  1. Hey man worry about your own program. From what I saw Mt. Pleasant may have issues this year so leave it alone. Who knows Spring Hill might have issues as well? I'm just saying no one knows yet. I know for a fact though that Spring Hill is rotating linemen on offense and defense this year and did so on Friday night from the start. The bottom line is that Spring Hill was up 14-0 after two offensive series. I'm sure Mt. Pleasant had a few starters in on that last offensive series when they tried to score. It was probably linemen though so you'll probably deny it. But, you are right. Who knows what would've happened if they'd kept playing? The bottom line is that it was a jamboree/scrimmage so it doesn't matter. The Mt. Pleasant fans themselves have said the same thing after they got beat the other night but yet they keep coming back to Spring Hill discussions on here and get all defensive about a jamboree! Good luck against Lewis Co. and the season.
  2. First to "66 in 74"... Yes, all I'm going to say is that he wanted a change. I wouldn't get into any more details than that if there was any. Especially on a ###### message board... And to "theyoungtiger"... You don't deserve a response with a message like that one. AGAIN.. You have no idea what you're talking about and I'd suggest you quit posting hear say on the internet about high school programs. Unless YOU have spoken to a coach/CURRENT player I wouldn't post things like that. And, I'm sure you'll come back now and say you spoke to someone on the team. Us "fans" of other schools could come on here and spout off how they think Mt. Pleasant will fall off like a rock now that Dailey's gone but guess what? We don't know. That remains to be seen. But, I'd suggest you not keep it up. I wouldn't throw stones though(No pun intended). I do know that. I wouldn't post any Mt. Pleasant rumors even if I knew any but others out there just might. So, remember that and also remember these are high school kids. Nothing is wrong with supporting your school/alma mater but going on the internet with crap like that, espicially if it's hear say (THAT MEANS COMING FROM ANYONE BUT THE DIRECT SOURCE) is wrong. I'd just suggest watching it from now on especially if it doesn't involve the school you have direct involvent with.
  3. I agree that the information box above Cheatham County's article says 2006 but it does say IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH of the article about the team directly below the box that they made the playoffs last year despite winning four games. I agree that it does sort of contradict itself but anyone that cares about Cheatham County would know they made the playoffs last season. And I'm not defending Fair's magazine. I'm just pointing this out.
  4. Not trying to be a know it all but I have a brother in the media that covers the Maryville/Alcoa area and he recently interviewed the Athletic Director at Alcoa. He said that the recent article published is about 90% incorrect. He said that the jerseys WERE NOT given to them by Nike. Alcoa High School though DID receive a large private donation to purchase the new jerseys. He also said that he didn't know where the writer got the information and Alcoa is not an "official" Nike school... Again, just passing this info along.
  5. You have no idea what you're talking about here. Stay out of a discussion if you have no idea about details of a situation. Obviously you don't (most anyone on here won't either) showing from the way you phrased that... Please, stick to Mt. Pleasant.
  6. The open position should have been posted at the end of last week. Not sure about the website though. As far as Coach OSKIAN, not "Oskins." That will likely not happen since he does not have a teaching certificate and lack of coaching experience as well at the high school level. And as far as the Banks kid. He is electric from what I hear but I also heard that he won't play football in high school and that he might not even play in Maury County next year anyway. It sound like he might play basketball only. This is what I HEARD and for Spring Hill's sake I hope I'm wrong but you couldn't blame the kid if this is true.
  7. To Blue Devil... I agree with most if not all that you're saying. But, I do have a correction. Coach Cox only played Columbia Central once before he left and that was in 2001. It was a good game, maybe only a one or two TD margin. That was a pretty good Central team too since they found it easier in 4A. (Of course). If you are referring to the almost annual scrimmage in the Jamboree that Spring Hill and Central played against each other in. Then, I wouldn't exactly count those as "wins". Yes, I realize that a lot of emotion went into those Jamboree matchups on both sides and that was all anyone had to guage as far how the programs compared. But, remember they were just that, Jamborees. Although it's hard to deny that beating Central in just a Jamboree was big for Spring Hill... By the way, I'm pretty sure that Coach Stone has turned down the job before in previous coaching changes. I guess he doesn't want to be a head coach. Just a guess.
  8. First off I'd like to thank Coach McKnight and his family for their dedication the last four seasons and good luck in his future career in the Tennessee National Guard. Coach McKnight will be missed by a lot of people... A detailed and LONG Spring Hill football history from the facts I have: If my research is correct, Coach Cox coached from 1995-2001. I know for a fact that he had only one Region Championship and that was the 1998 season. I think looking back he was a pretty good coach, but to call these the "glory days" for our Alma Mater is wrong in my opinion. In my opinion, the so called "Glory Days" were the early Eighty's through about 1992 which was the first year in the new high school. A couple of GREAT athletes and a great head coach and his staff deserve many of the thanks for those times. During that span (1980-1992)Spring Hill had 9 playoff appearances, won the Class A State Championship in 1986 and came within' four points of another Clinic Bowl birth in 1992 in a 17-14 loss. That semi-final game against BGA in 1992 was a great game by the way. What happened after that is what we'll call "growth" (SATURN). The growth finally forced the school to have to move up to 2A in 1993. Mediocrety set in then as the program could not keep up with the school's population growing and not long after that the school moved up to 3A in football in 1995. They did however go to the playoffs in 1993 and 1994 in an apparently bad 2A Region that they were in at the time. The enrollment was growing but the amount of football talent hadn't caught up yet. I believe Coach Cox was hired before the 1995 season as they moved up to 3A. The next season,1996, was Coach Cox' first playoff appearance as he went 4-6 and had a playoff win. And in 1997 he went 6-4 with a playoff win. Spring Hill finally settled in during it's fourth season in 3A when they won the Region Championship in 1998. That team had a lot of talent, but you would also have to give Coach Cox a lot credit for the success that season. But, the team wound up losing a dissappointing second round home playoff game to McNairy Central... That was the last sniff of success Spring Hill had in football until the playoff appearance and first round win last season... I believe prior to 1999 the (for lack of better words) "convenient rezoning" of the Spring Hill/Columbia Central zones took place that forced Spring Hill to move up in classification once again. This time it was up to 4A. This severly damaged all of athletic programs as the school did not have the talent to consistently compete in 4A in football as well as 3A in basketball. I believe Coach Cox was let go after the 2001 season, for multiple reasons, and the school has now gone through their second coach since then. They were the bottom dwellers of that Region 5, 4A group with other schools like Hickman County and White County until this "rezoning" was changed back in time for the reclassification before the 2005 season that allowed Spring Hill to rejoin Class 3A where it should be. Now don't get me wrong, Spring Hill could still continue to grow and be forced to go to 4A again, but this needs to happen from natural growth and not as a result of "rezoning"... Back to the subject of the 1990's being the "Glory Years". Now, was the school a good, fun place to be on Friday nights throughout the Ninetys like most high schools? Yes, it was. But that fact hasn't changed to this day in a lot of ways. Looking back, it wasn't the "Glory Years". But I'd have to admit that compared to the last ten years since 1999, with the exception of last year, it would SEEM like "Glory Years". With that being said, Spring Hill High School on Friday nights is STILL more times than not a fun place to be. In my opinion, the football was just "respectable" post 1992, except for the 1998 Region Championship due mostly to their six year stint in 4A. I think Spring Hill is still trying to recover from that 1999-2004 stint in 4A because of what it did to the whole moral of the football program... Sorry for the long post. By the way, I'm going to refrain from posting any comments about potential new coaches on here until something is official.
  9. Info for Alcoa fans: Our field at Spring Hill High School seats about 2000. The visitor side bleachers has the capabilities of holding 700, maybe 800 if tightly seated. It is also important to note that the bleachers are in fact concrete with no back supports (like most schools) so be sure to bring your stadium chairs if you have them. Big Country, is correct that the press box is very small and it is usually an issue when the visiting team brings a radio crew. I assume that Alcoa will bring a radio crew. Is this correct? As for the field itself, they're having trouble with the drought and various things like wild goose grass in areas of the field. The sub-freezing weather in early April also hurt it for various reasons. The field doesn't look great, but I have seen many that look worse. I wish everyone representing Alcoa High School good luck on your trip down and take it easy on the Raiders. We look forward to hosting a top-notch program like Alcoa. Also, Spring Hill High School welcomes anyone from around the mid-state that wants a rare opportunity to see a program like Alcoa playing their back yard. P.S... Yes, that is correct "Virginia Tornado" that Murfreesboro is about 45 minutes from Spring Hill.
  10. Just to clarify one point MPTigerT made. James "Little Man" Stewart was anything but small. He actually played at 6'1" 226 lbs. The nickname "Little Man" was given to him by his dad when he was a kid and I guess it was just one of those things that happen to stick sometimes. Probably because he ended up being such a big guy.
  11. Same as "SHRaider" said. It just wasn't meant to be with the two injuries so early in the game. It still would've been a difficult game with them playing the whole way... Very impressed with Lipscomb. They looked even better than they did in the first game in late September... Again, congrats to the Spring Hill players and coaches on a great season. You made a lot of alumni/fans proud this year. It was definitely a season to build on. All of this years seniors should be proud that they were the outgoing class that got the program going in a winning direction again. I hope all of you come to games next year and in the future and support the program as proud alumni.
  12. Are you reading this Spring Hill players and coaches? You are being told by Lipscomb players/fans that you "do not have a chance" and David Lipscomb will "Win by four or five touchdowns." Nothing else needs to be said. I wouldn't respond to any of this. Do not give them anything to read like they've just given you... WHATEVER IT TAKES
  13. It's up to Spring Hill. They have to decide whether or not they believe they can do it... I challenge any other Spring Hill fans/alumni out there that was in Lexington to show up in Nashville next week and create from the blow of the first whistle on what you created in the 3rd quarter. Anyone that was there last night knows what I'm talking about and nothing else needs to be said about it... Way to go Raiders. You made a lot of Spring Hill fans/alumni proud. Trust me... Whatever it takes.
  14. Might want to get your facts straight "rhl". If you say you can clearly see that the tailback scored on the two point play then it's a possibility you are a South Pittsburgh fan that's still bitter twenty years later. I personally have the game on film and have seen the of the play (many, many times this year as a matter of fact since it is the twentieth anniversary of the Championship) and their is no way to tell where the player is in relation to the goalline once he dissappears into the pile. All you can tell is that it was a very close play. And to set you straight on the pass play for a TD. This was a legal play and if I'm correct the TSSAA had to change the rule and be more clear on how to break an offensive huddle as a result of this play. Great so called "trick play" called by head coach Buford Gladney... And by the way the score was 21-20. Yet another error... But, I do thank you for reminding everyone on this board of the 1986 Class A State Championship game. It was a great day for the once tiny town of Spring Hill. Man, how things have changed in such a short period of time.
  15. Final: Spring Hill 30 Creekwood 14 Great job to any Spring Hill players that are out there and might see this. You made a lot of current and former SHHS students/players proud tonight. You put Spring Hill High School back in the playoffs. Will you let it end in the first round against a good Lexington team?? By the way Raider 27... If you mean Mt. Pleasant is the best in the county based on just making the playoffs alone, then yeah they have been the best for a few years now. But, in my opinion Spring Hill would beat Mt. Pleasant in MOST years and Columbia Central would beat Mt. Pleasant EASILY every year, regardless of how bad Central's record is. Of course Central is a 5A team and Mt. Pleasant 1A and that's the way it should be. Rarely do teams with that big of a Class difference ever play. Same with Spring Hill being a 4A team a few years ago and now a 3A team. An average 3A team SHOULD be able to beat a really good 1A team.
  16. Spring Hill is now AA in basketball/spring sports. They were barely a 3-A school to begin with. It was rediculous how they got placed in that classification in 1999-2000 (few understand). Being put in 3-A in basketball and 4-A in football almost single handedly ruined many things about that school. They are now were they belong and as a Spring Hill High School alum it is good to see that the school has something positive to get behind athletic wise (of the major sports) for the first time in about six years.
