I swear... everyone forgets that Brentwood had the first game in hand and then let up in the second half... Brentwood is bigger and more physical on defense, and they forced Franklin to throw it every play... Franklin was 7-of-27 passing in the first game, including the two long touchdowns... take those away, and you're 5-of-25... not a very good percentage... Brentwood gave the first game away, plain and simple... Franklin was able to make some plays at the end, but the Bruins just didn't get it done... I'm glad all these Franklin people are confident that they're going to just take care of Brentwood with ease... because that most certainly won't be the case... I know the SMART fans (that would be you, Rebel27 ) know that this will be the toughest game the Rebels have played all year, Lincoln County included... Brentwood's not going to mess around this time... I'm sure you guys will call me an idiot, which is fine... I may be... but you can BET the two coaches are losing sleep over this game...

It's a good bet The Review Appeal will make a big deal of the game this week... keep in mind it's hard to cover games in Nashville on deadline when there are four other games in town... can't say I'm certain on this, but I have a pretty good idea that was the case last week... the RA has limited resources... besides, Centennial's win over Antioch was a MUCH bigger deal than Franklin having to come back and win a game that should never have been close... and I think they treated it as such... we'll see what they do this week...

BA got lucky against MBA... they won't be so lucky in Memphis next week... the Eagles won't be able to stop Corey Mills just like they couldn't the first time... your final will be CBHS and MBA...

Oh yes they were... they just dug themselves too big of a hole early in the game... they've moved it well against everyone, EVEN Franklin... just not for the entire game... which has been their problem... if they put together four quarters like they have in their five wins (and against Brentwood), then get a solid defensive effort, things will be looking good in Cougar land...

I think we should ban all the Clausens from Tennessee... they've done enough damage to our program...

I'm convinced that if Antioch has just one player to stop, Centennial can do it... if their whole offense runs through Coker, then the Cougars have a pretty good chance... the games they've lost this year have been because two or three people have beaten them... if Antioch is as one-dimensional as I've heard, Centennial could have an easy time here... I think this is the year the Cougars get over another hump and win a playoff game... it's all about baby steps for them...

Some interesting predictions... too bad some of those teams will never make it... 1A-CPA over Boyd 2A-Lipscomb over Carver 3A-Austin-East over Crockett Co. 4A-Maryville over Melrose 5A-Lincoln Co. over Brentwood DII A-Bishop Byrne over SBEC AA-ECS over Knox. Catholic AAA-Christian Bros. over MBA

The key for Centennial is defense... if the Cougars can stop Antioch's athleticism, they can win... they've been able to move the ball against EVERY team they've played... the defense has been suspect at times, though... a solid defensive performance likely means a rematch with Dickson in the second round...

David Pack, hands down... to take a bunch of marginally talented players and make them into state title contenders, throwing in three forfeits? I think that's pretty impressive...

Hunters Lane is very dangerous with a lot of athleticism... in that respect, Franklin matches up well with them... I think the Rebels win here and have that much anticipated rematch with Brentwood in the second round...

How is that breaking the law? Is it a crime to to state the facts?

10 times straight going back to 2000... Franklin lost 1-0 in the regular season...

I'll refrain from making a prediction here... should be an interesting Halloween game... Dickson will be pretty mad after last week...

I have no dog in this hunt, but I do have an opinion... people give sportswriters a hard time because they follow this team or that team and like to brag on how good they are... that is simply because perhaps they are assigned to that team that season and are expected to turn out copy regularly... or maybe they're just enthralled with that particular team... it's no bias against one team or another, sportswriters are just people like you and me... they have opinions and feelings, we just get to see them in print every day... trust me, if your particular team isn't getting coverage or is getting put down because of a lack of success, don't sweat it... I wouldn't put too much stock in what those guys say anyway... I mean, really what do they know? When the time comes and they are deserving, every team always gets theirs...

BA will be without its best running back this week... Theo Townsend broke his thumb against Lone Oak two weeks ago and hasn't been able to play since... not having him in the lineup is huge... not that Tyree Ford isn't a capable backup, but this is MBA we're talking about... not crappy Baylor... MBA rolls here...

I must say... no surprise to me... I knew Brentwood had the best chance to beat Dickson with its big, physical defense... sorry, but I can't say I feel the same way about next week... I think Dickson will be pretty miffed when they come to Franklin... and the Rebels have been pretty suspect against the run the second half of the season... they've given up 100 yards to backs the last two weeks... against Ravenwood and Kenwood... two sub-par teams... they will HAVE to play better defensively if they want to stop the four-back attack of Dickson...

Brooks is not their guy... Quinton Primm is their guy... but then again, they have four different guys who can beat you... Primm is a bruiser... Brooks is a bruiser... Grant Allen is a speedy white kid... and Jordan Tinsley is a middle of the road back who can either hit you in the mouth or run away from you... they're ALL good... Primm could FALL forward for five yards against Centennial last week, that's how strong their line was...

Looks like it could be all Dickson tomorrow night... word is now that probably neither Welch nor McCurdy may play... I'm a bit worried if I'm a Brentwood fan, now... This comes from the HIGHEST authority, if you catch my drift...

Please... for crying out loud... get Travis Sikes' name right... The Tennessean spelled it wrong 14 times when they played Ezell two weeks ago... the kid's gonna develop some kind of complex... Sikes, not Sykes...

Lincoln County is, and will continue to be, the BEST 5A team I've seen this season until someone beats them... they are so well-balanced, it's scary... that Franklin was able to hang in there and have a chance to beat them speaks volumes for the Rebels... but the Falcons have only gotten stronger... I don't see anyone other than Dobyns-Bennett standing in their path to Murfreesboro...

I think you're right on the first one... Welch probably got nicked (which is near-impossible...he must have been hit hard) and they took him out... he's so huge, I can't see how anyone could hurt him bad... they probably just wanted to play some backups... and then McCurdy they probably just wanted to rest for another week... my sources said it may have been a concussion, but I'm not sure...

Is there something we should know about? Is Welch hurt? I know McCurdy was out against Franklin, but he should be back by now... did something happen to Thomas against Kenwood?
