Antioch Preseason Scuffle Saturday, November 19th, 2016 Wrestling begins at 9:00 am Double elimination….1minute periods, everyone is guaranteed 2 matches. Wrestlers divided into ( beginners (one year varsity or less) and (A) advanced. Girls will be grouped by closest weight. Maximum of Two wrestlers per weight class, per division (ex. 119 B-2 wrestler 119 A-2 wrestlers) TSSAA hydration and body fat certification from 6:30- 9:00 am with Wade Bartlett Cost is $5.00 per wrestler payable day of scrimmages. Cash or Checks payable to Antioch High School. Admission for spectators is $5 at the gate. *Coach or Assistant must be in attendance. Cane Ridge High School in Nashville is looking for a Head Wrestling Coach. James Reese is the athletic principal and should be contacted if interested.

Antioch November 19th, wrestling starts at 9. Hydration testing starts at 6 am.

No talk about this one, but Antioch wins first game since 2014, beating Lavergne 24-18. Bears did a good job shutting down RB that ran for a ton against Smyrna, and had to intercept a pass in the end zone to end the losing streak.

Hendersonville's RB is Fitzgerald's nephew. Was with mom in Hendersonville, lives with Dad now. Not recruiting as much as old players wanting their son's to play for him. Excellent role model for impoverished young men.

Who wouldn't want to play for Fitzgerald. Plus it's a magnet school, essentially open enrollment. They are going to be scary. Watch out for their basketball team as well.

Cane Ridge is going to be a pretty good team. They bring back 20 starters, plus kids that got PT last season. Could end up in Cookeville. Also Hillsboro is pretty loaded as well. 5A championship stays in Middle Tennessee

I am already heavily involved in other sports in the school. Now if the coach needs offseason help getting the team better, the wrestling mat and track are awaiting anyone that wants to make it to the next level!!!!!

I talked to a coach. First tiebreaker is head to head. 2nd is total points scored in the matches. Which goes to Indy. Then according to this coach, the tiebreaker starts over with the other 2, which is head to head. Which gives Centennial the tiebreaker over Summit. Just going by what I was told.

I'm happy someone thinks that highly of my team. Could Antioch get in possibly. WG,yea we lost to both, early in the season. Moving folks around to have a full lineup. I don't think the score will be the same 2nd time around. Take duals last year. Summit had pasted us 3 weeks earlier. But had a dog fight later. It is a mess on that side. Looks like Antioch and McGavock from this side again. Good luck to all when the time comes

PC played physical from the opening kickoff. It reminded me of some old film I saw of the 97 team. They literally beat East up. East players were falling down instead of taking hits. With that said, I think East had some athletes. But our athletes were better last night. My Firebirds are headed to dance again.

Animal said it right. I had about 20 football players lined up to wrstle this year, and from a team that finished 0-11, you would think the football coaches would do everything possible to get better. I havekept 4 from the 20. 4/16 that did not stay were told by the assistant coaches that they were losing too much weight, and they would not be able to play NEXT SEASON. The others said that the workout was too hard. Once again, football did not win a single game. Then the funny part was, there were several linemen that tried out for basketball. 0-11. I will leave that there. Lol

Mt. Juliet this year is not on the same level as Whitehaven. I have seen both play. MJ does not have the speed to keep up with the Haven. Take McGavock and Cane Ridge, two teams that dominated MJ, and multiply that by 2. It will be a long night for another group of Bears.

What can be said is that McGavock is not Lebanon. Haven't seen White Station, and this running back seems to be the truth. Just know that McGavock can match speed with anyone, offensively and defensively. I honestly think its going to come down to which coach game plans better. Hopefully McGavock can pull this one out.

Antioch will once again host the annual Antioch Preseason Scuffle on Saturday November 21. Wrestling will begin at 9 am, and run throughout the day. We have been done the past few years by 3 pm. Hydration testing will begin at 6:30 am. $5 per wrestler. Admission is $5. Have a few spots open, if interested contact Jerome.dooley@mnps.org
