That is a very strong schedule. Not to mention they play everyone in Dist. 4AAA twice. The hardest district in the state. It seems jeff co has no worries. They seem to be flying high and not worried about the bears. It will be fun to see the results. Please post them!

A good coach has to have a genuine care for the kids and the program. He has to set strict guidelines for his players to follow. If he follows the same guidelines, the players will respect him. Show the players the respect they deserve. Plus it is imperitave to have a knowledge of the game that is being taught. A good coach has to bring structure to the program that all kids need.

Any word on alignments further east, like knoxville? I hear Farragut may be leaving 4AAA and it may be inheriting Lenoir City and Seymour. (Those two may be moving to AAA due to an increase in enrollment). I heard that would put Farragut in Oak Ridge's district. That definitely would be interesting! Has anyone else heard anything like that?

I think TN does very well, considering we have to compete against other states with year round better climates. That is a big factor. Just think how much better we could be if we had the weather of Cal. or TX. The sky could be the limit.

Where exactly is the northern most and western most cutoff point for the region of southeast tennessee?

Anyone that plays in district 4AAA has a hard schedule. There is a wealth of talent in that district. With the likes of Maryville, William Blount, South Doyle, and not to mention Farragut, anyone would have their hands full. You throw in Bearden and West and it is that much tougher! At the bottom of the list is Heritage and Sevier Co. So in my opinion Sevier has a very tough schedule. It will be interesting to see how it plays out this year. Good luck!

To make some noise you will need to get out of the district. That means beating West and Greeneville. Not such an easy task. Good luck!

It seems to me that anyone with that type of attitude doesn't deserve to be on any athletic team. Pure ability can only get you so far. A positive attitude toward your team and yourself will take you alot further. Anyone that wants to play for themselves needs to take up wrestling or golf. To be a part of a team means just that, to be a part of the team and not bigger than the team. I am not too familiar with Sevier County baseball. Only that they have lived in the cellar of district 4AAA for a long time. Maybe this new coach can be a part of changing that. I always like to see healthy competition in my favorite district, (4AAA). By the way, who is the new coach at Sevier County? Where is he coming from?

It is true, Jeff co. has not been known for baseball, even though there have been some talented kids go through there. I think coming together as a team is crucial. Everyone needs to know their role. I do know there is a wealth of coaching experience there. I wish you all well this year.

I thought I remember seeing that the big Etherton kid was the all district pick for sevier co. I could be wrong though. I know the last two seeds in the district only get one all district pick each. Thanks for the input though.

The partial roster for sevier co. lists duryea as a pitcher. What kind of year did he have last year. I also found that #11 is Andrew Wilson. That name is not familiar to me. I really think the 1st baseman for south doyle is a tough player in east tn. He gets his money's worth every time he steps to the plate.

Who is #11 from Sevier Co.? What position does he play and what year is he? I don't remember that number from when we played Sevier Co.

I guess there alot of other coaches out there that do not have any sense because I did not see a roster for any team in district 4 AAA. I hope that means Coach Pharr at Farragut has lost some sense. That will give the other teams in the district a chance to beat them.

This district seems to include some of the best baseball teams in east tennessee. They have several contenders for the title all playing each other. How does that help or hurt each team. I also noticed that 3 teams in this district have new head coaches this year. How does that translate for them?

It is great to hear that Sevier Co has bowling and is doing well. That is great for them to be doing good in more than just girls basketball. It is also good that kids like Duryea, Wilson, and Murrell can participate in "athletics", if you can call it that. Nonetheless, it is great that they are able to contribute to their school by being more than just a student.

Dan Jurek from Jefferson County does an excellent job and his other trainer Brandy Hudson does great also. Jeff is blessed to have two certified trainers on staff.

guru5, that year trey ondrus was quarterback as a junior. andre williams was runningback as a sophmore. he was a very talented and fast back. that was a good team that year. too bad they slipped up against halls or there may have been another ring for jeff co. as far as jpats contribution, i don't know.

i agree, i think jeff co will be one of the toughest teams in the state this year. they have a good nucleus returning and alot of good athletes.
