 15 years ago, Gwinnett County football was nothing in the state of GA. Now, it is the envy of the state. What made the difference? Money, and lots of it. Also, the decision just over 15 years ago to divide the county into zones with their own elementary, middle and high schools. This decision provided the schools with the stability to enable their sports programs, including football, to thrive. As certain area of Tennessee grow and become more affluent, you will see more resources flow into successful public schools because those parents will demand that they succeed (or be the best). BTW, in 1993 Parkview H.S. in Lilburn GA was ranked #1 in soccer and in the top 5 in baseball, but the football team was perenial losers. Kind of reminds me of a certain school in West Knoxville. I think that the people who insist on a seperation, do so based on a status quo that is quickly disappearing. For you central TN people, is Nashville becoming more or less like the Atlanta metro area?
  14. The DB crowd was awesome. Yes, I hope we take care of business, so we can meet again at the 'Ship. As far as McMinn, I thought they played us pretty straight up last year, even though it was a disappointing loss to them. I like our chances against the Cherokees since they are a run oriented team and that plays right into our strength. Go Cats!
  15. Speaking of game preparation, the local paper in Athens said that the Cherokees have gone back to the basic wing-t offense for last week's game. Does that mean we will see a lot of double wing like we did last year? I remember last year that little screen to Milsaps was the best play that McMinn ran against us. Does McMinn have a passing game?
  16. We should bring a very good crowd. It might be a little down because our band will be off to a competition However, we travel well. I'm glad the McMinn community is supporting their team in tough times. I am looking forward to a good game; probably not as lopsided as the non Oak Ridgers have been writing about. If we get the line play like we got last week, then I like our chances.
  17. ...which is about as ugly as ugly gets.
  18. It may be a tough game, but Maryville seems to be playing with a lot of focus at this point in the season. If Mr. Thompson is on then I see this one getting out of hand early. I say Maryville in a close one, 42-7. Gotta agree with RebelRaider on this one.
  19. Come on guys, you are getting a little personal here, don't get the thread locked. Looking forward to coming down and experiencing the best visitor's section in E. Tennessee and watching the Cats roll.
  20. I think he's got E. Tenn confused with greater Knoxville.
  21. We have 2: Jake Vane #42 and Leonard Blair #45.
  22. So, was Oak Ridge the last team to beat McMinn Co. on their home field?
