There has only been 2 state champion Alcoa teams to beat Maryville and go 15-0 and that was 89 and 00. I played on the 2000 team and we were a very fast and smart but not very big. The 89 team was big, fast, and smart, They'd have to be the best team I've seen, but the 00 team could match their speed. The reason I don't put the 05 team on the list is because they went 14-1 and they're secondary couldnt match up with with the 89 or 00 teams. And the 89 team was ranked 24th in the espn/usatoday national poll! 89 00 05

You are right about this. I remember the send off when I was in elementary and the basketball team was going to the state tournament. I was so excited to see Al Davis, Micah Marsh, and the the rest of the Alcoa team. There's nothing like that as a young Alcoa fan. My nephew is only 7 yrs old and he is so excited to watch his big cousin Cobb play tonight. Cobb gave him one of his gloves yesterday at the send off and my nephew even slept with the glove last night. He looks up to Randall and his uncle and he will hold all Alcoa's track records when he gets in high school. Honestly I believe he'll be faster than me, and he's pretty good in football also! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Don't let Alcoa's numbers confuse you and think they're evenly matched. What the stat sheet doesn't show is Alcoa has most of their yards in just 2 quarters of play. I believe the only game the starters have played all 4 quarters was the Maryville game. They've played some 3rd quarters but not many, so these numbers could easily be doubled! If GP thinks they can match up with Alcoa's athletes and speed then you're gonna be in for a big surprise!

What can GP show us that we haven't already seen? That wing-t all game aint gonna cut it on Friday! Yall better try to pass the ball and get it down field or it will be a very long night for GP! We know it's a new year and that it's a different team, but I still don't see GP beating Alcoa! You just make sure to show up on here after the game! Alcoa by 28!!

I agree and I thought DCA would be much bigger across the board. To me they looked like a really good 1a team, but wasn't physical enough to keep up with Alcoa. I was very surprised at the DCA team. I was nervous all week and thought they'd be the 2nd toughest game we'd play, but they let me down. Great season though.

All 3 games will be won by East Tn teams! West and Middle will be 0-3 without a doubt!

Harper is no Randall Cobb and you all will see the difference on Friday night! I hope GP's secondary can run or it's gonna be a long night for you guys.

Great post! Many teams think Alcoa has no class and are cocky until they actually play them. Alcoa never talks trash to the other teams and the players are very humble. They're very disciplined now that Rankin is here and they respect all opponents. We appreciate the credit you have givin us and congrats on a great season!

From what I've been told Harper was shut down by GP last night. Did that game hurt his chances of winning Mr. Football? I truly believe Cobb will win and is the BEST player in 2a!! good luck to all

hahahah, I like that one. yeah their offense is pretty boring to watch. I can't stand that 2 yrds and a cloud of dust stuff. I like our explosive weapons and fast pace offense. If GP thinks that wing t will be able to out score Alcoa then they're in for a long night!

What!! was it even in the 90's when we were losing 5 and 6 games?? Was it even when we weren't making the playoffs? you didn't hear us crying and saying that other teams recruited? I'm telling you now you can take All of Alcoa's home, grown athletes and line them up with your teams finest athletes and I guarantee Alcoa would dominate!! You got it twisted if you think we don't breed athletes in Blount Co. No one had a problem with us when the big time colleges weren't looking at us. I can tell you now if the recruiting process was like it is today when I played you'd really think we recruited!! We had 7 make all-state and had more speed than a track team!!
