  1. Riley Cooper played far better than Rush again. Rush had the ball stolen twice by a freshman who is at least 8", 9" shorter. He hit the side of the backboard twice, missed a lot of shots and an important free throw. Riley scored over him over and over. Yes, Upperman pulled it out but why, when York was up by 3 with 5.8 seconds to go, weren't the players told to foul? It would have been a 1&1...making it a York 1 point lead. Upperman could have made the first and missed the second on purpose, but Riley out rebounded Rush all night and odds were York would have gotten the rebound. York fans are incredible though and York will get them in the playoffs. If Upperman is the #3 team in the state, York is #3.5
  2. Pickett Co lost to AAA Cookeville at Cookeville early in the year. They were up by 10 but got into big foul trouble and lost. They lost at AA Livingston by 4 then beat them in the rematch by 13 or 14. They lost at state #2 Clay away but lost by 3 at home tonight. A more than half court three at the buzzer bounced out or it would have been OT...and Pickett's best player who averages over 20 a game could only play a few minutes so that was a huge factor. They lost by 1 to Clinton Co, KY who is 10-1 with a 2 point loss. If they were a smaller school and played in single A in Tennessee they are good enough to win the state. Pickett beat York by 12. York beat ranked Oneida by 15 and 25. Pickett has wins over 4 AA teams. They have only lost to one A team...#2 Clay Co. Pickett should be in the top 5
  3. Tennessee Tech would double the attendance of MTSU. There are so many Upper Cumberland teams that could make the tournament...both White Co teams, McMinn girls, Cookeville girls, Stone Memorial girls, Livingston girls, Macon Co girls, both Upperman teams, both Clay Co teams, both Pickett Co teams, Clarkrange girls, Watertown both teams, and Oneida is close by...both teams. Local fans would attend. Locals from Murfreesboro don't go. Tech's gym is way better than MTSU's. It's a no brainier.
  4. Pickett Co. didn't lose their big man. They lost a good player but have two very good players taking his place and one is two inches taller than the one who was injured. They lost 59-58 Sunday, away, to a Kentucky team they could easily win the state "A" title in Tennessee. But Clay Co. is so far the best team in 6A.
  5. MTSU always has thousands of high school fans for the state tournament. Tennessee Tech would be packed since there are a lot of teams near Tech that have a good chance of going. White Co both teams, Stone girls, both Upperman teams, Macon girls, both Clay teams, both Pickett teams, Clarkrange girls, both York teams.
  6. It's not Cookeville High. It's Tennessee Tech...a university gym.
  7. I haven't seen any notice that fans can attend games again. Has the ban been lifted?
  8. With York beating #2 Macon Co. by 20, beating White Co and Cookeville, they are in the mix for the state.
  9. Yes I have watched them and agree they are very good but very few thought they would beat the #2 team in the state by 20. It would not have been a shock to see them win by 2-5, etc, but I doubt even the biggest York fan would have they thought they could do it by 20.
  10. York led from start to finish easily beating previously unbeaten Macon Co. by 20...52-32. Their biggest lead was by 22. York now has beaten White Co, Cookeville and Macon Co. and is 11-3. Macon Co. was voted #2 in the state today behind Upperman at #1.
  11. That ended years ago. Hall of Fame games have counted for several years.
  12. Thank you. When they reschedule it should be two good games.
  13. I heard the LA vs Upperman game for Friday was postponed due to covid. Anyone know if this is true?
  14. I heard that the Livingston vs Upperman game for Friday has been postponed due to covid. Anyone know if this is true?
  15. If a team cancels, that's a forfiet. Team records are being shown with ties. THERE ARE NO TIES IN BASKETBALL! If a team cancels, that's a forfeit. Or if you're not going to have forfeits, then a cancelled game is not a win, not a loss and it certainly isn't a tie. This is ridiculous!
  16. Pickett Co will challenge for #2 with Summertown. They are much better than last year. 81-15 and 82-48 so far. Clarkrange has to be the favorite though.
  17. Did Gordonsville and Jackson Co not play last night? The Jackson Co boys' score is posted but not the girls. Why?
  18. Did Gordonsville's game get cancelled? If not, why haven't they posted BOTH the boys' and girls' game scores?
  19. Wartburg cancelled for Tuesday night so Pickett went to Knoxville to play someone else tonight but I don't know who. All I know is that it was supposed to be a private school. Anyone know the score and who they played?
  20. That'll be a great tournament. Clarkrange will even be better than the team that blew out Huntingdon in the state tournament 80-35. Here was their playoff scores from last year: District: 62-39 over Red Boiling Springs; 59-49 over Pickett Co. in championship; Region: 2-0 forfeit over Hardy Memorial; 63-39 over RBS; 63-45 over Pickett Co. championship; 70-21 over Moore Co. in substate; 80-36 over Huntingdon at state. And now they are even better. Pickett Co will be better too, but Clarkrange looks like they are heading to Gold Ball #9.
  21. Yes. They lost their starting QB and some others. They are losing some very good seniors to graduation but have a lot of young talent coming up. Plus, they were playing bigger schools. They'll drop to 2A next year.
  22. True...we had both Monterey and Clay Co. qualify for the state last year and both Clay and Pickett have a great shot at going to the state this year. Don't count out Gordonsville. They were impressive in the playoffs last year and Greg Bibb is a very good coach. We loved him when he was the Pickett co coach.
  23. York lost to Upperman by 1 play. Loudon big.
  24. Last year York out-gained Loudon in total yardage but couldn't stop the pass. With Loudon's QB and very good team, York will put up a fight, but with York's starting QB out with an injury, this will be a tough one for the Dragons. York's record is a bit deceiving as 4 games they lost were decided by a single play in each.
