  1. Ok, time to talk about the game this Friday at the fabled "Nest." Looking forward to a great game; I thought last year's was a classic. I haven't heard much from the Owl fans who have been quite vocal over the past several weeks. I don't know much about the Owls this year except they have had a tough rebuilding season. I am looking for the Wildcats to get back on track with the offense and continue to improve on an already awesome defense. My prediction 28-7 Wildcats
  2. Last night at Oak Ridge Oak Ridge JV 43 Farragut JV 12 Oak Ridge Freshmen 21 Farragut Freshmen 6 Both teams are undefeated in regular play. The Freshmen Cats will play in the Championship Nov. 1 at McMinn Co. Go Cats!!
  3. I think that Soddy will pull one out at the end; 21-17.

Sigh...... So the season goes, frankly, for the past 3 games I have purposefully delayed the new posts of the upcoming games to tone down the rhetoric. As far as the game is concerned, I think you will see a very focused team. Our defense, which is never talked about, is our strength right now. The last 3 scores from the past 2 teams have been scored or set up by offensive turnovers. We need to turn that around with this game. Again, I expect a hard fought game; we have brought out the best in most teams, especially on defense. I hope there will be lots of OR fans like the other road games we played.

Corey should be available for the Ooltewah game. I think by now the Cats realize that everyone will bring their "A" game. As far as motivation, I think one team this year that the Cats would love to beat are the Owls of Ooltewah. It not only is for the region championship outright, but a chance to reassert themselves as THE team to beat in Region 2. Will this be a tough game? You betcha, I predict that Ooltewah will play the best game of the year against us. As far as my prediction, I'll pick us by 2 touchdowns 21-7. Defense dominates again. Willie, Hope to meet you at the game.
  6. Tribefan, Having seen both teams play, I would that WB handles special teams better than any school we have played so far, including McMinn Co. They are especially efficient in kick-off return yardage. I see the game as a close defensive battle; neither team will be able to run the ball much. The difference, in MHO, will be the passing game. Which team will be able to make the plays through the air that would win the ballgame. That was the key for us in both our wins over McMinn and WB.
  7. Maybe one rule change would be to elimate the rule that a student must sit out a year if that student transfers from a private to public school.
  8. ELA, I know in TX they are separated, but why? Certainly not because Dallas Christian beat the pants off Lufkin every year, probably the opposite was the case. The problem I see with the split is that it really does dilute the competition. As for zoned or open-zoned, just wait, school choice will come to TN as well and everyone will be open-zoned. Perhaps it is our backgrounds that make a difference, I'm from Illinois where everyone plays everybody. I've lived in AR, GA and FL, where everybody plays everybody, albeit, GA has the multiplier. I still find the idea of a total split to be silly.
  9. wow, I hope you guys dont hurt um to bad but I beleave that this will be a blow out. I wish you luck and I hope your injuries heal soon. Sunshine says #23 43-6
  10. It's good to know that our defensive is being overlooked, again. So far the only offensive to score more than 1 touchdown on us was DB. I know the offensive gets most of the attention, but I like how the defense has improved over the year.
  11. Educate me since I am new here, what were the sanctions? I know this is somewhat off topic, but I see the recruiting rules (or lack thereof) as a major part of the problem.
  12. Here are some links from both teams' last games: Farragut Cleveland Daily Banner Oak Ridge Oak Ridger For your pregame reading pleasure.
  13. Too many financial aid students, Stan? You must mean greater than 0. If that was against the rules of the TSSAA, then sanctions should have been levied. I too coacht, wished that putting Div II back together was one of the options. Of course in the state of Tennessee that would be viewed as naive, in the rest of the country that would standard operation procedure. Coacht you are close to the answer, but the problem is not private schools but small public schools. Why hasn't there been a proposal to seperate them into a separate division? Why does the TSSAA insist that all classes be equal in number instead of looking for more logical groupings?
  14. Getting back to page one. Looking for the Cats for refocus and play their game.
  15. A WB win would sure make things interesting for the playoff picture. Should be a tough game. I thought that WB defensive line was the best we have seen all year. Probably a low scoring game, but I will take McMinn again with the home field advantage by 7, 14-7.
  16. A little on the red on red... First time in a long time we have won red on red. According to my son who is on the team, it will be a long time when we wear it again. The Cats lost the last time we wore it.
  17. Catwatch, You do crack me up sometimes.... Remember the toss sweep was on 4th down and Booker was tackled in bounds fighting all the way. The toss sweep certainly ate up more time than taking a knee which would have given WB at least an extra play. Let's talk about the next game and yes, WB has a chance to to finish 2nd in the Region. Definitely, a better team than McMinn if they play like they did against us.
  18. Ok, I'll jump in here. I think you all are missing the point. The point here is an attiitude that only resides in Tennessee and the Florida Panhandle. That is Private Schools have a built-in, never-to-be-overcome advantage over public schools of the same size, no matter where they may be, rural or urban. Coming recently from outside of this state, it is a disgrace that COACHES would have this attitude. That said, the real problem is that small TN public schools are real, real small. I'm suprised that no one has looked into forming a "real small" public school division, (<200) students, and then divide the rest of the schools into equal classes. That way the Coalfields, Oakdales, and the Sunbrights of the world can compete on their level. (Which btw, is great competition. I've seen it in person and I love it.) That at least, is a better way than branding privates as cheaters.
  19. Time to start the discussion on the upcoming game with the Admirals of Farragut High. Farragut is on a roll and the Cats are coming off a lackluster performance against William Blount. Should be an awesome game. Last year was down to the wire with Adam Black perserving the win with a game ending interception. I have not heard much from the Farragut fans so far this year, so let's start talking about the big game. My prediction 28 - 14 Oak Ridge.
  20. Sorry TC.... Just letting a little more time go by before I start the thread on the Farragut game. I thought we might have started that a little early last week.
  21. Back from the game.... First, my hats off to the Governors of William Blount. They not only came to play, they came to win. Make that first down in the 4th Quarter and it is all over baby. Wojo played his usual great game against us. Yes, Gov fans I will admit when I am wrong, but I was wrong. However, a win is a win. We just can't come out and play like that against any of the remainder of our opponents and expect to win. I will be back later with more comments....
  22. No, Hatch, just confident, and prepared. Looking forward to a good game at the "ship."
  23. Here we go for my picks... 1. Oak Ridge 2. McMinn County 3. Soddy Daisy 4. Farragut We should keep this thread open over the coming weeks. The battle for the playoffs should be very interesting, especially if Heritage and Bradley Central could knock off a few more teams.
  24. I know I'm not a Maryville Fan, but how can anyone this side of "3 yards and a cloud of dust" say that being beat by 28 is running up the score? The way the rebs are playing, I would say that Maryville was quite merciful. BTW, I don't think you can accuse anyone of running up the score when they score less than 50 pts. in a game. I wish the best for the Rebs; beat Central and run the table again!
  25. No, I still think McMinn is the better team. Of course, if Soddy gets the victory then good for them. As for looking ahead, the only game we know is William Blount. Every game in its turn. Of course, for both teams this is a critical game that could decide who makes the playoffs.
