  1. Wayne Co by 1 point. Perry had a shot at the buzzer but it hit off the side of the rim. Wayne Co shot poorly at the free throw line to keep Perry in the game. No one seerms to shoot free throws well against Perry. They have the best free throw defense around it appears???!!!!?
  2. PTGUARD12, Are you OK??? Haven't seen any posts lately.
  3. I thought all 4 of the winners had stretches where they only played average or worse. All of the losers had stretches where they outplayed the eventual winners. None of the winners looked like the team to beat. This was the first year since I've been going to the 'Boro that i have wondered how 1 or more of the teams got there. All 8 teams were very good. The difference was the winner was able to play well when the game was in the balance. WC made their free throws when they had to, JC got defensive stops when Wartburg got on a run, Bradford took care of the ball at crunch time under some tremendous pressing pressure, CR held OS down long enough that KC heroics at the end couldn't beat them. If any of the 4 teams left play well for 32 minutes and the other team doesn't, they will move on. No one really looked much better than the other remaining three. From what I saw, any of the teams still standing can win it this year.
  4. With all due respects to itstime, I don't see any team that is going to be very good in D12A. I think D11A is also down next year. I really have a problem seeing anyone in Region 6 getting to the 'Boro next year. But with that said, it seems every year some players from a Team make a big jump improvement and PRESTO they are competative and get there. Just have to see.
  5. Any process used to select an All Anything Player in a Team Sport will always have problems. The lock down defensive player or point guard field general will not be selected even if they were a major reason for the TEAM success unless they also score a bunch of points. Points scored is about the only basis (except for maybe bias) that is usually used for selection. District 12A has the perfect selection process for a TEAM sport. There are no all district players just team players.
  6. A couple of games before we played C'wood we started really playing well. Very, very fast and not turning the ball over while doing it. That is how we beat C'wood. This was really about a 5 point game because they had to foul and we made the free throws to increase the margin. Then Dabbs sprained her ankle and will not (should not) play this season. She still limps when walking on it. If she wasn't our top scorer and rebounder, she was at least second in both categories. Then Leegan sprained her ankle but fortunately not as severe and played well against Summertown. We are not likely to have won without her. She is the only player we have that can consistantly beat the player in front of her and break down a defense by dishing off or scoring it. We have a lot of trouble with tall teams. If we cannot get back court turnovers, we will have a lot of problems winning a half court game. So it is PC run and gun versus SF power inside. Which ever team can dictate the tempo has a huge advantage. In any event, we have to have at least a average night at the 3 point line. If we go cold from there, we are 1 and done. This should be a very interesting game to watch. No matter who wins, I don't see either of us getting past C'wood who I think will win at home and the most probable of all the 8 Teams competing to get to the Regioal Finals. I will be at the game and I'm pulling for PC. I think they win by 8.
  7. This is a pick'em game. Give the edge to PC being at home where they should should have at least a reasonable shooting per centage. I doubt if there will be much of a crowd difference because Moore County usually supports their team even if it is a 2-3 hour drive. Either of them will have a tough game against the winner of Richland/Summertown.
  8. I am a retired 30+ year referee and I've certainly seen a lot of funny things in the 800 or so games I've been a part of. I'll share just one. It was a middle school game and on the opening tip Team A player got the ball in Team As backcourt and headed toward Team Bs basket with the obvious attempt to make a layup for the wrong team. Just before the player released the ball, I blew my whistle and gave a ten second backcourt violation and nullified the made basket. Team Bs coach yelled out," That was a very fast 10 seconds wasn't it??!!! I yelled back," It depends on whether you are counting by 1's or 5's" and the whole gym broke up laughing.
  9. PC defense was the difference. Paige Rhodes held Andrews to 6 points and that was the difference maker. Edney is maybe 80%. Assuming no reinjury, I'd guess it will be at least another week before she might be 95%.
  10. Assuming Edney is at least 80%, PC matches up pretty well defensively against C'wood. C'wood doesn't match up as well against PC defensively and this will win it for PC. The winner on the defensive end will prevail. I hope it is a good game and PC does win this one. If it gets ugly with PC winning big, this game will not benefit either team other than a W for PC and a L for C'wood. I'll be there to see the game and I really hope both teams play well.
  11. If I recall correctly, Perry Co beat Moore Co. It was at PC but without Edney. Edney is the big question mark for how far PC will go in the second season. It is always tough to do but if PC can get everyone healthy, I think it could be a D12 sweep at Regionals. I think D11 is a little down overall this year and D12 is clearly up this year. It has already been proven that any of the top 4 teams in D12 can beat the other three on any given night. C'wood beat PC by something like 4 points with Edney not playing. From the scores lately, C'wood is much better now then when they played PC at PC but PC is clearly better with a healthy Edney. The Friday night game at C'wood will be a good indicater of how good the two teams are if Edney is at least 80%. I'm going to the game. Assuming everyone is healthy, I am picking PC and Summertown in the Regional finals and Summertown wining the home court substate game. But it is entirely possible they finish 1st and 3rd in the District tourney and meet in the Regional Semis. It is crazy in D12 this year and I wouldn't be surprized if 2 teams ended up at the State Tournament. I just really can't say which 2.
  12. All the 1A school fans need to petition their school administrators to have a Mercy Rule installed by the TSSAA whenever Jackson County is the opponent. We just can't have this kind of humiliation heaped on our outclassed old 1A teams. Assuming no major health disaster like the flu bug hits JC, if they get to the 'Boro, the State Tournament should just get cancelled and the Gold Ball awarded to JC. There will be a coin flip in the opposite bracket to see who gets the Silver Ball. No one should have to watch something like the kind of travesty that will occur. Oh well, I bet the above won't happen due to apathy or something and we will just have the opponents suit up and play the game anyway. I just hope they don't start posting the score before the game is played. I guess we at Perry County will just have to be content with playing the regular season. We like to have a little fun once in a while.
  13. I am a Perry County fan and supporter. She will almost certainly will go to college, but she might not play basketball. She is a very good student and a very level thinker. Chase Richardson our first team All State Boy two years ago made the decision to end his career in basketball and is now a pre-med student to be a Pediatrician. Krystal is a similiar type person so she may make the similiar decision. As a player, she has a point guard mentality (unselfish-rather make the good pass than to shoot) and has been a tough sell for Coach Lee that she must shoot for us to win. You have to have your best shooter shooting the most shots if you want to out score the other team. She does those things you can't coach on the floor. Recognizes situations and causes turnovers by the other team. She is a 40% 3 point shooter and 80% from the free throw line. It is fun watching her play and she has fun playing. The kind of player that gives you everything in practice and in the game. I am sure there are many deserving players of this award, but Kristal is certainly an appropiate representiative of excellence in both basketball and the classroom.
  14. ptguard 12, you are correct in the magnitude of the loss when Robbins quit. We would be competetive at the State level with her. She was a difference maker player and we are more than 10 points worse off without her on the roster (if she is a committed player). I am glad she quit when she did instead of 2/3 way through the season. I know this is blasphemy and heresy in PC to say there are more important things than basketball. Quitting basketball is not really a life altering event. Everyone does it sooner or later, even the Michael. I just hope we don't lose her to life. My guess is it is no better than 50/50 she gratuates from HS without the disclpline and commitment to basketball in her life. I really hope I miss on this prediction.
  15. As a PC fan and supporter, this has been a fun season even though we came up one win short of making it to substate. We were not as strong this year as last as we won those games like we had vrs Wayne County last year. Leegan, Dabbs and a surgically repaired Qualls have been good replacements for Gladden, Elkins and Robbins but just not quite enough to have an off game and beat a good team like Wayne County. I predicted we would go out at Regional Semis and that turned out to be a good prediction. When Wayne county beat Richland, that meant we had to beat both Moore County and Wayne County on consectutive nights. That is no easy task and we just couldn't get it done. I was really proud of the way PC fought back to get in this game at the end of the 4th Qtr but give WC due credit, they didn't fold when they could have easily done so. We'll be better next year but we have to find 3 or 4 players from the bench and the incoming freshmen if we are to get to state again. Thanks Lady Vikings for the season and I'll be there again next year.
  16. tyfry, I hope you are correct. I am a Perry County resident and supporter. It is just hard for me to believe that at least one 11A team won't win a game. I just don't know who to pick. There isn't much difference from top to bottom in either district so a no 4 seed could very well beat the number 1 seed on the other side. I don't believe Summertown or Richland better be sleep walking or they will end their season. I think Wayne County and Perry County have the toughest match ups and the more likely of the 12A teams to be going home after one game. If they both win, Wayne County has not been an easy team for us to beat before and they won't be if we play them again. Beating a good team four straight times is not easy. I do believe that if there are any blowouts, it is more likely that the winning team will be a 12A team. I don't see enough offensive fire power on the other side for running up a big score on any of the 12A teams. But they don't post the score before they play the game so let everyone support their team and everyone have a little more fun before the season ends. Go Lady Vikings!!!!!!!
  17. tyfry, I hope you are correct. I am a Perry County resident and supporter. It is just hard for me to believe that at least one 11A team won't win a game. I just don't know who to pick. 18. Well, What is everyone's pick for the seeding to go to Regionals?
  19. What can you tell me about the story I heard about one of the players quitting the team?
  20. #21 is Edney and #34 is Weatherly. Edney is the explosive offensive player but Weatherly is the better all around player and probably the MVP of the team. I don't really see either of them as serious candidates for Miss 1A this year. Edney will probably be a finalist this year or the next year as both are Juniors.
  21. Edney scores more points and that is where the coaches tend to vote. Weatherly is the mvp on the team. She scores, rebounds, blocks shots and when the team is geting heavy press presure, she gets the ball into the front court. But my bet would be the coaches vote Edney. Edney and Weatherly could split the coaches vote and Lovett gets the most votes. No matter who gets it, there will be two others that are significant contributers to their team's success.
  22. The most important thing you need to know about Kristal is she is an "A" Honor Roll student with a pleasant but a little shy personality. She is not very comfortable with all this individual publicity. On the court she has a point guard mentality wanting to pass first. Her natural position is at point guard. But for us to win, she is our best shooter and she must shoot or we lose. The game against Clay County stats for her are 26 points on 40% shooting percentage, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 0 turnovers, 1 block and 1 steal. This may not have been her best game but it is up there. She is doing it when we need it the most, at the State Tournament against the best competition. Whether we win the gold ball or not, she will be back 2 more years and we will probably get a few more chances to win it. She isn't the only really good player on the team. One player cannot get you to the final four at the State Championship level.
  23. I am a Pery County fan. We aren't getting much respect out there and that's OK with us. We are young and at the beginning of the year we weren't on anyone's radar screen outside of District 12. Maybe Peabody will end our run. I don't think we saw Peabody's best game in the quarterfinals. But we go at things a little differently than the team they played so maybe we will give them a better challenge. Teams that don't bring their A-game each night sometimes stumble over the underdog. We have been the underdogs a lot. Watch out for us. We just might have another couple of upsets in our season. I am predicting another close game that the Lady Vikings somehow find a way to win. Go Lady Vikings!!!
  24. Wayne Co is playing the best . Mt Pleasant has the most talent. Perry Co plays the hardest. Summerttown is second in all the above. Truth is, they are all even enough that anyone can win on a given night. Don't really know how good District 11 is this year. Comparing common teams played and the head to head games, it would appear that Perry co is the only underdog in the first round. We are so even that we could sweep and have another District 12 playoff. But this is tournament time and upsets are to be expected. I don't really believe this region has a real contender to win at Murphreesboro.
  25. We are going to Mt Pleasnat for the Region 6 tournamant. I understand there is a resturant there with really good food. Can anyone tell me what it's name is and how to get there coming in from Hampshire?
