  1. Football gets two weeks.................Spring Football Practice. Baseball softball will loose open facilities throughout the year, not be allowed to start throwing until a set date in Janurary and can't have more than 50% of a team from the same team in AAU. They are not just hammering on football. If you think they are, then you are just looking through rose-lensed glasses. When did June become football season? Schools are practicing three and four nights a week for passing league then playing in tournaments on the weekends. This goes on from the start of June till pads are put on. Everyone will be on the same playing field. Every team has to play by the same rules. No team is getting an edge. TSSAA is not going to attack its money maker (football). Read the whole proposal and look at it openly, not just as a fan of one sport or another.

    Rainouts?

Westmoreland @ Trousdale County has been postponed till Wednesday if possible. Start time will remain at 4:30PM.
  3. Great day as it turned out. Rain held off. Teams got great work & had a great time. Scores were no indicator. Thanks to all teams who participated.
  4. TC lost to FRA in 1991 34-0 Was in week 3 of regular season. Haven't been shut out since. 209 games going into Friday's game
  5. I played for Coach Smith in 93. Awesome guy. Used to chew twist tobacco and tell stories of WWII. Knew my granddad and great-uncle from Texas. Called me Beans b/c that is what he called my great-uncle. I would like to say hi. Does he have an email address? I would love to drop him a line.
  6. TC dressed out 23 players and put the oil cans in when the score reached 21-0. TC intercepted passes for TDs, ran the ball and their backs were never tackled. What do you tell a kid, "When you break loose, fall down."? If my kid was a bench player or I was that player and I got into the game, I am going to "Play the game". I remember being a freshman and getting in the game at QB, I was hoping the coach would let me throw it because that is why I work hard all year. Trust me, you guys see a score and it looks like Andre Ware at the controls but this is not the case. RBS elected to not run the clock, used all their timeouts, and continued to throw the ball. Oh yeah, that is total crap about letting linemen play RB or QB, or letting players play different positions for fun. If I was the coach on the opposite sidelines, I would take that as an insult more than straight up 91-0. I'd be danged if a coach told me to lay down b/c we were winning big. I would be ticked if my coach punted on 1st down and not let me play the game. The bottom line is TC catches crap about things like this. TC took their starters out up 21-0 a few weeks back against Mt. Juliet Christian and the score ended up 63-0. Hey, those bench players are next year's starters or starters in two years. They need to play, not go out and punt on 1st down or lay down on a run. I am sorry it happened for the staff at TC. They work their tails off every day for seven days a week. Yes, I said seven days. They never enjoy things like this b/c putting all that time in for a game of 50 points is not fun (unless it is Macon or Smith) HA HA HA!!! especially 91-0. So if you think they were over on the sidelines getting a big chuckle, guess again. RBS could have done just as much as TC to help keep the score down. It was just one of those freaky things.
  7. With 9 region games FRA was the only team that would play a home and home series with TC. Would you please give examples of teams that they schedule b/c they know they'll dominate? In 3A Smith, Macon, Portland, and Livingston all had at least one win over TC. DO you think TC should have packed up and headed to Chatt. to play Boyd? What good would have come from it? It costs lots of money to rent a bus and feed players on that type of trip. That is what the playoffs are for. I guess you loaded privates think that its no big deal to drive accross the state for non region games. Trust me, TC coaches and fans don't get too fired up to play Red Boiling Spr.. They are doing it b/c they are in that region. One loss to CPA..........one. Two losses to DCA over the years (since 1988). One loss to FRA. Two losses to BGA whom TC scheduled for regular season games (I think 4 consecutive years) during the Troy Fleming days. What non region games do they schedule that are cake walks? Do you guys have rivals? Macon and Smith are rivals that go back to the begining of time. Why not play those people? Getting teams on the schedule is not as easy as writing the names on paper. Things have to match up. Maybe turning down Brent. Acad. for a regular season game is about the only team I can think of. But would you? Why does private schools only schedule other private schools for non region games? Look at the schedules of privates. They play privates in non region games 90% of the time. Got any information on that? Hey I remember TC playing Marshall Co., Giles Co., Hazelwood, AL (If you know nothing about that school, then take time and look it up.), Mullenberg, KY, Allen Co., KY, Russellville, KY, and some school that was near Missouri in non region games. What do you want, Riverdale or De La Salle? How about Permian High in Texas? You pay the ticket, they might do it. Oh, what about Memphis Univ. School or even USC? Finally, if your "Community" high school was 1A enrollment, are you telling me you wouldn't play in that class? Heck ya avoid the privates. The article in the Tennesseean today set things for me again. I don't have anything against private schooling, but when you discuss athletics, the field isn't level. CPA hiring Lamanski Hall as Strength Coach? What public school with that size enrollment can do that? I'll tell you.......NONE!!! Notice any of the former NFL players coaching at a public school? Why? How many of them are state certified to teach in a classroom? Got to go. Kickoff in an hour. It takes me double time to wash both of my heads from the mutation that TVA gave me.
  8. PUJO.................................Idiot comes to mind. BUCS4LIFE...................................Idiot again comes to mind. Where do you guys get info such as if youer enrollment drops over two years you can go back down in classification? TC went to 3A for this reason and this reason only.....................TC was going to fight for 2nd or 3rd in the region going into the first year of AA. We knew Lipscomb and Goodpasture were the ones to beat, so the theory is.................they bring NO money and TC is playing for third. Jump to 3A, get the old rivals back, make tons of money at the gate, and have an atmosphere that was awesome. Was it to escape the private schools? When you talk cash it was. Was it fear of losing? I really don't think so. TC has always played up in non-region games. Look back all the way through 1990. I bet the only non region 1A game was with FRA which TC played 4 times (TC had 3-1 record). TC had to play numerous games with out of state opponents. I never heard the phone ringing with the privates on the other line.
  9. In 2000 CPA had how many D-1 players playing that night? THey were a great team and dominated folks. The SP/TC matchup would be another great chapter in a series that could be easily made into a book. Hey, that may be an idea. Who would buy it? I played SP twice in the semi-finals(93-94) and both games could have went to TC and both could have went to SP. The 98 game was a classic. SP had an absolute stud in Moore and Payne played the single best game I have ever seen at TC, and I have seen a few. The 99' game seemed to be about breaks and TC had some chances but that Honda-powered tailback that stood about 5 ft. tall let it ride in high gear. CPA is the Buffalo Bills of Class A. The late 90s was supposed to be dominated by the Lions but TC seemed to change in the phone booth and out came the Dallas Cowboys, NY Giants, or the Washington Redskins. I actually hated that for Jim Kelly. I wish he could have gotten one. What about 2001 & 2002? What if TC was where they should have been, Class A? The enrollment was figured at a time when the numbers went up just over the cutoff. A few months later the figures were back down to the 1A level. I would have loved to had a shot at Scott Smith's Ezell team in 01. They had some great athletes. It would have been fun. The 02' team I don't think would have been touched in 1A. Satt, TT, and Co. would have had a field day. I will say that playing in 3A was tons of fun. It seemed week in and week out we had our team staring down the barrel of a loaded hand cannon and our guys seemed to always be right there in the mix. If you think CPA would have touched Fulton or Ridgeway that year, you need to put down the pipe. They looked like the mid-80s LA Lakers running that west coast fast break with Magic dishing off an ankle breaker to Worthy who went in two hands and smiled at the cameras as he wiped off those goggles. I'm looking forward to the weather cooling off, listening to Murphy act like he knows 350 plus teams (kinda reminds me of Beno Cook), eating some grilled burgers (no better concession stand than Grundy Co.), listen to ceratain mid-state radio announcers blame every bad moment on the refs or someone other than their own team, and watching some moments that make high school football fun to watch and participate in.

Trousdale County took a major blow when sophomore shortstop and leadoff hitter Matt Sloan was lost probably for the season with a torn Ulna Collateral Ligament and muscle in his right elbow. Westmoreland will be as good as they have been the last few years. Lutrell has Watertown motivated. Gordonsville will be better and Mt. Juliet Chr. has a ton of tenth year seniors b/c it seems as if they have played that long at that school.
  21. I just want to say thanks to Lou Warner of Warner's Athletic Construction of Murfreesboro. He and his top man "Big Dave" cam into Hartsville and gave us one heck of an overhaul. Lou spent three days here b/c of weather when he didn't have to and we are forever greatful. He amazed me with his ability to not use lazers or other high tech equipment. If any of you are wanting some work done on your field, Lou is your guy. Awesome guy. It seemed as if we knew each other for ten years. Thanks again. Trousdale County Baseball thumb
  22. Let Gallatin's Scott Hunt take off his hat. It makes me wear my Oakleys at night games. That can decoy signs any day. Bowers is an awesome guy. I guess it's something about those Cumberland guys. 2005 is offically here. Breakout the knuckle sauce and open those new boxes of hand gernades!! thumb
  23. In the last line I said public kids are mostly smarter and...... I meant to say that private kids are mostly smarter and more disciplined which makes them easier to coach sometimes.
  24. I'll answer your question. Why have privates been successful? First it's about support, I mean behind the scenes at home. The same reason why public school classrooms struggle. Privates have a support base at the house and they support their child no matter the neeed ot the want. Then the private people have cash which means they donate $$$$ and efforts towards facilities. Parents of privates don't stand in food stamp lines. They own construction companies, plumbling companies, industrial engineering companies, doctors, lawyers, and other good jobs. They use those resources to get their children what ever is going to help them improve on the game field. Last thought........Many private school studdents who play sports go to camps to get better. Camps are not free. It takes sacrifice on the parents.............it all goes back to support systems. Are they wrong for that? I don't think so. If public schools have it, they use it just like anyone would. Also, public kids are mostly smarter and more discilpined and morre driven towards a goal which makes them easier to coach sometimes.
  25. Here is an old song and dance for ya HOG EYE 6 Time State Champion (1 all class, 1 AA, 4 A) 3 Time state runner-up (all AA) made state title game apperance four straight years (72,73,74,75) Won 4 state titles in one decade (90s) 18th consecutive playoff apperance Of those 18, only three have not made at least Quarterfinals played in 10 semifinal games won more games than any other region opponent in head to head since move to AAA. Being a A enrollment, will win more AAA region titles than you over the time of our stay in AAA. Would you like to have that dance again and again and listen to that same old boring song? thumb
