  1. I am looking forward to the rematch. I will be there to find out who indeed will have the biggest head in the gym!
  2. Hey Dawg...... isn't it supposed to be a basketball game? BTW, have you done any belly slides to home plate lately?
  3. I agree... for the coach sure is a heavy sleeper.....
  4. Better plan your route, Jeff. Co. fans. The "usual" route...down I-75 to US-68 will not work. The bridge over Watts Bar Dam is closed for the next six months. Alternate route I-40W to US-27S..... It's about the same distance, but takes a little more time.
  5. I'll have to agree with GoldenEagle11 and the "guy that got ejected". Three of the first four calls against Hyatte and Gillespie were definitely not in the spirit of "let them play"..... touch fouls.... This forced Rhea into a different game plan early and killed their spirit. Wilson Central is a good team, but I think Rhea was more affected by the calls. BTW I don't think Hyatte has fouled out more than 3 times all season and in many games went to the third quarter without a foul. The one incredible call against Cooper was unbelievable. Driving coast to coast and a defender charges into him head first......blocking foul obvious......if not ....a charge. NO... Cooper was called for pushing!
  6. Biggest underdog?.............anybody who has to play BC I'm pullin' for BC to make it to the finals and RC to win the finals Dist. 5...... the toughest in the state
  7. I know a darned good therapist who should be able to help get you through the bitterness, L4AA. Maybe you should ask your family doctor for a referral..... From the anger in your posts, no doubt some have already figured out your identity. All the hostility is not going to make you feel better. You are hurting yourself and all your unfounded accusations are hurting high school basketball. But, perhaps that is what you want to do. Smart and level-headed people who care enough to get the facts will dismiss your attempt to anonymously slander, and rightly conclude that you are a bitter consumed person who has already earned the label, "troublemaker".
  8. In my book, Corey is first class. A great young man, a very good ball player who could be called "Mr. Automatic" inside and on the line. I have enjoyed watching him play and wish him the best.
  9. All this has been hashed before...........They're all legal. So, get over it. BTW, Jenkins transferred last year, not this. Also, how about posting YOUR identity, since you seem to be so JEALOUS of Crowders appeal.
  10. I just think it's amazing when a ref standing two feet from the play calls a jump ball under the basket...... and then is over-ruled by the ref standing at half court. Earlier on, the same ref who over-ruled that call seemingly missed an over and back call when standing in the same place! Also, the same ref called an obvious travel, a foul, again from further away than the ref closest to the action. All these calls would outweigh the no-call, or the charge at the end of the game.
  11. Rhea Co's Randon Floyd...........vs Cumberland (?). Did a 360 hangin' on the net after the dunk tryin' to keep from landing on another player.
  12. Gee, I wonder if I was at the right Rhea/Ooltewah game....... Seems like I remember it though, cuz it was the first time I've seen a T called on someone for talkin' with his eyes! Bizzarre! So, Rhea was doin' all the trash talkin'? Well, I guess it's possible, but I tend to go by history............. Refs..........favoring Rhea? There are NO refs from Rhea Co. 'nuf said Rhea players......thugs? That's pretty low.....
  13. It was very fitting that the basket which broke the record was a picture perfect dunk! Go Zach!
  14. February 2, 2004 Rhea visits Cleveland
  15. Rhea 62, Cleveland 60. It went down to the wire. The officiating was refreshingly almost neutral in my eyes. Cooper hit the last two from the charity stripe. When the buzzer sounded to end the game, the crowd rushed the floor. The newly refinished floor got two years of wear in ten minutes!
  16. Tim is fun to watch and a nice guy too. He adds a lot to the team. Besides, his mom can sing the national anthem like very few others can!
  17. Congrats on a great win. Maryvill has a fine team and I wish them well in the future. I'm sure they will go all the way again. I was really impressed by the Maryville fans who supported their team with real enthusiasm! It was a very positive experience. And, what a Band! The best one I've heard all year! I have one request though. Please tell the Maryvill place kicker that he broke the air horn on my bus!
  18. Well, I think if you got to see the tape, you would agree that the actions of the three Cleveland players were not the smartest. And, as I've heard a lot of players, fans, and some coaches say, they perceived their actions as taunting. I'm sure the players would not have done this if they knew there was going to be a fight. Cooper was really upset by the whole thing and I feel bad for him. Heck, I feel bad for all involved. I do think the actions of the TSSAA were fair. I do wish the Cleveland coaching staff the very best and continued success. Now that both teams seasons are over......let's get on with roundball....
  19. Nobody seems to want to admit that the "root cause" of this whole incident was the actions of three Cleveland players who engaged in "taunting" after the game ended. This is not the first time the Cleveland team has engaged in this behavior, as reported by other opponents. Sure, the atmosphere was highly charged, but if the actions of these three had not occurred, the whole incident would not have happened. Definition of taunting: After the game is over, and your team has won, go to the opposing sideline in front of the bench, wave your arms around, point to the scoreboard, mouth off to the opposing players, coaches, and fans, all while your team-mates are forming a line to shake hands with the other team. (Since this has apparently occurred at the end of at least two other games, I must assume that the Cleveland coaching staff encourages this behavior. - and did this really happen? It's all on tape fans! - and this may be a clue to why one party was so eager to settle the issue!) So, Cleveland fans, encourage your coaching staff to stop this unsportsmanlike conduct. In the future, let's stick to hard-nosed football, and forget about the show-boating.
  20. The Cleveland Banner article was very well written and as far as I'm concerned, very accurate as to the facts of the game. I think he was well advised not go into greater detail about the post-game activities. That will all be sorted out later. Even though I was there and saw much of the action, I do not presume to have enough knowledge about it to cast any stones. It was an unfortunate thing. I am glad the Cleveland player will make a full recovery. As far as what "might" happen, I will wait and see.
  21. My take on what led to the post-game activities. 1. Rhea fans and players thought 44 should have been flagged for "taunting" after he was allowed to score when time was running out. I didn't see the play very clearly, but I heard a lot of folks talking about it. He was probably just playing smart and using up more time. 2. On the last Rhea drive.... Rhea player 24 (or maybe it was 2) was definitely hit out of bounds.... NO CALL...I think that's why the Rhea coach was so upset and stepped onto the field. He was definitely not "charging" anyone, as characterized by a caller to the sports show. I think that comment was a cheap shot. 3. When the Rhea player took his helmet off.....he was upset because a Cleveland player had allegedly punched a Rhea player in the face right in front of one of the refs......NO CALL Well, the refs also did NOT CALL a penalty because the player removed his helmet. Now, both sides are more upset! 4. The last play, where Cooper caught the pass.... most Rhea fans thought he was shoved out and would have come down in bounds....if not for the push. I don't know about this... couldn't see too well. However, when the refs put the ball down and THEN called the game over, it appeared as though they were not only, not in control of the game, but just decided arbitrarily to end the game. 5. A lot of Rhea fans thought the taunting by the Cleveland players (not the whole team, but just a few players) after the final gun was classless and was a huge contributor to why the physical stuff started. I call it taunting, because they were facing the Rhea players and fans, and were on the Rhea side of the field.............Now, if they were facing their own fans and other players on the bench.... that would be celebrating. Call it what you want, but in my book, celebrating is something you do with your friends.......and taunting is something you do to your rivals. Tensions were definitely high, but I think that the whole thing would NOT have occurred if the Cleveland players had "celebrated" instead of doing otherwise. 6. The reason the activities continued after the first breakup..... a Cleveland asst. coach shoved a Rhea coach. I heard this can be proven. This was a dogfight and a very good game to watch right up to the end. However, there is no excuse for the post game activities. Others will judge what may occur, but IMHO, the refs did a very poor job of game control. This first became evident when the scoreboard clock failed and they spent no less than five minutes determining that official time would be kept on the field. It was the longest time taken to make this decision that I have ever witnessed in a HS football game. Let's hope that everybody will learn from this....and it won't happen again.
  22. The absolute best defensive player I've seen all year is Rhea County's James Garmany. He is almost always the quickest player on the court and has set records for steals. He's also no slouch on driving to the basket. I am continually amazed by his pure physical ability.
  23. Well.....darn it... Ain't smokin' nuthin.... I'm just a week behind! Just realized it last night when somebody asked me if I'd heard about Bradley smokin' CCHS! Rowdy fans might be OK... but when it continues in the parking lot.....it's anuther story.
  24. Where have you been the last three years? The CCHS fans are the most rude I've seen just about anywhere in East Tenn. At least one time I watched CCHS administration and security do nothing when a large group of local students were jeering opposing players, and in general causing a very obvious distraction. Brittany........hmmmm.... wasn't that the same night that Pat came to watch???? Cumberland by 4
