  1. nodoubt, you nailed it. some are as tough as they used to be but some arent because they dont wanna be.they arent dedicated to the idea of "team". to me the team comes first, before an injury or before a scholarship. the post made about an inner city kid trying to get out of a bad neighborhood on a scholarship. i'll by that. but a kid can play with a broken hand or something like that as long as its not a leg or head injury usually it will heal and wont hurt your performance. and if im a college coach im looking for a guy that is willing to play hurt. it shows heart. i think trainers are a good idea if they know what they are doing. some trainers will think an injury is way more serious than it is and cost a player a few games when he shouldnt have missed more than 1.but some trainers are very good at what they do. and i think most kids know when they are hurt and when they are injured, you should know your body well enough to tell the difference. "if you can walk, you can play."

    Westmoreland

catsfan you just said it all about westmoreland buddy.thanks for the compliment.what year did you graduate? they started a freshman qb against greenbrier the starter and back up were hurt, injurys will kill westmoreland this year as usual not much depth. i think there season depends on how they play in close games. with houston co. turning things around and east robertson being as big as they usually are (i will assume) and also having a great running back its gonna be hard to make the playoffs. but i think they can do it if they work hard and get a few breaks it can be a good year. in about another 3-4 years i expect westmoreland to have some really good years. i like several of there young kids and a few of the middle school kids could end up being really athletic to. i hope it happens for them.
  3. i was at the smith co. v macon co. game there was a lot of people there but not as many as you think i got there right at kick off and walked in without standing in line.that stadium is just small. i got a great seat though i was standing under the field goal post in the endzone. i was also at the redbank championship game when riggs was a senior there was a ton of people there that night. and it was about 20 degrees it started snowing in warmups and i dont think it ever stopped. probably the biggest crowd ive seen for the size of the schools was south pitt. at hartsville in the mid 90's.i was just a little kid but i remember getting there at about 5:30 and they were standing 3 deep on the fence and the bleachers were full.probably a little under 10,000i wouldnt have got to see the game if we didnt have someone save a couple of seats for us.

    sumner county

how are the teams in sumner county looking this year? is gallatin going to be able to replace or somewhat fill the shoes of link?is portland up for a big year?and how will the rest of the county do?
  6. what time is the wland and rbs game?
  7. dude its not just lipscomb its said about all private schools. can you explain how goodpasture, lipscomb, dca, ezell and all these other schools are so good every year? dont tell me hard work cause they work no harder than the public schools. all those great athletes dont just go to those schools because its " a good school" they are there so they can get a ring.and the coaches have lots of influence on which school they go to. no other public 1 or 2a school can put out a team that can compete like they do every year. so something is going on dont ya think. im not gonna argue with you though. this thread will probably be locked up soon anyway. but if it gives you piece of mind to deny it go ahead. good luck in in '05 when you get throw in with the rest of the
  8. buffguy your guess is right westmoreland will be good again. jones and franklin are two great seniorswith tons of experience that will lead the way and the two perry girls are gonna contribute a lot this year. they arent playing great right now but they have played some tough scrimmages and coach abner will have them ready she always does. i betting that the rivalry with friendship will be good again this year.
  9. muff its just a scrimmage man dont get your panties in a wad. however that ACL injury may prove to be very costly to eagles this season. he will be badly missed, especially on offense. i know those guys though theyll step up and take care of things. i am a kinda wondering how things will go against portland now with that injury happening this close to season.but hey we play them twice.
  10. everybody is talking about these great offensive minds which is fine with me but i would like to know who produces the best defense every year? after all "if the other team cant score they cant win" . and for those of you talking about coaches who do the most with the least.i think coach dyer from macon could be thrown in there. i dont know if he's extremely religious or extremely lucky but they're gettin it done. however i do still hate them. go owls!
  11. do you people spend every waking moment on coacht? i knew this woould be a big thread but my god.
  12. just so you know i dont side with lewis co. on much of anything but i think theyre band is great. when we played there they did the same thing. the band also played a little while they were on offense and it didnt bother me. i think after youve been through a week of practice you should know what to do. you should know all of the calls before the qb or linebackers even make them. if you cant think for yourself on the field you shouldnt be out there.
  13. you lipscomb people have no idea. you must be off in your own little world this year with that head swelled up the size of a beach ball.guess what this aint last year! you might and i stress might win a state title if you get by tyner but then your still gonna have go beat milan. you arent in the drivers seat to roll over everybody in the playoffs you havent played anybody in the playoffs yet. your finnally gonna get a test this week.hope you pass. and by the way i have a ton of respect for your program you are the ONLY private school i even begin to respect. so why talk crap like you are? if your so superior shut up and play let your pads talk. you are a great football team but your not gods gift to football around here.quit disrespecting other programs its the reason i and most other people have respect for you. just think guys we might have two PUBLIC shools playing in the 2a state title game.scary for those rich boys isnt it. cant wait till they send your butts off to play with DII.good luck.
  14. top 3 1)i would love to see DB and Oak play. tons of tradition in those programs and it is guaranteed to be a hard faught game. i wont even begin to predict a winner 2)tyner and lipscomb. i know the lipscomb fans think they are going to roll over tyner but unless they quit playing your gonna have a dog fight on your hands. its speed and athleticism against discipline and coaching.normally id take discipline but tyner is to good to bet against. 2)sout pitt. and boyd. i have one word. wow. thats what high shool football is all about. small schools with a lot of heart and determination. everybody plays both sides of the ball and leaves it all out on the field. you see any of these 3 and your gettin your $7 worth. the T$$AA is gonna make a killin this week.good luck to all.
  15. i hate to say it but.....i told ya so.
  16. im only 17 but the 2 largest crowds ive ever seen were south pitt. @ trousdale in like 1997?maybe it was 1998 i dont remember now but i do remember getting there at 5:45 and having to fight for seats. they were three deep on the fence by game time. the other is westmoreland @ portland in like 94-95. westmoreland was the best team in 2a and portland won 3a i think or got close anyway. those two hated one another.i have no idea how many were there but if you showed up late you didnt get in till the second quarter.
  17. what stinks is i hate both of these teams. but i gotta pull for smith i hate macon way more.they should have got beat by grundy. they made a ton of mistakes. grundy just didnt cover anybody on that last drive. who the crap calls a reverse with 20 seconds left? when your already in field goal range. i wish they would have lost the fumble on that play and lost the game because of stupidity.and why did they not go for 2 on the second td. it would have put them up 15 -12 instead of 14-12 had macon not made the field goal to win they would have lost by 1 instead of it going to overtime. not smart football. it dont matter though smith is gonna beat them unless they stall out 5 more times once they get inside the ten. go owls.
  18. i bet macon and smith arent far behind
  19. gobama i hate to inform you but this aint last year.tyner is much improved and lipscomb is going to have there hands full. when you compare the teams by athleticism lipscomb should get killed however coach mcadams will have his boys ready. my question is are the rams gonna get a little nervous and choke? i didnt see the GP game but apparently tyner didnt do much in the first half.if it happens again, lipscomb will win. they know how to finish a game. but if tyner doesnt turn the ball over and get frustrated offensively they should win. lipscomb-17 (cutler wont crack 90 yards) tyner-20 (no way they hit all three extra points)
  20. i love how people(wesvols) get on here and talk about the private schools having the nicest facilities. of course they do you moron there parents are loaded! and GBmember i have seen many fields better then yours. im not gonna say anything about bleachers or stuff over there. but your playing field is mediocre at best.i will say you have great fan support we came over for a scrimmage back in the spring and you nearly filled the bleachers. i was very impressed.
  21. lol it never fails. i get a great laugh everytime i get on coacht.dude yall are pretty good but i have one word for your question. goodpasture.
  22. 1)brewer plays no defense. all he does is slap at the ball with those big lanky arms and try to poke one out so he can get an easy dunk. 2)he gets frustrated way to easily.and worse than that he lets it show.some might say "he just cares that much" i say he's just a cry baby 3)if you want to stop brewer from scoring its pretty simple.knock the crap out of him the first time he goes up for a shot. put him on his back once or twice and let him know he's not going to go up for the dunk or any other shot without somebody putting a body on him. he might be 6' 6" or whatever he is but hes only about 5 inches tall when hes flat on his back. i am by no means a basketball expert nor do i claim to be. im more of a football mind as you be able to tell from that last paragraph. however its not rocket science.i cant wait till he comes wland. ill be very disapointed if he puts up more than 15 on my boys.i dont care if we lose guys just SHUT HIM DOWN. goodluck at florida corey. your gonna need it. p.s. if i was his coach i would sit his butt on the bench untill he played team ball and defense.i dont care how good he is.honestly i wouldnt let him be my water boy. ferguson was way better!
  23. how many of you have been on the field with atleast 2 of the 3 big teams in the east? i have. and im sorry but if tyner doesnt win it this year something is seriuosly wrong with that program.im not a tyner fan at all. i dont like any of the big 3 in the east.the only one i remotely respect is lipscomb but you people dont understand how physical and how quick tyner is. im not jumping on the bandwagon. but lipscomb and goodpasture have not seen a team like tyner. unless you frustrate them or they just dont show up at all your going to think your playing a college team.and as for the west if milan is half as good as everybody says lewis doesnt have a chance.ive played them too and they cant beat any of the big three in the east.i dont know about milan or mckenzie though. i hope tyner doesnt make me look stupid for hyping them up.but they are the best team ive ever played against. and ive played what went on to be 2a state champs every year for the past three. and itll be 4 unless milan pulls it off.good luck to all but crap im pulling for milan. i hate private schools!
  24. how can you say lipscomb is invincible. westmoreland who all of you say is a "bad" team played them 21-3 and 7-3 at the half.which is probably lipscombs lowest point total for the season.and they have no where near the talent of tyner goodpasture or milan. no doubt lipscomb is good and they are the champs until somebody takes it away from them but in my opinion tyner or goodpasture could definitely beat them.i would say milan to but i havent seen them play.its not the same competition as last year.but of course if they play like they did last year in the playoffs they probably will win it again but it wont be easy.anyway its all gonna come to an end if they face tyner.and if they see goodpasture again i wont even begin to predict that game. that match up has to much emotion involved for talent to even matter.
  25. how did lipscomb look in the first round?id like to see houston co. win it simply because they are a public school.but lipscomb is just to good.as long as lipscomb doesnt let that reciever put up big numbers they should roll.
