The player that gets noticed and has people working for them. This question has been batted around hundreds of times and the answer is always the same. Who do you know? What can you do on the court? Seriously though, I think the player that can prove what they have done for their TEAM is a strong candidate. If the team averages 65 points per game, the player averages 25 and the average win margin is 15 points then it is obvious that the team would not be 18-5 without the player. How good have they been in the past? How much have they contributed this season? And how well can you get their name out to the coaches and press? T [Edited by thelma on 2-19-03 3:12P]

Any of you feel like Collinwood is almost a "marked" school because of this whole public/private thing? I can tell that some people on these boards definately have issues with it. Could it be that referees and other "higher-ups" do as well? Just a thought!! T

I'm not trying to sound ugly here either but are you telling me that in the history of the two programs C.A. has NEVER beaten Collinwood? That in itself just sounds strange to hear. Anyway, congratulations C.A. You definately have something to look forward to in girls basketball over the next 3 or 4 years. Hang in there Trojanettes. You are up and coming yourself!! T

I just don't believe that lowering the price would make THAT much of a difference. Sure, it would make it cheaper on the ones that are currently going but I personally feel like a parent that really wants to support their child will find a way to do it. I appreciate your points on the subject but I just don't see lowering admission as an alternative. Talk to your school administrator. I would almost guarantee you that you two could work out a deal on a season pass. Hey, the other parents might appreciate you for it too. T

Admission $12 Concessions $10 Other $7 Knowing that you kid is in a good program, learning teamwork and life lessons and making friends........ PRICELESS Our school actually does offer season passes and does part of the admission money not have to be sent to TSSAA? What about uniforms, basketballs, utilities and clean-up, etc...? I don't believe that the schools are profiting TOO much from the games. T

I have a question. Since most of you hopefully are in a position of influence on younger lives with students, or maybe even children of your own, is a lesson that you really want them to learn, only do what you HAVE to do to get by? If so, I don't want my child playing for you. That is just not what our society has ever been or will ever be based on. Granted, there are ALWAYS going to be situations where someone just screws up the whole thing and puts a bad taste in everyone's mouth but for the most part I think coaches have pure intentions. I have seen coaches that play in VERY weak districts. No team in the district will come within 25 points of them so you just "do what you have to" to win without "offending" anyone and then go to the next level and get your brains beat out because you didn't have enough real game practice time with your top 7. If my school and those kids parents are going to expect me to perform to my best and I don't ask those kids to do it then there is a grave injustice there. Please, if you are coaching my child teach them about life, through the court. Teach them that the strong and persistent survive and that only by hard work and determination do you become strong and persistent. A big problem with our society (and World) today is that people have become soft. They want to "go easy" on the little guy and give him a fighting chance and I personally don't see things that way. Granted, there is a tactful way that these lessons have to be taught but I just feel like some of you are missing the forest for the trees here. I can promise you that the most successful Tennessee coaches I know never cared one bit about the other guys feelings. You don't have to be disrespectful about it but if you focus all of your time on worrying about what the opposing team, coach and fans think then how are you ever going to focus on YOUR team. O.K., I will get off of my box now. I don't know why questions like this are even discussed. Each person has their opinion and nothing that is said here is going to change that and we DEFINATELY aren't going to see legislation from the TSSAA about point margins.
