The discussion now turns to the next decade. With the realignment of Division II and new member schools, how will this affect the league? Will we see more great players like Ingle Martin, BJ Coleman, or Barry Turner? Who will emerge as the dominant team of the next decade? What coaching movement will we see? Will we see more or less Division II vs. Division I games?

Hi Sommers, I believe my Big Red has finished as high as 2nd place, and for the most part finish either 3rd or 4th.. Last year they finished 5th at the individuals and 4th at the duals. I believe this was the first time CBHS place higher than MBA in either of the state duals or individuals. I have read on hear the the Big Red had a rough day at the Kenwood tourn. Hope they can recover!

Herm, If you had been following the MBA vs Ryan rivalry close you would not be surprised by MBA's recent success. If you follow MBA and the D2 wrestlers you would see that MBA has been right in the mix with the top teams from D2. MBA has beaten Baylor, McCallie, Ryan in the last 4 years. If I am not mistaken, MBA has never lost to CBHS in a dual meet. I do look forward to the MBA vs Ryan match this year. I WILL BE CHEERING FOR MY BIG RED!

To answer your question Herm, I believe MBA has beaten Ryan 4 or 5 times over that past 5 years. I guess we should call on Irishdad to get the skinny on this one. This is a classic battle that everyone should see. I was at the match where MBA beat the mighty irish in the "Pit". That one brought tears to my eyes. And they weren't irish eyes.

Edd Caudill, MBA's line coach for the past 10 years, took a job at the new Ensworth High School.

CBG- Seven out of MBA's 22 starting positions were filled by Ensworth kids which is about 1/3.

Irishdad: I want to thank you for providing MBA with a hefty supply of bulletin board material (countless posts degrading MBA's program and discussing its lack of athleticism and wrestling prowess) during the last couple of days. Ever since the coaches printed off your posts and plastered them all over the locker room, the wrestlers have become very, very focused and determined. Not only did they practice late last night, but I heard that they insisted on practicing BEFORE the match with Pope JP II tonight. Undoubtedly, your posts coupled with the fact that MBA is a major underdog and has nothing to lose have provided the wrestlers with a fuel that burns extremely hot. Perhaps you should join Tony Robbins and others on the motivational speakers circuit. Again, thanks for all your help. See your Thursday night in the pit!

Irishdad, First, do you have a job? Except for Sommers, you spend more time on this board than anyone. If you do have a job, you must be the most unproductive employee in the company! Second, why are you always picking arguments with everyone? You need to relax a little and understand that not everyone will share your opinion. Case in point, I know that Ryan has a tradition-rich program that has experienced a great deal of success. For that, I respect Ryan. Nonetheless, I disagree with you about the result of this Thursday's match: MBA can win if they step up to meet the challenge. But given Ryan's superiority "on paper", each MBA wrestler is going to have to answer the call and wrestle to the best of his ability in what will undoubtedly be a very hostile environment (the pit). Lastly, you should appreciate the great rivalry between two dedicated programs and realize that rivalries like MBA/Ryan, Baylor/McCallie, Bradley/ Cleveland, Clarksville/Kenwood are what make wrestling the best spectator sport around. Although I do not have a dog in the fight, there is no way that I am going to miss the match because I will get to see both great wrestling and great coaching. Hopefully, if you behave, I will also get to see great sportsmanship. Good luck to both teams!

McCallie did get worse, they get worse every year. They are a mentally weak team and they always have been. They have NO toughness. Look at how they performed in the State. The were home by thursday afternoon. They cant compete with the big boys when it counts.

Does anyone know of any schools seeking Freshman Football games in the fall?
