  1. Each school establishes its own admission for regular season games. District Tournament on out is established by the TSSAA.
  2. J.D. I swear on Dave Matthews that I have never even met the guy. I am happy for ya'. Keep it up. Don't get the big head. Come see me on the east side and remember to "clean up clean up."
  3. Basketball-assistant coach at East Literature Magnet School. Softball-Head Coach at Hillwood High School. I teach at Hillwood. I have previously taught at McGavock and Mt. Juliet hence the name crazebear. I guess I should get a new name now.
  4. Salty, you are still my hero.
  5. Actually, the prevailing theory right now involves the menstrual cycle. The ligaments become somewhat relaxed during this time as it is designed to help females with the birthing process. It has been written about in many articles in the last five years. While this is not the only cause, I would venture to say at least 60% happen during this time. Do some research and see what you think.
  6. Hillwood High School is looking for a game on Thursday April 17th. home or away. Any school in the mid-state area that is interested can e-mail me at crazebear@hotmail.com.
  7. Coach Paul Wade never gets the credit he deserves. I guarantee Coach Pack knows how valuable he is to the program. D-coordinator for DCA's dominant state champs in '96 as well. By the way, if Coach Fischer worked on CPA's defense, then perhaps he should have spent more time with his own offense. Yuck.
  8. The TSSAA rule is that the 6th grade can participate on the junior high team as long as they are housed on the same campus with the 7th and 8th grade. However, if Metro wants to restrict that to only 7th and 8th it is their perogative to do so. I have no idea what Metro decided to do. Call Scott Brunette's office at the Board of Education and he can explain it.
  9. Tell the whole story. This is Oak Hill's second team, not their top guys. Don't make it out to be more than it is.
  10. Mr. Johnson allowed someone to convince him to do something he shouldn't have. He has been staffed (kicked out) of Hillwood. I have no idea of his current whereabouts. It would not be fair to talk about the details here. If you make the jamboree tonight at Maplewood, come see me and I could let you know more.
  11. Todd Howard is the running back you refer to.
  12. Stratford will be at least 4th in their district this year behind Maplewood, McGavock, and Antioch and possibly others. Still, considering your player losses, it is a quality win for you. Hillsboro will be strong when football ends. Get them while you can.
  13. Check out TSSAA.org under past champions-history.
  14. You registered a new name just to get a dig in? Coward.
  15. Actually Mr. Taylor, Coach Harris tried this before and stuck to it several years ago and we played without three guys if I remember correctly. Whether he sticks to his guns this time remains to be seen, but it has been done before.
  16. Donelson Civitan in Nashville was my feeder program when I coached at McGavock. They only played slowpitch and would not even consider adding a fast-pitch league at all. While I did have several girls make a decent transition, it usually was their junior year before they could contribute. Several girls who were interested in getting into fast-pitch went and played in the summer at Mt. Juliet. It definitely put my team at a disadvantage with pitching. I was fortunate to have two really solid ones in the seven years I coached there. It is possible to make the transition, but it takes an extraordinary effort to change their mechanics.
  17. I am not running down the facility. There is plenty of good equipment in the FRA room. I particularly like the half-racks along the back wall. I have seen and worked at schools with pitiful weight rooms equipment-wise and also schools with a lot of equipment and a small area. OSHA would have a field-day with some of these places. Each strength coach has to decide what is important to the majority of their athletes and go with that equipment. Also, what Toppers would you be referring to?
  18. Football fan10, the Goodpasture field house was paid for completely by funds raised outside of school tuition. I attended one of the dinners myself. Each year the school identifies needs/wants for the campus and has fund-raisers to meet those desires. Most, if not all of the privates I have had dealings with operate the same way.
  19. Oldschool75, if you are talking about the FRA weight room that is behind the balcony of the junior high gym then yes I have seen it and it is cramped, at least if you plan to do any real lifts from the floor (power cleans, snatches, deadlifts). Are they going to extend the balcony the rest of the way around the gym to make the indoor track?
  20. Goodpasture has a huge room with the full Hammer Strength line as well, including 4 ground base jammers and 4 custom lifting platforms, four squat racks and four benches. There is also a full set of bumpers at each platform. I have seen FRA's as well. Equipment-wise it is good, but it is very cramped. Not much room to move around. I guess with their number of students that is not a problem. McGavock has I'm sure the best weight room of any school in Metro. I have to agree with an earlier post, however. You can have all the bells and whistles you want, but the kids have to get in there and work. Doing bench press and curls and leaving is NOT work.

    job openings

I love you too, JP. It is always nice to be remembered. How is the Thirsty Turtle these days?
  22. Ronnie Sharpe was late 80's or early 90's. Best 5'5" leaper I ever saw.
  23. McClain and Cooper do not belong. McClain could shoot long range occassionally. Cooper made a living off the "Cooper loops" to Ty Baynham, but was never a force on the court. Reggie Glimps could shoot against anyone, from anywhere. Terry Howard was definitely fun to watch. He had a pretty good supporting cast. David Smith was solid at Pearl. John Sneed at Father Ryan and Tommy Stamps at Hendersonville were two really good point guards in '80. Johnny Lynn at Beech in '84. Thomas Earl Mullins was another streaky shooter at Maplewood in '81. I spent a lot of time watching those guys back then.

    job openings

Considering recent history, I would guess that every high school in Wilson County will have a job opening except Watertown since they are the only team to make the playoffs. Wilson Central was 0-10 last year, fire the coach and go 0-10 again. Mount Juliet 1-9 last year, fire the coach and go 1-9 again. Lebanon goes 4-6 with their new coach. Maybe, just MAYBE it is because the talent is down. Naw. It couldn't be. The coaches must stink.
