  1. BMack, They had a hand in one of the turnovers. The fumble down on the goal line was a mishandled snap. The interception was thrown right to the defender. Our second fumble Arlington caused. The game is over. Nothing is going to happen to change it. Arlington won. Congrats. Errors and mistakes will have to be corrected or it's one and done for both teams.
  2. Both D 2 games will be on Thursday at 3:30 and 7. Friday you have 1A, 3A and 5A at noon, 3:30 and 7. Saturday is 2A, 4A and 6A at noon, 3:30 and 7 PM.
  3. Onefortheteam, you are correct about Crutchfield. I don't know why I was thinking he coached at Bartlett. But he is getting the job done over at Wooddale. Game will be played at Kirby HS. We have to have 0 turnovers to give us a chance. Can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot.
  4. Forecast is for sunshine all week long...thank God! (Sorry I don't remember any names for Wooddale at the moment) Trojans will have to find a way to stop their sophomore RB. Has around 1400 yds on the year. If I am not mistaken is 6'1 205. Wooddale runs the spread and has one huge OL that they tend to run behind. #10 on defense (LB) tends to be involved in almost every play. Assistant coach Lynord Crutchfield is very familiar with the Trojans having been the head coach at Bartlett not too long ago. Trojans will have to play mistake free football to advance to the second round. I still do not know where this game will be played. It will probably be sometime Monday or Tuesday until we find out.
  5. They have Whitehaven and Cordova right because they were both wild cards. They have Germantown right and Brighton (they were both district winners). Wooddale should have a home game because they were the highest rated of the #2's (at least I thought so) but it should have been as a #4 Since they moved Arlington, I thought it should have been this: 1) Germantown vs 8) Whitehaven (should be Cordova but since WS can't play WH first rd, a WC had to be moved) 4) Wooddale vs 5) Millington 2) White Station vs 7) Cordova 3) Brighton vs 6) Kirby (3rd AQ from their district)
  6. Let me change my tune. Arlington will at least get to play at home for the first couple of rounds if they win. Independence and the other mid state schools got screwed. Another observation: Does it not matter if you were an overall district winner? White Station beat everyone in 16-AAA and has to go on the road to play a 2nd place finisher in Wooddale? Why even bother winning the district if it means nothing as far as a home game.
  7. I can only speak for quad 4. Now that it looks like there are 9 teams in this quad, they will either ship out the lowest wild card (Cordova) or take the northern most team (depending on perspective) which would be Brighton or Arlington. If Cordova is shipped out (1) Arlington vs (8) Whitehaven (Wild card and wild cards are seeded last) (4) Brighton vs (5) Wooddale (2) Germantown vs (7) Millington (because of the 3 remaining teams, Germantown couldn't play Wooddale or Kirby-same district) (3) White Station vs (6) Kirby If Brighton is shipped out (1) Arlington vs (8) Whitehaven (Cordova should go here but can't play Arlington-same district) (4) Wooddale vs (5) Millington (2) Germantown vs (7) Cordova (3) White Station vs (6)Kirby If Arlington is shipped out (1) Germantown vs (8) Whitehaven (4) Wooddale vs (5) Millington (2) White Station vs (7) Cordova (Whitehaven should be here but can't play WS-same district) (3) Brighton vs (6) Kirby
  8. Kirby already played Thursday night and won 18-3 over Ridgeway. Nice job by Chester Flowers former Melrose coach.
  9. Well unfortunately for all the other teams in the wild card chase, I think Cordova wins this game. Bolton's best defensive player is out and I don't think they have enough in the tank to knock them off. Bolton lost to Bartlett last week and that shouldn't have happened.
  10. They were going to be 8th in this quad unless there was a wild card and that doesn't look like its going to happen but stranger things have happened. Like rain darn near every week!
  11. Kirby won 18-3 but they were already in as the 3rd automatic qualifier in District 15
  12. TraderB, from what my sources are telling me, Tommy West has already accepted a buyout and I would imagine that the whole staff will be replaced by whoever the new coach is.
  13. I wonder where Cordova fits in if they qualify and who is the unlucky one that gets shipped out.
  14. I saw something on the news Saturday or Sunday that said we have already had more than twice the amount of normal rain for October and that wasn't even counting today or what's coming Thursday and Friday. Unbelievable!
  15. I think at best Kirby is a 7 seed but probably the 8 seed. If you go on the assumption of who has already qualified for this quad and then look at the list of teams they are the last team listed in order of tiebreakers. I don't think in their case it matters where they finish. I think if Arlington, Brighton and Whitehaven win then its 1-Arlington 2-Germantown 3-White Station 4-Brighton 5-Whitehaven 6-Wooddale 7-Millington 8-Kirby If Millington, Brighton and Whitehaven win 1-White Station 2-Germantown 3-Brighton 4-Millington 5-Whitehaven 6-Wooddale 7-Arlington 8-Kirby Arlington's fall to 7 is based on the fact that they can't play Millington in the first round (same district) and Germantown can't play Wooddale or Kirby (same district) If Arlington and Brighton win and Whitehaven loses 1-Arlington 2-White Station 3-Germantown 4-Brighton 5-Wooddale 6-Millington 7-Kirby 8-Whitehaven (wild card) If Arlington wins and Brighton and Whitehaven lose 1-Arlington 2-Germantown 3-White Station 4-Wooddale 5-Millington 6-Kirby 7-Whitehaven (wild card) 8-Brighton (wild card) Overall district winners get seeded first then other automatic qualifiers then wild cards. If Millington wins and Brighton and Whitehaven lose 1-Germantown 2-White Station 3-Millington 4-Arlington 5-Wooddale 6-Kirby 7-Whitehaven 8-Brighton They would obivously have to switch a team in this case as WS and WH can't play each other.
  16. Ridgeway is 5A and if Kirby lost they would be 4th overall but they are still the 3rd 6A team in the league and the last automatic qualifier. They have already beaten the other 6A teams below them that could possible tie them for the last spot.
  17. Kwc, you are right in stating that WS can't play WH in the first round. But I think they would be more inclined to switch the 1 and 2 seeds than they would the wild cards. But I could be wrong.
  18. Brighton's only loss in district was to Munford. They hold all tiebreakers with Hardin Co. and Jackson Northside. So the worst they finish is 2nd and that would be as an automatic qualifier. As far as why Germantown wouldn't be number 1 overall if Arlington loses is this. Going on the assumption that Cordova doesn't get in, you have your eight teams. You can't play any team from your district in the first round and Kirby is the lowest team listed in all of the tiebreakers. Since Kirby would be #8, Germantown couldn't play them in the first round and therefore the Red Devils are #2. Arlington wins, Brighton doesn't (1) Arlington vs (8) Kirby (4) Whitehaven vs (5) Brighton (2) Germantown vs (7) Millington (3) White Station vs (6) Wooddale Millington wins, Brighton doesn't (1) White Station vs (8) Kirby (4) Whitehaven vs (5) Arlington (2) Germantown vs (7) Brighton (3) Millington vs (6) Wooddale Brighton would have been 6 but since Germantown and Wooddale can't meet in the first round, they are switched.
  19. If they are going to go by geography, then somebody in this area is going to get screwed. If they are going to penalize anyone (and I don't have anything against Cordova), then it needs to be a wild card. Kwc, I have been under the assumption that they would see the overall district winners first then the other automatic qualifiers and then any wild cards. Let's just say regardless of what Arlington does, they ship them out and your scenario unfolds like you think it might. White Station, Germantown and Brighton would be the first 3 seeds and then the other automatic qualifiers would be seeded according to the tiebreaking procedure set forth by the TSSAA. You still have to factor in matchups because then you would have 1 team from D-13, 2 teams from D-14, 3 teams from D-15 and 2 from D-16 and teams from the same district can't play each other in the first round. I would guess that the draw would be something like this 1) Germantown (district winner) 2) White Station (district winner) 3) Brighton (district winner) 4) Whitehaven (automatic qualifier) 5) Wooddale (automatic qualifier) 6) Millington (automatic qualifier) 7) Kirby (automatic qualifier) 8) Cordova (wild card) (1) Germantown vs (8) Cordova (4) Whitehaven vs (5) Wooddale (2) White Station vs (7) Kirby (3) Brighton vs (6) Millington That's my educated guess. If Millington beat Arlington, they would be the district winner and it might go like this. (1) Germantown vs (8) Cordova (4) Millington vs (5) Whitehaven (2) White Station vs (7) Kirby (3) Brighton vs (6) Wooddale
  20. Kirby is already locked in as the #3 team from their district regardless of whether they win or lose. They have the tiebreaker with all of the teams that could be tied with them as they have already beat them.
  21. That's why the post says as of week 9. Everybody that I have listed there are automatic qualifiers and that takes priority over wild cards. If Cordova does get in as a wild card, they will probably get shipped out.
  22. The guaranteed money is just for the state championships itself. Has nothing to do with the other playoff games leading up to it.
  23. Well enlighten us instead of just posting not accurate. The only thing that I haven't accounted for is this. Right now Whitehaven is the number 2 team in the district and therefore an automatic qualifier. However, if Melrose defeats Whitehaven Friday night, Melrose would slide up and be the number 2 team. Whitehaven would still make the playoffs as a wild card but that would change the entire dynamics of the bracket. They will seed the overall district winners first then the other automatic qualifiers and then the wild cards. An Arlington win and a Whitehaven loss will make the bracket look like this: (1) Arlington vs (8) Whitehaven (4) Brighton vs (5) Wooddale (2) White Station vs (7) Kirby (3) Germantown vs (6) Millington A Millington win and Whitehaven loss: (1) Germantown vs (8) Whitehaven (4) Millington vs (5) Wooddale (2) White Station vs (7) Kirby (3) Brighton vs (6) Arlington At least that's how I see it. TraderB, I do agree that Millington matches up with Germantown better than they do with Whitehaven. However, Millington and Whitehaven have a long playoff history playing each other 6 times. If I am not mistaken each team has won 3 games each and the home team won each time.
