  1. for those of you that think the defensive coordinator is the problem, you obviously haven't seen the actual kids that he has to work with. they are giving effort and are in the right places most of the time but just aren't big enough or mature enough physically to get off blocks or bring the ball carrier down. scheming is not the problem. they've played 3 good football teams so far. so far its been men against boys as far as defense goes. you can't teach size or speed. unfortunately macon doesn't have an abundance of either. no matter if you are taught to wrap up and such, bouncing off someone twice as big when you are trying to make a tackle is out of the d coordinators control. macon has a terribly tough district and schedule. step back and look at the big picture before you start heaping blame on people and players that are spending the time and putting in the effort to get better every day. in time all the work will pay off. remember that in the last 10-15 years macon has only had one team that was just as gifted as any they played, so understand that the coaches and players are giving it one heck of a try with what they have been given. good luck the rest of the year guys and don't hang your heads!
  2. Yes, that is the same one. Also, heard he was in Texas now and not even coaching and has no desire to get back into it.
  3. Its comments like these that make it where "good" coaches don't want to come here. It may be a small part of the problem but people always bashing the coaches is another small part of the problem and you seem to do that alot. Also, it doesn't really matter to me who gets it but I dont think that all the coaches this year was the problem. I know that there were some on the staff that have coached at other places and even here and won in the past so apparently they must have some idea of what they are doing. As a matter of fact every coach that was on the staff that has coached at other places were successful in their previous places, might want to think about that one.
  4. Well please fill us in because the names im hearing none of them have alot of head coaching experience.
  5. Well, since you seem to know so much please fill the rest of us in.
  6. Not sure why he wants to leave ND, but was told his application was seen in the Director's office. No not from here. He is coaching at Gallatin right now....not sure what else he has done.
  7. Well you want names Ill give you what I have heard. They are Keith Goolsby, Phillip Sanders, Phillip Dean, Notre Dame High School's coach, and a coach from North Carolina is what I have heard. Don't know who is the favorite but these are the names that have been thrown out as putting in for it.
  8. Apparently you don't know what your talking about. He may be entertaining the thought of coming to Macon and thats all good, but I promise Macon isn't offering more money. They have a set amount that they pay the head coach and that is it no matter who it is, how long they been there, or how well they do. So, while he may be thinking about these two jobs the money at Macon will not be the deciding factor, I promise. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. I don't see how that would be a big mistake, beings he has been on winning teams every year he has coached except for this past one year. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Anyways, I don't think you have to worry about that as I feel that someone will be hired that noone knows that is not from here and may or may not be a good coach. However, thats the fad now is to hire someone from way off "cause they know what their doing more than anyone around here" ha ha.
  10. Not sure Coach Pat Dyer would agree with that!!!!!!! He won and was defiently not idolized, but instead run out of town.
  11. I know Dekalb also plays Macon in non-district game.
  12. In my opinion Carthage caught the breaks to keep them in the game. Besides the obvious play that everyone is talking about what about the fourth down play on Carthage's first touchdown. The player clearly dropped that pass (it was right in front of me) so if it was called right they never would have scored there. Anyways, I don't think the officiating had anything to do with the outcome, I just think Carthage got almost every call and then you want to start that there is no way they were going to let SC win. I find that a little amusing. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. I have read most of the threads about Macon Co. and sat and shook my head at the vindictive attitude a few of the people that call themselves 'fans' have toward the current situation there. I am from Macon Co. and support the teams there that put in the time and effort it takes to play sports at the high school level. To all those who read these threads and see what the negative atmosphere is about in Macon, please understand that it is only a select few that act so disgracefully. All Macon fans are not so childish, rude, or hypocritical. We do not like those that are continuing to tarnish Macon's reputation either. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only thing Macon is known for now and that is sad. With that being said, i've been to a couple of Macon's games and am very disappointed in the fans at the games. Yes, this year the team hasn't exactly blown the doors off the opponents. 2003 skewed many peoples perceptions about what Macon football was about. That team was special and did things that had never been done before. But it was an anomoly. As a fan, you cannot expect teams like that very often. Before that team, Macon was known as a solid team full of tough kids that used what talent they had to the best of thier ability and was respected around middle tennessee. Fan support was solid, and on friday nights the stands were full of people that enjoyed cheering on the kids and soaking in the friday night atmosphere. Where are those fans now? I was hugely disappointed in the lack of vocal support the fans had last night at SC. You could hear crickets chirp most of the night. Unless your Chattanooga Tyner or Maryville or Riverdale, your not going to have 12-13 win seasons every year. Especially in a little rural town like Lafayette. Coaches can only work with what kids they have to work with. They do the best they can, and on the occasion that they do not do as well as believed they should by whatever administration is in charge, they get fired. It the circle of life in the coaching profession. But please fans, don't lose sight of what the bottom line is. Football is a HIGH SCHOOL sport, and the kids that play VOLUNTEER to play. They play cause they love the game, and want to represent thier school in competition. So support the kids, both physically by being at the games and vocally by cheering and by being positive on CoachT. There is a time and place to voice any displeasure. Say school board meeting for example. On CoachT or around the players is not the place.
  14. Ok you were told the Tigers played their butts off, which would suggest that you were not at the game. Therefore, how do you know PC wasn't a good football team unless you have watched them play earlier in the year. Also, why does it seem that a few of the "fans" on here act like they would rather see the Tigers lose, so they can fuss about the coaches, rather than see them win.
  15. Well Im pretty sure your real name isn't footballace2003 so if you want other people to tell their real name, why don't you come out and tell who you really are.
  16. Well Im hearing wrong from someone, because I heard from a Westmoreland player that the starters for both sides went three series a piece and that it was tied one to one. Also, that really Westmoreland was going in to score again and had a fumble. So, I dont see how you got that they lost five to nothing out of that, unless your just trying to make them look bad.
  17. don't give us that bullcrap about lafayette "behaving" ourselves. just because some fans have a good natured passion for their school (with a couple of exceptions however) doesn't mean that they are harmful in any way. the rivalry between the two schools is what sports is all about. it brings emotion and pride out in fans and players alike. ask either team if they would like to beat the other and the answer would be a resounding yes. now the reason that laf and rbs aren't playing each other is a lil cloudy but you would have to ask the rbs coach to find out his reasoning. why would you want to lose the money from gates at the laf/rbs games? just for a couple of loses on your record? or maybe even wins, who knows. but this guy knows that it was rbs's decision but i digress...so good luck to the girls in the KY tourny. i am going to watch and will be rooting for ya
  18. why was there only 3 teams in this years tourny? and 3 horrible teams at that! was rbs that desperate to win their own tourny that they had to play teams that alot of jr high teams could beat by 15? rbs should be ashamed for that joke of a tournament. where was the compatition? rbs claimes to have a good team, but its hard to judge talent when u play patsies. where was the challenge? did they even invite any good teams? in my humble opinion, i highly doubt it because inviting a decent team might lead to a loss in the o so important win/loss column. god forbid that you play teams that get your kids mentally and/or physically tougher in preparation for the run to a championship that everyone talks like is inevitable. if you have a good team like rbs does, would u rather have a 20-10 team that has been through some wars during the regular season and are prepared for the atmosphere of region and substate games, or a 27-3 team that has beaten powderpuff teams by 40 and been patted on the back all year till they run into a good team late and don't know how to compete in a hostile atmosphere.? either way, good luck rbs on the rest of the year. its a good team, despite the head coach :/
  19. dang, don't be so thin skinned...lol...i didn't attack a whole town, i just wondered where the ppl were that always seemed to come out of the woodwork after a rbs game, especially a loss. i don't think that its that much of a secret that it happens like that... u can not like it all you want, doesn't change my mind. i'm sorry if a couple of you have gotten offended...i am not gonna go through the thousands of reply's from hundreds of threads and pick out one's that i can use for an example...thats silly. and also about the co-coach of the year, coach brown deserves all the respect he gets. he puts in the HARD WORK it takes to develop basketball players year in and year out...and it works, just look at the gold balls in the display case. once you've developed a talented team, u can just sit there and occasionally look annoyed. maybe call a time out once and a while lol. but talent can make a coach look good...sometimes too good. rbs's coach is a very good case in point. a very talented team has made him look very good, and he has the accolades this year. its when you can take a mediocure team and win more than expected, thats what a good coach does in my opinion. but once again, i wanna congradulate rbs on a outstanding season and wish the girls good luck in the other sports that they might play and in the next bball season
  20. i do believe i have as much right as anyone else on this site to post my opinion on sports topics, and that is what i did. i made no personal attacks on anyone and if you read my post i congradulated rbs on thier fine season and wished them luck for next year. as far as where i'm from, that doesn't matter. i get on here and read about what the fans say about various sporting events that happen that someone or something that i am interested in are involved. i have read many many threads that involve both lafayette and rbs, and it is in my opinion that rbs fans (as well as lafayette fans, they are not exempt) have a habit of always wedging an excuse in there when they happen to lose a game. i'm not saying all rbs fans by no means. but there have been some occasions of sore losers after some games. it is rare that someone just says "we lost, they played better...end of story." when a team has a bad shooting night, or turn the ball over, or miss free throws then 9 out of 10 times you will lose a ball game if your playing talent comparable to your teams. and sometimes if you don't play well, u lose to bad teams...thats basketball. that is why we play the games, cause on any given night a team can catch another on an off night and win one. the good teams are the ones' that don't have an off night, or can find ways to win even when they are not clicking. and from what i have been told, rbs played well enough to win the ball game. i was honestly shocked that they made it that far (as i said) but they did and they should be proud. i think its a major accomplishment considering that in my opinion they were behind the 8 ball coaching wise seeing as i don't have a high opinion of the head coach or his coaching ability. but, once again that is my opinion and i have a right to it...and as far as being jealous of rbs's accomplishments, i am a grown ###### man. i would hope people would be above being jealous of some high school kids accomplishments...i mean come on... so if you wanna give your opinion on some sporting events then by all means post away on here....but if your gonna gripe about somebody else's opinion then send a letter to your congressman cause nobody else wants to hear it
  21. where are all the rbs fans on here complaining about how thier team should have won or how the refs were horrible or they just didn't have a good shooting night or all of the other excuses they've used over the years after a loss...i'm shocked that they haven't flooded coacht with them...whats the world coming to...could it be that they actually lost to a better team? i wasn't at the game so i didn't get to make my own anylazation of how both teams played so i won't comment on who was better cause i don't know. but a win is win and usually the better team wins i have found out over the years. congrats to red boiling for somehow surviving and making it to state. its akin to the freakin clippers making it to the NBA finals lol...they had a good team this year and have the chance to be very good for a long time if they don't suffer a let down like the always seem to do after a good season. but thats a coach's fault so u can't blame the girls... congrats to Forrest on thier win and good luck with the rest of the tourny. be proud of your accomplishments this year rbs, and good luck next year
  22. as terrible as macon's shooting was in the first half, rbs should have made it a 20 point game early. the foul situations actually were shocking because 99 out of a 100 rbs doesn't get those hand check (picky) fouls called....they did that game and all of a sudden "the ref's were terrible" granted i do not like to see those picky fouls called either, but u have to play the game the way the ref's call it whether u like it or not. but congrats to rbs for winning
  23. gotmilk must have watched a different game than i did because in the first half macon couldn't hit water if they fell out a boat, thats how bad they shot the ball. and it wasn't rbs's defense it was just poor shooting. rbs should have blown them out of the gym while macon was playing poorly. as far as the foul situation went, of course rbs fans are gonna be upset....they were getting fouls called on rbs, and that never happens in thier own gym. granted, the refs missed a few calls but that happenned to both teams so it evened out. and i would like to agree with the comment about letting a A team beat a AAA team, its a sad day when rbs beats macon in anything considering the size difference. reguardless though, rbs hung in there and had the most points on the board when the horn sounded and thats the bottom line. prolly a different outcome if macon would have shot the ball better...but there's always a woulda, coulda, shoulda isn't there
  24. HS by 10 or more.....more athletes, better shooters (over all), more size. more experience.....i could go on but my hands are shaking because i never thought i would say that about HS vs macon and i might have a stroke because its the truth....
  25. r u kidding me, white is not gonna go to a tourny without a HS or an eqilivant in it to beat up on. he won't play any compatition outside of who he absolutely has to play because he doesn't want any loss's on his record. so he'll play as many HS's as he can to get his 20 wins and when his girls haven't been throught the fire of a tough regular season(yes i know, he's in a tough region...who does he play outside of it) he'll get bounced in early in the post season tourny's.....just like he always does. and he'll still get praised as a good coach because he's got his 20 wins! and this will happen year after year as it has in the past...and nobody else finds this as disturbing as i do? o well.......... i'm pulling for HS to pull and upset and knock off whoever they play in the first round......good luck girls, maybe there's a virus or something running through the other team!
