  1. Hey Bledsoebtheboys, you must be on something really good for you to think that Marion got lucky last time. BLEDSOE IS NOT AS GOOD AS THEY HAVE BEEN MADE OUT TO BE!!! Face it, it's the truth. Now, the basketball girls are a different story, but anyway. The last game was a very good game, and everyone is right on here when they say that NEITHER team lit it up with the bats!!! Marion brought is game and ya'll didn't. It is a new game this time, and if ya'll win, Congratulations, but East Ridge will still beat you around the diamond.
  2. Who does everyone think will earn All-District honors? I think that either East Ridge's Tiffany Baker or Marion County's Sarah Griffith will earn MVP. What does everyone else think?
  3. I thought that Bledsoe was hosting the District this year? I know that is what was decided at the beginning of the season. Just wondering? This should be an awesome tournament this year!! Does anyone know who made All-District?
  4. Since it is very obvious that no one from Bledsoe County is going to post about the game, I will have to start it! Marion beat Bledsoe tonight behind the stellar pitching of Sarah Griffith (0 runs, 0 walks, 10(+) strikeouts, and only 1 error) and a very well-balanced defense. This means that Marion secured the second seed in the upcoming District Tournament. Bledsoe did not look anything like what I have been hearing. I guess getting beat in all of those tournaments doesn't help, huh? Bledsoe only had three baserunners all night (one was an error, another was a very good bunt single, and the other was a rip down the first base line which ended up in a triple when she should have been out). Marions second baseman (Jama Frederick) was the cutoff man and when the girl rounded second, she already had the ball. She threw a rope to the third baseman (Brittany Paris) and the ball was clearly there about three feet before the runner was, but the umpire called her safe. When she tried to steal home, Marion County catcher Sarah Nunley basically threw herself over homeplate to save the run and get the girl out. She was not gonna let a run score tonight! Marion scored on two passed balls behind the catcher (Jennifer Spangler and Sarah Nunley). This is a big boost for Marion heading into next weeks District Tournament, which also takes place at Bledsoe.
  5. At least Marion's coach doesn't look like a MAN!!!!!!

    Marion

Marion was undefeated until tonight when they lost to East Ridge 13-0. They are 10-1, and 5-1 in the District 6-AA standings. Marion basically fell apart tonight. They did not play up to what they are capable of. East Ridge is a VERY VERY good team, but it should not have been 13-0. The rumors are true, though, that ERRORS WILL COST YOU A BALLGAME!!!
  8. Not to take away from Grundy's overall game, because it was a very good one, but if Marion had actually hit the ball like they usually do, it would have been over in 5 innings. Marion wanted to beat Cassi Kilgore so bad that it kinda got in their way, and didn't play their "A" game. Griffith was ON FIRE tonight!!! Striking out 22 batters out of 30 is not bad at all. Grundy's Kilgore hit three of the Lady Warriors tonight, being Sarah Griffith, Sarah Nunley, and Jennifer Spangler. She also pitched a very good game and handled the pressure very well of having to play her former team for the first time. But, in the end, she didn't have what it took to win the game. Good Luck to the Lady Yellow Jackets the rest of the season. See ya in Jasper!!!
  9. Hixson is definatly not the Hixson team of the past. I believe that Marion or Bledsoe will have the #2 seed in the District. Marion is 7-0 today after whipping Arts and Sciences 13-1 in 5. Sarah Griffith got the win, again!!! She had eight K's in 9 batters (I think). Sophomore Jennifer Spangler started pitching in the 4th, and kept up the dominance for Marion. The Marion-Bledsoe games should decide who is #2, but East Ridge better watch out for the VALLEY this year, because we are not messing around!!!
  10. Marion beat Whitwell 10-0 behind the pitching of Sarah Griffith. She had 12 K's and gave up 1 hit (if I'm not mistaken). Whitwell did not look like the Whitwell teams of the past though. I think they made 10 errors and most of the errors were made on fly balls. Marion took control in every aspect of the game. They were heads up on base running, they played AWESOME defense, and are really proving what they can do. First year coach Shasta Gatlin is showing exactly what made her one of the best to ever play the game at Marion County High School.
  11. I am so glad that East Ridge beat Hixson for the District 6-AA Championship. To anyone who has to play Hixson in the Region, watch out for the umpires. Ask any team around Chattanooga, and they will tell you that you will not get a call if you are playing them. They are arrogant and they come into every game thinking they are the best in the state. SORRY, NOT A CHANCE!!! When they were playing Marion County in the District tournament, they were worried. They had to bring in their "stud" pitcher because they wern't worrying about the Lady Warriors. They beat them 4-3, but they certainly didn't deserve it. So, to anyone who plays Hixson, KICK THEIR WILDCAT BUTTS BACK HOME!!!!!
  12. I think that Kelly Merrell (Chattanooga State), Christi Hampton (Motlow State-Carson Newman), Jennifer Springs (Univ. of Tennessee), Shasta Gatlin (Tennessee Wesleyn-Carson Newman), and Ashley Witcher of Marion County High School, and Jadryen (Tennessee Tech) and Jillyen Layne (Chattanooga State) of Sequatchie County High were some of the best in the area when they played. Every one of these girls, except Gatlin, played on the same traveling summer team, and were very competitive at that level. Layne was an awsome shortstop at SCHS, and her sister was equally awesome at catcher. They both earnd All-State honors. The five Marion County girls were some of the best girls, on and off the field, that I have ever been in contact with. Merrell could cover an outfield by herself, but with Hampton with her, very few balls dropped in the outfield. Springs and Gatlin both played shortstop, but Springs could play anywhere the coach put her, and played the position with tenacious defense. Witcher was honestly one of the best catchers I have ever watched play the game. She knew exactly what to do with the ball in every situation. Very rarely did she let a ball get past her. I just wanted these girls to be recognized along with the others!
