  1. Clarkrange had a dramatic come from behind win over pickett co. last night. (8-7). Clarkrange has lost to Lenoir City 3 times and Knox Fulton. They are 4-1 against single A teams. Don't count them out. They are young with only 1 senior, but they play hard.
  2. We take so much for granted. This story will make a grown man cry. My prayers are with the family. The Lions will be juiced up even more tonight. They want to have the GOLD BALL with Dylan at his funeral. You talk about motvation..........
  3. I love the wing t offense, but DEFENSE wins championships. Columbia: 27-17. GO LUKE!
  4. Great job Columbia! I am so impressed with the DEFENSE. Great job Coach Howard Stone, You have coached your butt off this year. Your D-Line controls every game. Who is #59? He gets better each week. I think he had the big fumble recovery on the 5 yard line to secure the shutout and the victory. He outquicked big #75 from Catholic and kept him off the linebackers. He is the wedgebuster on the kickoffs. He is the first one down every time. He got my attention a few weeks ago when he waylaid a kid from Spring hill on the opening kickoff. He is around the football on every play. He looks undersized on that big D-line, but is the perfect size for a L.B. in college. #30 is an awesome linebacker. All 4 d-linemen should play in college. I think they are called "THE BRICK SQUAD" After tonight, I would agree. They were close last year, They are going to win it all this year. #8 (QB) and #3 (RB) are just sophomores. Columbia will be good for a long while with the talent they have. To really be great though, it takes more than talent,It takes HEART. That is why I like #59. He plays every play with heart. Watch him next week in Cookeville, You will see why "THE BRICK SQUAD" Will help bring the gold ball back to Columbia. Go LIONS! Go #59! Go SENIORS! Remember the pact you guys made after Beech beat you guys last year. Well, you made it back to Cookeville, This time, WIN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!! Open up a 55 gallon drum of whip butt on them boys from Nashville :!:
  5. Your son seems to have a good leg. You need to send him to every kicking camp you can find. i would build some narrow goalposts at home and have him kicking every day, rain, snine, sleet, snow. A friend of mine (Greg Cater) use to punt for the St. Loius Cardinals. he had a bag of 15 balls. He punted all of them, went and picked them up, and then punted them back the other way. He did this every day. we would be at the lake, drinking beer and chasing girls, and he would be kicking footballs. He was blessed with a great leg, but many boys are. It was his desire, work habits, and unmatched determination that separated him from the others. Good luck to you and your son. He should be kicking it out of the end zone by next year. Kick the sh__ out of it! GO TIGERS. By the way, I watched Columbia lay one on you guys last week. #59 sacked the QB once. I heared the pop from the bathroom. Good luck!!!
  6. Sounds like they need to bring Gene Davis back to Chargerland. You sound like a very unhappy parent. Maybe the coach would let you become the O.C. Sounds like you know how they can move the ball. I'm sure they would welcome a new volunteer coach with your knowledge. good luck Chargers, Don't get Tiger bit this week!
  7. Good luck to Meigs County. The team that is the most physical should win this one. Where did Coach Davis go? Who is on the new staff? Again, good Luck Meigs! A win would heal alot of wounds. Look for the "PIG-PEN SPECIAL" GO MEIGS!!
  8. Sounds like a good idea. How's it going Hump? They need some old school players like yourself if you are who I think you are. We use to kick tail in football and baesball! The fire could be there again!!
  9. Did you play on the 1979 York team? That bunch would knock people's helmets off. I recall the BGA game in Nashville. They were ranked, dressed out 98 players, and had anall state tight end and linebacker. York dresses 18 players that night and wins 40-0. If you were on that team you know what it takes to be a winner! May have been york's best team....ever,
  10. Congratulatons Zach! I know your uncle, your dad. and your mom. They are "good people" Uncle Jackie was a wrecking ball on the field and a great coach at Meigs County for years. Your dad was a great player, and your mom is georgeous, UTC is lucky to get you. Hang in there and work hard! The sky is the limit.
  11. Good job YAI. I saw the game and was very impressed by the dragons. Smith County got taken out to the woodshed. They were outplayed in all phases of the game, The Dragons should have scored two more times. York's QB had an excellent night, He never got hit...... He was the one delivering the blows. I was suprised to see the owls shy away from contact. They looked really "soft". The owls were out coached, outplayed, and outhit. The indoor practice facility could be the problem. The elements are a big part of football. Also, maybe too many coaches. How does Maynard keep up with all of them. They had at least 15 coaches there tonight. York's field was in great shape and the popcorn was great. Can not wait to read the excuses from the smith county fans. Hope they didn't get behind any horse and buggies on their ride home.It had to be a really long ride regardless. Good luck to the Owls and Dragons in the playoffs. Good job 72/52, you are the main reason you guys won 7 games. You held the program together when it could have fallen apart. 5 shutouts, awesome!!!!!!
  12. Danny Williams is a fine football coach. He's old school and a very good defense coach. He coached at Central and at Ooltawah. Never had a lot of talent. He is extremely funny and a darned good guy. Maybe he could get the 1986 Mcminn Central staff back together. They could build a REAL program in Sweetwater. Good luck sweetwater. Danny would be a great hire.
  13. Don't get too down. Coach Eller will turn it around. It will take time. Is Coach Davis staying or leaving? I know he is a good coach. How is Coach Baker doing as principal? Meigs has a proud tradition and tuff kids. They WILL bounce back. In a school that size, the athletic programs should share the athletes. Winning breeds winning. Good luck Tigers.. Do they still have the football choir? The boys who sang in that touched many lives in a positive way.
  14. Coach, time of your spring scrimmage? Where will you guys play? Keep up the good work. Will you be the next head coach or will it be AKERS, BROWN, or WRIGHT?? I think it could be any of those 3 if you are not given the job. I wish you the best, hang in there. Block and tackle , block and tackle, block and tackle, block and tack..............
  15. I heard last night that it was a done deal. the Dicken's family bought a house in the CR area and are moving by the end of the month. It is not coach Roger's fault that girls want to play for a winner. especially one that shows class. I would like to see Clarkrange start a football team. With all the good boys (14 signed up to try and play at York) and a few of the girls, they could be very competitive in class A. I also heard another 1 or 2 of York's players were wanting to leave...........

    7-AA

I heard that Stockton pitched well for York, and that dakota Jones hit the ball extremely well. They had too good of a team to only win 2 games this year. they lose some key seniors. Future looks bleak for the Dragons. They lose stockton, norman, jones, Gibson, slaven, stephens, Vanwormer, and Wilson. that's 3 of the best pitchers, their middle infield, 3b, and their leader Jones-1b-leadoff hitter. good luck to Coach Patton. Going back to Fla. next year???
  17. Coach Hubert Lester will be conducting spring practice the next two weeks. he is passing out equipment this week. He has done a good job holding the program together. Whoever gets the job should be thankful to Lester. He will make someone a great assistant. Maybe Clarkrange should start a football program???
  18. They have good players, the boys work hard, they play all summer long, they raise bunches of money. They are now HOME. What could be the problem?
  19. I heard coach wright was comiming back as the head basketball coach. the football program only has one coach working the boys right, and that is hubert lester. he is a good man and a hard worker. i really don't think coach wright will want to go through the rebiulding process. I've heard the mames winningham , houser, lester, and heady. winningham would be an excellent choice. he has the experience, and discipline needed to build a solid program. the next coach Must surround himself with good assistants, and i don't think the administratration will support that. they have lost 4 coaches over the past 2 years, and a lot of experience. good luck to the new coach. the boys deserve a good one.
  20. Rocking chair. I bet you and one of your coaching buddies could roll into gainesburo and mke them winners in 2 years. Go Devils! Hope you guys get a good man! Any ideas Mr. Rocking Chair? Did you really wear a leather helmet when you played? I heared you could knock the stink off a skunk. I heared you were the best pure hitter to come from this area in years. If you can coach close to as good as you could play, then lookout. Your team will start winning wherever you may go. GO LA, Kick some tail next year! P.S. Tell my old buddy D.C. that he is a sissy!
  21. @ good jobs for a young coach who wants a challenge. The York program has run its cycle. They will be down for a while. The Jackson county program has no where to go but up. Good luck to both these schools in finding a good coach. The kids deserve someone who cares and can teach them how to win. Where is Coach Wright going?? He knows when the talent has run out. York will struggle to win 2 games next year!
  22. I was just wondering what is going on at YAI. They have lost their girl's basketball coach, 2 boy's basketball coaches, 2 baseball coaches, 2 girl's softball coaches, 2 track coaches, the cheerleading coaches, and the head football coach and 2 or 3 of his assisstants are leaving. All this in the past 3 years. Someone please enlighten me on the situation up there. I hear they are fussing about the old building, the block schedule, the teachers, the coaches, anything to cause trouble. The leadership must be very weak right now. I know this was once a proud school, but this is embarrassing. Fat Phil and "please everybody cope" need to get it together! Are you still there, Larry Bruce? Don't let the place fall apart!
  23. I saw one of the brst games I've ever seen in 1995 when Meigs County went to open the season at Bell County KY. It was an exiting double overtime thriller won by Meigs on a 2 pt conversion by Brian Peck. Anyone remember that game?????
  24. I wish Spring Hill the best. Just wondering where Magwan Smith, Ty Embler, and some of the players off that good EA Cox team a few years back. I saw these kids spank Dickson county and marshall County (Hightower) when they were 8th graders. What happened? They had 2 great running backs in Albert and charles Gordon. What happened to Them???
  25. HOG-EYE will be tough. Wait and see!
