  1. Walker Valley won 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Tough loss for Bledsoe County. Bledsoe's pitcher did a great job of keeping us off balance all night long. Bledsoe was very classy and their girl's played hard. Hope to see you next year coach. Great season Bledsoe! Coach Doan
  2. I hope that our friends at Sweetwater understand that this rude person on here is not a Walker Valley fan. You are right, I hope we never know who has to hide their comments behind a screen name. Coach Doan
  3. Walker Valley will host Bledsoe County @ 5:30 on Monday evening in the Region Semi-Finals!
  4. It has truly been an honor for me to coach against and become friends with Coach Weaver and Coach Ridgell from Sweetwater. As a young coach three years ago, they both welcomed me into the district and have been a fine example of class and integrity. Last night was about a lot more than a softball game. The young ladies from both teams witnessed a life lesson that will last a lifetime. They learned that when it is all said and done on the field, the only things that really matter are the relationships that are made. Coach Weaver and Ridgell, are prayers are with you, your families, and your team as you leave for Iraq. I am proud to have men like you fighting for our freedom so that we can play this silly little game of softball back here in the states. We at Walker Valley are already anxious for your return and look forward to many more memories on the diamond and in life. Read 2nd Corinthians 4:16-18 when you get a chance! Your Brother, Coach Doan
  5. Sweetwater won 4-0. Houser pitched a 3 hit shutout. Sweetwater played a great game tonight. Best of luck in the Region.
  6. Thanks for the congrats. Walker Valley defeated McMinn Central 8-0. Bain pitched a 1 hit shutout while striking out 11. We will play Sweetwater for the district 5 AA championship Friday at 6pm. Sweetwter defeated Meigs 1-0 in 7 innings tonight.
  7. Sweetwater defeated Meigs 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh and will play Walker Valley for the District Championship at 6pm on Friday at Sweetwater.
  8. District 5 AA is being played at Sweetwater today and Friday, and is being played as single elimination. #2 Sweetwater plays #3 Meigs at 4:30 and #1 Walker Valley plays #4 McMinn Central at 6:00. Championship game will be Friday. 6 AAA will probably play at Warner Park on Friday. Soddy is #1 and Red Bank is #2.
  9. They will play at 4:30 on Thursday and Walker Valley will play McMinn Central at 6:00. This is only if the weather allows it.
  10. Anyone that has played Sweetwater or that has seen Sweetwater knows that they are a very good team. Walker Valley has a very good team as well. However, the road through region 3 goes through East Ridge. I watched Adkins pitch for the Falcons and the girl can throw. Luckily, Houser and Bain can bring it as well. The answer will lie with team defense and who can make the big play at the crucial time. I don't see any letdowns from East Ridge. Though they better play their A game because they will most likely have to beat Sweetwater and Walker Valley to make it to the Sectionals. Both are hungry for a rematch after losing to East Ridge last year in the regionals. The Queen of the Diamond can always be knocked off for ONE night. Ask Soddy Daisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Scores For May 2

Walker Valley defeated Bradley Central 2-0.
  12. Walker Valley won 1-0 in the bottom of the 10th inning. Ashley Bain pitched a 3 hit shutout while walking 2. Sarah Houser pitched a great game as well. She struck out 11 and gave up five hits. April Richards started off the bottom of the 10th on second ITB rule. Coach Weaver called time and told Houser to intentionally walk Bain who had twon hits off her already. Meghan Rominger laid down a bunt and the fielder tried for the out at third. Ashton Burrell bunted on a squeeze but Sweetwater got the force at home. Brittney Tankersley scored Bain on a single to right field. It was a great defensive game for both teams as well as a tough pitching dual.
  13. Here are the top six that I have seen from Southeast Tennessee in no particular order. Sarah Warren-Boyd Buchanan Ashley Bain- Walker Valley Ashley Frizell- Soddy Daisy Harris- Soddy Daisy Ashley Adkins- East Ridge Sarah Houser- Sweetwater Brittany Rice- Ooltewah Unfortunately, I only have one pitcher this year. Therefore, we could not play in any tournaments and risk losing Bain for the season.
  14. Someone needs to tell them to update their scores regularly. I am sure they have heard of coacht.com in sweetwater. Yes, they do have a good team though.
  15. Sophomore Pitcher, Ashley Bain, of Walker Valley is starting the season off where she left it last year. After finishing her Freshman season with a .500+ batting avg, she currently has a .552 batting avg. with 6-2B, 2-3B, and 2 Sacs. She has only K'd twice in her first 29 at bats.
  16. Meagan Masingale is a great freshman for Walker Valley. She is a great outfielder and can hit from both sides of the plate. She has tremendous speed and loves to learn.
  17. You prbably should consider Walker Valley in your top 15. They defeated both Notre Dame and Ooltewah in their first 2 scrimmages. Lost to East Ridge 3-1 in the region tournament last year while picking up wins over non-district wins over Central, Notre Dame, and Bradley. Ashley Bain is a great pitcher along with April Richards behind the plate. They are young but have a lot to look forward to.
  18. Sarah Houser is a very good pitcher and she is also a good kid. I was impressed with her last year. Hopefully, my girls will lay off her high pitch this year. I think a great rivalry is coming in to play between WHVS and Sweetwater.
  19. Walker Valley's boys defeated McMinn Central on Friday evening at Walker Valley. The Mustangs gave Central its first district loss in 4 years. This was accomplished without WV having its starting center and having no real size to take his place. Good luck Mustangs!
  20. I am fortunate to have Ashley Bain pitching for Walker Valley HS. Not only is she a great pitcher, she is an outstanding player and person. Last year as a Freshman, Ashley had a BA of .415, sl% of 509, and an ob% of 456. She led the team with 106 at bats, scored 25 runs, had 44 hits, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 9 RBI's (lead off batter), only struck out 5 times, and lead the team with 18 stolen bases. She finished the year committing only 3 errors in 32 games and leading the team with 61 assists. She struck out 117 of the 665 batters she faced, averaging over 5 K's per game. She only allowed 148 hits yielding 48 earned runs. Great stats for a Freshman that had to pitch against Baylor, GPS, Soddy Daisy, Red Bank, East Ridge, Sequatchie, Bradley, Boyd Buchannon, and many other great teams. She pitched and played 3rd for the 14U Frost Falcons the last two summers. Thank God softball season is around the corner!

    Catchers

I am very fortunate to have one of the best young catchers in the state at Walker Valley. Last year as a Freshman, April Richards, posted big numbers and played like a senior. Her batting average was .385, slg% 714, ob% 467. She scored 23 runs, had 35 hits, 8 doubles, 5 triples, 4 home runs (over the fence), 23 RBI's and 11 stolen bases. She only had 7 passed balls in 32 games and was 12 for 36 on throwing runners out. One of those happened to be the center fielder for Soddy Daisy which led the state in stolen bases last year. April played catcher for the Frost Falcons 14U the last two years. She is the real deal.
  22. Great game by Walker Valley. The tournament should be exciting. Surprised that so many really predicted Central to win by such big numbers. I guess we are having to earn people's respect.
