  1. In a word, I will answer the question posed by the title of the thread. No.
  2. I was just stating that to attempt to right this thread as others have made it point towards the nose dive that this website's forums are becoming legend for.
  3. Well, it appears to me that in Dyer County the decision is there for parents and athletes to chose which school they want to go to. And if they chose Dyer County over Dyersburg even if they do live in Dyersburg, they'd be a Dyer County Choctaw with allegiance to that team in my humble opinion.
  4. I must agree. Buy at your school or one near you, if your school isn't in. The T$$AA is already taking enough money from the schools and attempting to control the lives of the student athletes across this state (example: limiting play in summer leagues).
  5. What went wrong, you ask. Everything. OC graduates a very talented bunch, then Darren Bowling leaves and Logan Parker transfers to Dyersburg. It's back to the drawing board with a new coach and entire new coaching staff. Then Eric Knott leaves and goes to take the Dresden head position (which he can't be blamed for). Tack on a schedule of 10 difficult games and that's what went wrong. Things will have to get better though, they can't get much worse. Now, the waiting game to see if any good from this season carries over to next year.
  6. Unless Chad Jordan handed the ball to Gleason's defense or if Bruceton picked up the defender to allow him to catch the ball and then escort him down the field, I don't think the game was "given" to Gleason. Bruceton took a calculated risk late in the game in an effort to I think surprise Gleason and the Bulldogs were keyed in on the play. How is that "giving" someone the game? That's making a mistake and having an opponent ready to pounce on it. I doubt Gleason will run the score up on SF like McKenzie did to West Carroll last week, but I'd say at least a 30 point margin of victory.
  7. Big clash in the past; not so much this year. Bruceton by at least two TDs.
  8. South Side vs. Obion Central did. Not sure of any others.
  9. Don't forget The Union City Daily Messenger's. I think they have a website where you could email and make a request for it.
  10. Yesterday UC 8, Halls 7 (Loser's bracket finals) Championshp Game 1: SF 1, UC 0, suspended due to darkness (SF doesn't have lights at their field). Will be finished today. If UC wins, SF and UC square off in Game 2. Union City and South Fulton in finals. UC's coach got tossed yesterday. Visit www.ucmessenger.com for updates.
  11. I thought that Obion County was impressive in 2a this year. In 1A, you never know, it may be Greenfield, Union City, or South Fulton on the girl's side. 2A is a toss up. I think that it will be competitive, thats for sure.
  12. What's funny to me as an observer is the OS fans seem to forget Gleason tearing through Forrest and Jackson County. However, when they played Oliver Springs, they changed their strategy, and I think the "stall ball" really caught OS off guard. They obviously couldn't take the ball away from Gleason, so the game could have ended at 12-7 for that matter. The better fundamental team, who passed well, shot free throws, better from the floor, didn't foul. That team won on Saturday night.
  13. Well, except for those who got ahead, held their lead, and brought back the Gold Ball. But that wasn't Oliver Springs was it. I say if they're ahead in the same situation, OS does the same. You win at ever legal cost, lose if you must at the state tournament. End of story. Final score: Gleason 46, Oliver Springs 36. Nuff said. Congrats to Gleason, and Oliver Springs on great seasons. One team wasn't going to win. OS was that team.
  14. I must disagree. There should not be a shot clock in high school basketball. If you are down, and a team is holding the ball, steal it from them, if you can. If you can't, they shouldn't be forced to shoot to give your team a chance to throw the ball up too. Plus, the costs of installing shot clocks and that technology statewide probably would not go over very well with the public schools in this state that cannot afford it, and the TSSAA sure isn't gonna give any money back to the schools.
  15. Ok, so how is it chicken if you have the lead, have controlled the game, and want to keep the lead?? There's no shot clock in Tennessee basketball. If OS wanted the ball so badly, why not steal it from Gleason? Oh yeah, they couldn't. The gold ball came back where it should. Gleason may be accused of being "chickens" by OS fans, but at least they don't lay rotten eggs. Actually, now that I think about it, Gleason is more like a goose. You know, the one that laid the Golden Egg. Not the silver one. At least we know now that OS is almost good enough to beat Lake County or maybe Union City. They'd be probably about fifth in District 14-A where the tops in girls basketball resided this season.
  16. I wonder if we will ever see anyone win the award four times though aloud. That would definately be unprecedented.
  17. If you can't spell girls, they may not win. Very bold statement.
  18. I don't think it will in the end. Roney put up 14 points, and probably would have had a few more, had it not been for foul trouble, and quite honestly, the two weren't exactly going head-to-head guarding each other.
  19. I must agree about freshmen being nominated. I think maybe an AP All-State Freshmen team might be sufficient. Personally, my reasons for not wanting them to be nominated is more for the girls. Let's say, player A gets nominated her freshmen year, and wins. NO matter what she does the remaining three years of her high school career, especially if she declines, she will always be compared to that player of her freshman year, and that's a hard road to tow for a youngster of just 15 years old.
  20. Then afterwards, I'll do the political thing, and say, I'll take Gleason by three points.
  21. From what I've heard at the hospital, it was diagnosed as a contusion.
