  1. Just taking a look at the proposed realignments, and Heritage has a lot more problems than speed and agility. They will be placed in a district with Maryville, WB, Farragut, Bearden, Catholic and Knox West. Not to be cynical, but where is a win in those games? A new coach will be looking at such a brutal schedule.
  2. Nothing like watching Virginia Tech come into Lane Stadium to Metallica's "Enter Sandman". I don't even like VT
  3. I am reflecting on my time in high school and thinking of the great games with rival schools that have fallen by the wayside for different reasons. Jefferson County and Rhea County use to have some wars. The same can be said for Oak Ridge and the Patriots. Lets hear about others.
  4. I hate to hear that about Stuff. A kid getting hurt in his senior year. I agree about Claiborne.
  5. Carter and Seymour seem to be way in front of the region. Who else will qualify for te playoffs? By the way, what happened to Kyle Stuff from Gibbs? He was a good player last year as junior, but I do not see him in the prep xtra stats.
  6. I hate to say it but you may be right. I remember back in the old days when i played for Jeff Co, the Cocke Co. game was usually for the distict title. They had some great athletes like Pedro Gudger, Scotty Dykes, Marcus Carter, etc. Even leter with Bubba White. I would like to see them get back to a competitive level. Not to start a huge debate or problem, but I saw them play this year and did not see many blck players at all. Was this a problem? Again, not trying to start any trouble or insuate a problem. Just asking?
  7. I too would like to congratulate Coach Anderson and the rest of the staff for a good year. I thought the team showed a lot more heart this season. Also, you guys were pretty hard in JC4life, he simply was asking a question about some of the staff members leaving for other jobs or not coaching for other reasins. I don't think he was calling for anyones head.
  8. Ahh!! Another Jefferson County graduate in the coaching ranks. It is good to see "cake boy" doing well.
  9. OF course. How could we all be so blind? Notright must have been Swafford's professional wrestling manager /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />!! It makes total sense. Notright holds the administration personally responsible for ruining his ticket to fame and fortune!!
  10. Miney, you are a great poster and very knowledgable. Do you forsee your Hornets and my Patriots getting it on for real any time soon. I know they scrimmage some.
  11. Notright, you are an idiot!! How many times in the history of South-Doyle or Doyle for that matter has the football team beaten HAlls, Maryville, Central, or Powell? Maybe once or twice in twenty five years. This years team went 4-6 and lost the starting QB. BE REALISTIC!!
  12. I believe that the program is heading in the right direction, but some new ideas on offense might help. As for coaching changes, I think one of the major benefits we had in the eighties was consistancy within the staff. Just like the players, coaches have to learn how to work together within the system.
  13. I have been doing some research and have found a few interesting stats. Other than Maryville and Powell, SD scored more points on every opponent this season. They also lost 1 game to an opponent who did not make the playoffs (Clinton) and closed the gap on Halls. The team has improved steadily for four straight years in the toughest 4A region in the state, and averages over 360 yards a game this season. Sounds like a coaching change is needed here? IF so, I hope Jon Gruden or David Cutcliff are available for SD to hire /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  14. Now none of you guys think the Blount Co. Schools recruit do you? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I find it very ironic that a lot of good athletes from surrounding counties end up in these schools. But the TSSAA will never investigate there "priviledged" programs
  15. Maybe this is the problem. New blood in the IMAC may be needed? Do you think the rise of football at both Morristown schools and Greenville may have caused problems for bball?
  16. The teams in this region simply do not match up with the teams they must play. Carter, Seymour, Rutledge and Gibbs are not fast enough or physical enough to stay competitive with Fulton,Catholic, AE, or AC. It is just that simple. Not coaching or scheme, just athletic ability.
  17. Being from JC, it is extremely hard to root for DB. However, region pride must make me say GO TRIBE!! By the way, Sterling is the biggest 185 lbs I have seen. I think he is more around 205-210. Good luck
  18. Isn't it amazing how winning can cure some ails. This is the same coaching staff that had to move their team to the visitor sidelines and have their wives escorted to the car by police after games a few years ago. I hate that MEadows left us at JC, but I am happy he is haviing success at WB
  19. Reached a ceiling? How do you figure that?
  20. After watching Farragut explode in the second half (what a run on the 84 yarder), I don't think it will matter much who they play. Farragut is really good!
  21. Any word on how the Patriots have looked? Is the Stepp kid playing or is he doing indoor track?
  22. How can you blame coaches for blowing a 27 point lead? To me, it shows that the team was prepared to play. Is that not a coaches job, to have their team prepared and ready to play?
  23. I forgot to add my prediction. I do think if Jeff Co can control the ball, they can keep it close for a while. Farragut eventually will pull away and win comfortably. In my opinion, only Bearden will advance from Region 1.
  24. We ran the veer for years aound these parts and were very successful becausewe had far superior talent. I firmly believe that todays defensive athletes are just too quick to run just the veer. Carson-Newman has been mentioned several times. Even they are in three and four wide sets now and throwing the ball 20-30 times a game. The veer does not require an intricate pasing game, but you must throw it some.
