  1. Right now I see it as a three way race for the region crown. Greenback, Coalfield, and Midway. Oneida and CAK with losses are on the outside looking in. If Midway gets back healthy wouldn't surprise me a bit to see them run the table.
  2. Greenback, Coalfield, Midway, and Oneida will go to the playoffs in no particular order. As of this point I would have to say Coalfield is playing the best. Greenback is a close second. Way for Greenback is probably the best all around player in the region. MPG being a close second. Steven Hensley, Rhyne Douglas, and Cameron Headrick all deserve mentioning. I guess CAK is the surprise team. I'll be surprised if they knock off one of the others. Surprised but not shocked. If they play good they can beat any of the above 4. Also when Midway gets back healthy everyone better watch out they may just run the table and take the region crown, if they're being under estimated.
  3. Uhhhh yeah. He was only voted The Class A State MVP that year. Ricky could play. I'm anxious to see which of these defenses can slow down the other one. Greenback and Coalfield both have awesome running backs. I think Coalfield probably has more offensive weapons than Greenback. But I think Greenback has a little more size than Coalfield. Should be a great game. I'm expecting 55-65 points put up by the two combined. Both coaches will be pulling out everything for this one.
  4. Harriman Coalfield + Speed + + Strength + Experience + + Line Play + QB RB + WR + + Linebackers + + Secondary + Special Teams + I think that is pretty close as to how I would break it down. It's going to be a very close game. If Coalfield's QB can throw the ball like he did the first two games Coalfield will win. But if he doesn't look for Coalfield's offense to struggle. All this speed everyone is talking about isn't going to mean anything. Both teams are very fast and I believe that it will all come out in the wash. Yes, I think Harriman has some kids that can catch MP. Physical play and turnovers will decide this ball game.
  5. Region 1 Cloudland Cosby Jellico Unaka Grace Christian Oneida TSD Region 2 Coalfield Sunbright Oakdale Harriman Midway Greenback Region 3 Copper Basin Grace Baptist Lookout Valley South Pitt Temple Whitwell Region 4 Gordonsville Watertown Friendship Christian Clay Co. Mt. Juliet Christian RBS Trousdale Co. Monterey It's fun to guess. Not sure about regions 5 and up. Not as familiar with those areas.
  6. Coal Hill Christian Academy? Never heard of it.
  7. Schools do not send the numbers to TSSAA. TSSAA gets them from the state department of education. And I don't think a school principal is going to fudge his numbers and get less funding from the state for his school. Even money talks louder than sports.
  8. 1.Rockwood 2.Kingston 3.Harriman 4.Coalfield 5.Oneida tie 5.Midway tie
  9. I love these momma's who get on here and want to clean up and fix the sports world. It's hilarious really. Team practices hard . Coach watches film works hard at practice. TEAM looses. Coach gets blamed. Doesn't matter if he went 10-0 the year before. Doesn't matter if he lost every starter from the year before. Parents take nothing into consideration except that their baby isn't winning and somebody is gonna pay. Coaches that have coached for 20+ years won many games. Been praised for years and years. Still fall victim to the talent bug. It'll get you. Everyone remember. 1. There is no substitute for talent in coaching. 2. And talent comes and goes. 3. And no coach likes to loose. Also consider this. Just because a kid is fast doesn't mean: 1. He can remember the plays. 2. Does what he is told. 3. He has the correct attitude toward the team and coach. 4. He can make a tackle.
  10. Cameron Headrick from Oakdale. He plays some of the best Single A LB I've seen. He can lay a lick. The boy isn't a bad FB either.
  11. Yes OS will be the largest single A school in the entire state in basketball and baseball. Have no idea about district make-ups. But when OS was single A in the 80's they were in the district with coalfield wartburg, etc.
  12. Oliver Springs will be single A in basketball and baseball also.
  13. If Coalfield thinks they're going to waltz into Oneida and smear them then they're about to get knocked off their horse. Oneida is still Oneida espically at their home field. It's a hard place to win. Oneida will have to find a way to keep Coalfield's speed in check. Turnovers and penalties will decide this game. I'm expecting a very very close ballgame.
  14. I was kinda wondering the same thing. Must be different than the basketball big ones. They must be concentrating more on AA to AAAAA. I haven't seen hardly any A games on it. But I'm sure it's hard to decide which games to pick from it being so early in the season. I do wish they would get some of those good A region rivalry games on there.
  15. Any injuries on either side to report?
  16. Your not making excuses? Sounds like you are to me. I don't know your child. I don't know if he's a good child or not and don't care. But I do know that if mommy makes excuses for him his whole life when he does something he shouldn't then he's probably not ever going to accept responsibility for his actions. And I'm tired of these mommas coming on here defending their little babies. You have young men. They play a man's sport. They need to take responsibility for their actions like a man. I'm not saying hang him in the town square, but don't get your dander up just because your son did something wrong and was criticised for it. Criticism makes us better people and we learn from our mistakes. No one likes it, but it's part of life. And football as well as other sports can teach us a lot about life.
  17. throwing what game? I'm in the dark. Fill me in.
  18. Bottomline Shelbyville fans are getting on here defending their program. Good that is the first step, hometown pride. I like that. However, one interesting point. No one has yet to say the magical words. "THEY DON'T RECRUIT". That's all this is about. Doesn't matter if your whole team is recruits or one is. Cheating is cheating. And true I don't know how many players off of this years team are home grown. I'm sure it's not all of them though. And no Woosley didn't play at Shelbyville her whole career. Came from Coffee Co. maybe. Not sure on that though.
  19. Now your friend could have played for the better program if he had set out a year. I would have no problem whatsoever if transfers would sit out a year and then play. Because that would cut down on the transfers. And if you had worked harder instead of sulking about losing and blaming TSSAA instead of yourselves maybe you would've won a couple more games. I didn't win a lot in high school but I wouldn't have went to another school for any amount of money in the world. Don't get me wrong Shelbyville isn't the only school that recruits, they're just the best at it. So you people seriously think the best girls team in AAA just happens to end up in Shelbyville 8 out of every 10 years by some crazy coincidence. Don't think so. Cheating is Cheating.
  20. Never said Shelbyville was the only one. They're just the most prevalent. And I don't think the Greenville's run this year had anything to do with recruiting. In the future it probably will however. And I haven't heard of any school in a long time not taking out of county students for tuition. This has been going on a long time and unless Greenville is behiend in the times I'm sure it's been going on there a long time too. However, I don't know the statistics but I would guess that well over half of Shelbyville's team should be playing somewhere else. And I wouldn't get glory out of playing poker with a 5 year old, stacking the deck, and taking his money. So what glory is there in Shelbyville winning the state championship.
  21. Well basically I see it as Shelbyville is winning state titles with all-star teams. These aren't girls from that area. Maybe some are but not most. Whatever happened to playing for the name of the city or county on the jersey. Everyone needs to have a little more pride and commitment to their hometown or school. I wouldn't move my child anywhere to play ball unless I felt there was a moral problem with the coach or something. If your child is good enough to play college ball they'll get noticed no matter where they play. Also, what's so hard about coaching and winning state titles with a bunch of all-americans. Insell may be a very good coach, but he hasn't instilled the fundamentals of the game into these girls. They come to him already polished players. It's easy to coach talent. I will say it seems he does a good job keeping them together. It would be easy for a bunch of all-americans to fight amongst each other. I think these coaches who take their hometown girls and work with them from the time their freshmen or before and turn them into basketball players are the coaches that need praise. I wouldn't be proud if I was Shelbyville that I struggled for most of the game with a bunch of girls born and raised in Greenville. However, I will also say this I would say that it's getting to the point now that Shelbyville probably doesn't recruit as much as you think. Players probably come just in the hopes of making the team. If you want to be on an all-star team do that in AAU, if you want to play high school basketball play for the name on the jersey.
  22. Oak Ridge's pt guard Jennifer Hendricks and Snow are both supposedly going to Montavello in Alabama. Jennifer has signed, Michelle hasn't.
  23. Well I was afraid that the tougher schedule that Livingston plays would better prepare them for state tournament environment. Both teams have had an excellent season. Good luck to LA the rest of the way.
