the richardson girl and tonya tuggles were two miss basketball winners two different years at bradford high school where david russell was the coach.since russells departure,they have gone down a bit but russell is doing quit well at gibson county high school.the guy is a heck of a coach.the mlk team i saw in the state last year.they play great defense although they dont seem to be as talented as some others but they seem to have a great coach with several assistance who help out as well.

because our regarly season end a week earlier and give time to finish tournaments a little earlier before the region starts.some AAA starts a little later like the later part of the week then A in some areas because not many teams in each district.i guess in middle and east tn they might start some game times earlier and have more games in a day.since we finished 16A tournament for boys on thursday,it gives plenty of time to start the regional the following monday for girls and thursday for boys.

the first matchup halls won easily running away th south fulton by 28 points.the second matchup i wasnt at the game but i was told both teams shot poorly and south fulton won 45-42.if halls plays like they been playing lately,then,i think halls will prevail although sf has been playing much better also.

i would have to say it was a barnburner of a game tonight in tiptonville for the district 16a title matchup.damarcas patrict and walter tates were lighting it up and built a 37-28 lead at the most before leading at the half 37-30.lake county scored the first 6 points of the second half before jarvis roberts made a three point basket the old fashion way giving halls a 40-36 lead.number 31 for lake county just kept hitting threes all night and basically got lake county back in it as well with halls allowing 31 to get open looks from the outside way too much.halls had several in foul trouble but damarcas patrick getting his 5th foul with about 3 minutes to play with a 55-54 score before lake county scored 7 straight pouints to seal the win.i think lale county had two main players really did most of the damage being tyler and number 31.tyler hit the big three late to give lake county a 62-54 lead.it was a great game but give lake county credit they finaly weathered the storm halls gave them by number 31 and tyler kept making plsysd throughout the night.the place was rocking all night.i thought it was a great gesture on middle college players congradulating there coach for winning the coach of the year award this season.it was great to see how there players were so happy running out on the floor giving him a big hugg before he even had a chance to recieve the award.i think that was great to see the hapiness those kids had for there coach.

wow.lots of talent coming from humboldt and union city both.its hrd to compete against teams year in and year out with towns that have a walmart or even a supercenter.i remember one year halls was AA playing football against huntingon,union city and milan.its still hard to grasp how union city can only muster 300 plus students only with the size of that town unless several going to obion instead.lots of talent.guess it will be 6 teams in each district next year unless they are laid out differently.

i agree woth alot of things misters post.lake county is very deep and very athletic.i think they do a very good job of handling the ball and get after you defensively.they were avble to drive more instead of just shoot from the outside.trenton is loaded as well but i think lake county wins those three games mainly becuse they do more things well better then trenton does.but number 21 for trenton i think was a spark.he did make some mistakes but i think he will be fine overall.as far as the technical being called,i saw two officials acted as if they werent going to call anything but in my mind maybe it should have and the official on the other side of the floor decided to call it at the right time.maybe doaks was warned earlier in the game and that played in the decision of the official deciding the make the call.i know if a guy has been warned and he repeats it it makes since to call it.when doaks was upset i was on the lake county side wondering if someone would try to hold back doaks from getting thrown out because sometimes a player might not know how others can respond rather quickly.a person thrown out of a gam at this time of year is crucial in seeding and as well as going home earlier possibly.but trenton is loaded with talented players and will be tested the next few games without doaks in the lineup if its two game suspension.i was also watching the police come over to the tyrenton side just before the game to help make sure the trenton team can leave orderly without any problems.im not sure why coach cisco got upset about specificaly but he was upset at one particular person in the stands and a trenton player seemed to get upset about it and seemed to act as if he was taking up for his coach.im not sure what exactly went on there but that when the police got ahold of one player for trenton to pull him aside and prevent other trouble or possibly injury.i thought it might hqave been a good idea for nobody come ot of the bleachers or anything until the players were able to get to the dressing room.i think the police were attempting to make sure there wasnt anymore troubler then what occured.but by being there more bad things could have happened.when i sww the police coming i decided to just stay right where i am and not go anywhere.i was just hoping nothing else bad would happen but there were several techincals called in the game for both teams and anyone there could sense things could get worse based upon what happen late on a questionable call as far as a foul called.but that was a judgement call and each team has to live on it regardless if its right or not.i know deep down thaqt cooler heads always prevails.sometimes we loose it and kaos can happen.hopefully everyone involved react positively longterm and can learn what other things that can be done to prevent this from happening again.first,if an official warns a player,let the coach know as well.then the coach let the player know what needs to be done and he has been warned.if he still does it,then he has to be assest the penalty.maybe thats why the techincal was called.a player shouldnt get upset if the penalty is assest because thats the rule that has to be inforced.we may not like the idea that its been inforced but an official has to make the call and to take charge.

look out for mitchell.they have three starters who are junior now who played in the state two years ago and two players who came in last year and not sure about others they have.they been beating teams pretty soundly and scoring bunches of points and undefeated in there district as well according to there scheduling.they beat some good AAA teams to so luck out for them.i think someone mentioned a few years ago they could be two years away and two years is now.

i saw the score 88-45 in favor of greenfield over lake county.wasnt sure if thats correct or not.just checking.

excuse me but where did number 6 come from?is there another team in the district tournament similiar to when middle college was a 5th seed a few years ago when not playing in any regular season games?im under the impression that there are only 5 teams in the district.and another thing.last years voting on mvp was the issue.that was last year and over but strayhorn exploited there transition defense and hurt them badly.but i think its a good thing to see how middle college responded after the severe beating they had from halls last year by playing a great game against greenfield.i think that might have been a big shift in there belief in themselves and motivated them more for this season.im a former volunteer coach in youth leagues and im always happy to see people respond after a disapointing situation.we had discussions last year on the boards about strayhorn not winning the award but i like the way he handled it getting his team back to murfreesboro after wining over greenfield in the region final.its great to see kids respond after those things happened for both halls and middle college both.those things are in the past and hopefully each teams can still learn great lessions throughout there lives.each game is a lession in itself learning the lessions of overcoming different obstacles as they come and watching kids put there hearts into it.

halls came from behind and trailed as much as 12 points and made a good run and got 27 points behind damarcas patrick and played great defense to upset dyersburg 54-47.

halls lost two starters plus halls had one pure shooter to uit the team after a 7-2 start or sometime soon around 7-3.greenfield looks like they are missing the blackburn brothers especially the older one being able to shoot or drive.they dont have enough roll players like last year but they are still dangerous.i think greenfield can match up against lake county better then halls based upon smith ballhandling skills.halls seemed to do a better job on defense tonight but i will be shocked if halls makes it back unless they can be more consistant and play well against some tough teams.strayhorn on that team makes a huge difference.most dont realize just how much.but damarcas patrick is the type of player for halls who can tae a pressure shot but i dont think anybody around in this area brings to the table what strayhorn did for his team when he played high school ball.greenfield can still be a scary team because smith and shane have tasted a bit some state tournament action and i wonder just how well they can make a different for there team.number 43 has to have a good shooting night and lwtely he hasnt.halls has 4 players with experience in the state but they need to play alot better aganst some tough competition in tournament time to even have a chance.

after halls led at haftime 23-16,greenfield made a run toward the end of the third quarter to tie the game at 29 and then taking a 31-29 lead before damarcas patrick took over and made several clutch baskets to gradully build a bigger lead.damarcas patrick got cut over the eye and they patched him up and brought him back in but by the time it was a 9 point game and then he stoled the ball ad drew a foul and sunk both free throws late and halls eventually opened it up to a 52-38 game before greenfield scored the last 4 points.number 43 for greenfield couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat tonight.not to be insulting but he had a bad shooting night.

im from halls myself and middle college has some height and probably put a hand in the face of the shooter.lake county had a chance to blow it open but let middle back in the game as they almost let halls back into it the night before.it seems middle has matured after the drubbing they got in the district tournament last year.they surprised alot of people and playing greenfield well a game they should have won.

what i meant on matchup if lake county plays greenfield first round or greenfield verses halls or even greenfield verses middle college or trenton.greenfield still has the potential to surprise some people as they did lake county or last year in the substate winning at jackson christian.dresden plays inspiring based upon what i saw last year against lake county in the regionals.if halls can get there act together i think they match up well even against middle college and gave them a run for the money last game.im thinking it all gets down to who plays better in the district tournaments and placing in the region and what happens from there.

halls didnt look good friday night but are capable.greenfield is a little unpredictable in there outcomes.they loose to south fulton and dresden and beat lake county by 20 who blew out halls who blew out south fulton.depends which team shows up for both teams because early in the first meeting halls looked like they were going to run away early but greenfield gained there composure while halls struggled.i think the two games against lake county were halls' worst games not to take anything away from lake county because they have more talented players on there team.greenfield has smith who handles the pressure well at the point and shane inside causes problems for most.dresden seems to be playing better according to latest games ic on here as far as that district but lake county seems to be a more dangerous team to me then anyone in 16A because what they can do.it should be interesting how each team in 15a be matched up with 16a during the region first round games.

after halls opened up to an early 4-0 lead lake county ran off several points in a row and ended up leading 17-6 after one quarter of play.lake county then had a 24-6 lead at one point and lead as much as a 33-14 game before halls ran off 9 straight points to make it a ten point game after damarcas patrick hit a three point shot from half court to give halls some momentum after lake county started to look kinda sluggish.halls had a chance to make an early run in the third quarter but couldnt get anything going until number 31 in mays i believe kept hitting some killer threes to start to open it up again.lake county caused several tiourovers early from richmond by swiping from behind when dribbling the bsall too high and lake county took avantage of it as well as bad ballhanding from other people.but lake county did a good job of contesting shots and blocking out.i didnt see but one fellow for halls use a ballfake and he was able to get some shots off under the basket when some of lake counties taller athletes ould leave there feet.halls really looked rather week tonight and lake county looked razor sharp early on.i think if lake county could have played that way the whole way,it could have been worse but give halls some credit too as they never quit either.halls has to do a much better job of ballhandling to have a better shot with lake county and get the ball inside more and ballfake some cause lake county is athleticand will leave there feet as well.but lake county looked like the better team tonight. as they did the first time.

i really hate to hear about a program going down so much as obion.attitude has to be the most important motivating factor in whose the hungriest.give me 5 hungry people in any arena any day.sometimes in life you find out what ya made of during the worst of times.somebody can step forward and make a different whether it be a coach or player depending who really wants it more.i remember when i was volunteering as a youth coach i had a girls team that started off to a rocky start.i think a coach has to look at improving in as many areas as possible and constantly build people up in the process.failure remember is a process of success as well.some people accept failure and some people want to do something about it so bad that something deep inside just wants it worse then anyone else.i heard a guy once say the following."put a looser in a winning environment,then, he can chsange his thinking.put a winner anywhere then he can change the environment around him".a friend of mine would always tell me "its all mental".its almost like the train that says "i think i can.i know these are quotes but attitude is a building process for winning.depends on how bad a person wants it.

listen guys.if lake couinty is on with there shooting,they are talented enough to score more then 4 or 5 points in only two different quarters.i remember lake county beat halls at halls and halls blew put lake coiunty on bad shooting during the district championship last year.it really depends on how lake county shoots the ball and the team they play handles the ball during pressure defense.did trenton beat west carroll this season?i think west carroll has a very talented team that can play with anybody but just doesnt get to play in a strong district.no offense to west carroll.16a is still very strong but remember greenfield can surprise people especially late in the year as they have the last few years.

it doers surprise me that greenfield won by that margin,not that greenfield won.knowing how lake county shoots alot from the outside they might have had a bad night.remember halls had greenfield 10-0 early in the first quarter and looked like halls was going to blow greenfield out but greenfield held there composure when hals didnt put them away early.greenfieldhas smith and shane and thats enough to keep them in any game.

hey ladyk.a 60-31 win surprises me.i knew dyre county lost some people last year but halls must have looked good and dyre county not play well.i wasnt at the game but let me know how it got such a lopsided score.

it was a great game and a close game all of the way through for the exception of a small run early in the fourth quarter while damarcas patrick set out for a few moments while middle college expanding a 4 point lead to give them a 57-46 lead until halls responded with a great effort to bring it closer 66-65 with 1:30 to play.it seemed like everytime halls mounded a run middle college would answer.most of the game was very close with middle having its biggest lead of 6 most of the way and halls a three point lead until early part of the fourth quarter.i think richmond the little point guard for halls showed alot of heart just like he usually does giving it his best effort.halls has one player no longer on the team.one of the sharp shooters isnt playing anymore i hear from one of the students.halls has to play better team ball and they seemed to show it better tonight then they been playing lately.josh daniels did some intangibles real well that doesnt show up on the score board just making good crisp passes and playing smart.he hasnt had the experience as the others but he will get better throughout the year.with the score being 72-70 with 2 seconds remaining,middle college hit the first free throw but mised the second.halls had the right break to happen by the ball hitting the side of the basket bouncing hard and over the head of one player while the ball was headed toward the side baseline with no one in sight for middle.i was hoping the kid would realize the clock doesntstart until the ball is touched and let the ball go out of bounds but he instinctly grabed the ball to look quick to pass it to damarcas patrick which was really too late to get off a shot.middle college seemed to make the shots when they needed too and number 13 played extremely well throughout the game.both teams were in a situation to win the game.both teams played hard and was a well played game.hopefully halls can build something on this game and get ready for tournament time later.i think jarvis roberts played inspired ball as well before fouling out and got in early foul trouble in the first half.i knew with most of the players back from last year we were better then what we have shown.with the players we have for now is going to take a team effort and it seemed like the kids really played there hearts out and really wanted to win.middle college showed somthing by coming into our gym and playing well.well played game.

the last time these two teams met it was close mopst of the way for the exception of middle college building a lead later i the second quarter after a few subs that didnt work out only to see halls bring it back to a 1 point deficit early in the third quarter.middle collegebuilt the leadto 21 very late with there starters in the game while halls brought out there starters when it was a 13 point game with 2 minutes or so to go.but middle played well and deserved to win the game.i havent scene halls play in awhile.i keep wondering whats been going on lately because they only lost two players last season although they were dane strayhorn and lojoel nance there top two scorers.the 5 main players who played alot last season have plenty of experience.i know coach jarrett wasnt very pleased early on even when we were 7-2.by watching him from the stands,he really seemed like he was trying to challenge his players as he usualy does.right now this is a time to rededicate themselves and find out what they are made off especially after a humbling experiencing blowout from lakecounty. hope they get there act together because they are a better team then they have showed especially late.by the way,halls did beat bradford and brighton i hear from one of there former players.only a 1 point win over dresden makes me wonder why they been struggling so much lately.after tonights game,i will take a good look and see for myself since i havent been to a game since they were 7-2.they are 10-7 now.

hey fellows.im from hals and been working in memphis alot lately.i was wondering how halls would handle the press but i never felt it be a blowout since i knew we had a chance to beat dyersburg a little bit ago.the graduation of the xfactor in dane strayhorn really shows more this year when you figure halls only missed two players and returned 5 of there main 7 players they played last year.im still urprised although lake county returned everyone mainly from last year and i knew would get better this year.it still hocks me though.

i was at the game when halls played at middle college.i cnnt blaim the officiating for our loss.we didnt play well at al,especially in the second half.our shooting was terrible and we didnt block out.a good ball handler and penetrater and good fundemental blocking out and force middle to shoot with a hand in there face can beat them.i said earlier that middle had everybody back fropm last year and might have developed more confidence after playing greenfield so tough in the region quarter final game in which they felt they should have won.it should be interesting in tournament time.halls needs to get there act together and play more consistant.trenton,lake county are going to be a tough team to battle as well.
