  1. As I have for the past decade or so, I attended the state championships on Saturday Night. I did not have a horse in the race this year so to speak, but went to see some good basketball. ( I was not disappointed at all, all three games were great games). I did have a problem. At everytime out, the music was turned on, loud. It drowned out the crowds that were trying to cheer for their teams. One of the things I love most about going is to see the student sections for the respective schools get a little nuts, paint themselves and do their chants that they have done all year to fire their squads up. Unfortunately, the music was so loud it was almost impossible for that to happen, and it took away from the whole experience. I hope that the state tourney officials will rethink this. Music at half time or between games is fine, but not at every time out. I am sure that the coaches had a hard time and had to yell for there teams to hear instructions. The state gives out the Sportmanship (spirit) award, but how can you truly chose one if that if at the opportunities that the cheerleaders (and crowds) have their chance to support their team, all you hear is music booming through the speakers. I still had a good time, just wished to experience more of the Basketball, fan support and the chants and cheers that go along with it. Congrats to all the Champions and Runners-up! See ya next year.
  2. For a couple of years, I had heard of and read about Ms. Clark from Mt. Juliet. I finally got the pleasure of seeing her in person on Saturday night. All I have to say is WOW! As advertised, she was THE best player at the Boro on Saturday. She (along with the remainder of the Lady Bears) were extremely fundamentaly sound. She new how to position herself to get the ball on offense and blocked out as well as I have seen in a long time. I'm not for sure how many rebounds she had, but everytime I looked she had the ball in her hands after a shot was taken (on the offensive or defensive end). Impressive. Belmont won the lottery in my opinion, because I think she would be a fine addition to any of the larger SEC schools. I am sure she will make a huge impact at Belmont. Good luck to her and congrats the Lady Bears. Also, Dyersburg played a heck of a ballgame, congrats to them as well.
  3. Just wanted to say Thank You to Reg4-A Announcer for all of the scores, updates and stats during the tournaments. For the first time in many years I was not been able to attend a single Clay Co game, but you made it just like being there. I do appreciate it. Dawg and Lady Dawg fan for life. Sam4vol
  4. Good job to the Dawgs of Clay Co on an excellent year! Good Luck to Temple.
  5. Somebody tell me something!!!!
  6. Thank you Coach Sims for a wonderful run at Celina (Clay Co.). The level of excitement brought to Celina girls basketball during your run, will be hard to top. Remember that your first year I think you won 3 games total and now look where the program is. Your a great coach but even more you are a great man. You treat your players, opposing players and coaches with respect and you represented Clay Co, 7A, and the Upper Cumberland well. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. To the successor: Good Luck! Go Lady Dawgs!!
  7. Being a huge 7A supporter, Clarkrange showed you today why the best Class A ball in the state is in the Upper Cumberland. I was at the game today and can say without a doubt (at least in my mind), that at least 3 of this years 7A teams would have taken Peabody to the woodshed like Clarkrange did today. Face it......as of today the best Class A team in the state is Clarkrange. Note: Being a huge Clay Co fan that last sentence was very difficult to type. My fingers cramped twice...LOL Congrats to the Range!
  8. Great game by Livingston today. When you down 8-0, I did not see panic, what I saw was a team that was very well composed, turned up the defense and by the end of the first quarter I had no doubts that you girls were in complete control of the game (A sign of great coaching). Also, that was some of the best block outs I have had the pleasure of seeing. Most times after McMinn would shoot, the lane had been completely cleared out for the easy rebound. LA was the best team at the 'Boro today. Again, congrats! Upper Cumberland Girls Basketball rules all.
  9. Congrats to the Range on a great game today. Peabody had that Deer in the Headlights look from the tipoff. Looked like to me that they had never seen that type defense before. All I heard on CoachT was that the speed of Peabody would be too much for anybody to handle. From where I sat, Peabody could not handle the speed of the Range. Snow played extremely well today. Nice to see the Gold Ball come back to 7A.
  10. Hey Wiseman, I will just say, that I completely noticed what you noticed.
  11. I was there for all three games today. The best team on the floor today was Livingston. I think with their team speed and outside shooting they could have beat anyone in that gym today. Also, LA is the best team I have have seen in a long time at boxing out. Most of the day when McMinn shot the ball the lane had been completely cleared out by the LA girls for the easy rebound.
  12. Congrats on the big win over Huntingdon! Good luck in the title game against Peabody! Bring that Gold ball to 7A!
  13. Great job LA on your big win over Gibson. Keep up the hard work.
  14. Congrats to the Range on their big win today. Keep up the hard work ladies.
  15. Congrats to Perry Co. on the big win. Good Luck against Peabody. Congrats To the Clay Co. Lady Dawgs! We still love you ladies. We are proud of you accomplishments this year. District Champs and Region Champs and you made it all the way to State and have absolutely nothing to hang your heads about. I know it will be hard for awhile, but you will look back and see what a great Run you made this year. Such a great new beginning for the new, Clay Co High School. To finish the post I made at the beginning of the season... If you have never heard of Clay Co........NOW YOU HAVE!
  16. Go Lady Dawgs! Block Out and Rebound! I wish I could be there on Wednesday. I wish you luck. Play Hard and give me a reason to take off work on Friday and drive to the 'Boro!!!!!
  17. Final Temple 49 Clay Co. 47 Clay Co. misses 3ptr at buzzer. Congrats to Temple. Congrats to Clay Co. on a great year. We are very proud of you boys. You represented District 7A extremely well.
  18. End of 3rd Temple 33 Clay Co. 32
  19. Hey TNBballMan, I am in Knoxville and am listening to the Clay Co game on Chattanooga radio 89.7 (barely). Halftime: Temple 26 Clay Co 23 Chase Stephens got his 3rd foul early in the 2nd quarter and sat on the bench.
  20. Halftime Temple 26 Clay Co. 23
  21. Congrats to the Range on their big win. Show's you how strong District 7A is. Hey Basketballz, Clay Co. played pretty good ball tonight. Pauli Herman had 25 and Steph Rich had 14. They led by 10 at the end of the first quarter and slowly pulled away the rest of the game. See ya in the 'Boro.
  22. Congrats to Powell on their win tonight and I just wanted to say to you and your fans..... I feel your pain about not getting to play on your home floor. I hail from Clay Co. (Celina) and we have played a few SubState games in the past 13 years, and the first few times we did get to play on our home floor. However, since the TSSAA has put this little rule into effect we have had to travel 45 min from our home floor to play our "Home" Substate game. I think this rule is bogus and a bunch of bunk. We finally got to play a HOME substate game tonight only because we built a new school that has "enough capacity". Good Luck at the 'Boro!
  23. Congrats to the Clay Co Lady Dawgs! You "Got er Done". Great job Paulie (25pts) and Steph (14pts, I think). Also, Amber, Brooke and Megan you did a great job as well. Copper Basin just did not have an answer for our post game tonight and you three fed them extremely well and stepped up and hit some big shots of your own. Copper Basin - Congrats on a great season. You girls have nothing to hang your heads about, you played all out the entire game and I was impressed by the fact that even when down by several points you played so hard and left everything on the floor. You earned my respect tonight. Now it is time to focus on your game with Perry Co. on Wednesday morning. Remember my motto, always, always always....... BLOCK OUT AND REBOUND!!!!
  24. Thanks for the info Coach15. Clay Co Lady Dawgs.... Region 4A Champs....has a nice ring to it. Go Lady Dawgs!!! See ya in Celina on Sat night.
  25. Thanks TNbBallMan. I will look for your post on here and the girls board. Go Dawgs!!!!
