  1. Helton is a great athlete, but do you really think that he is the best QB in the state. I don't want to take anything away from him, but is he really a true QB. I have even heard other bobcat faithful mention that Kenny Cruze was a better QB. Again, I don't mean to take anything away from Zach he is a great athlete, and a really gutsy kid!
  2. Looks like a pretty good chance that there will be 3 gold balls coming back to the Knoxville area of East Tennessee. Congratulations to the Tornadoes, Rebels, and Wildcats! Finish the deal and bring them home! Good luck to you all. Bring it home!
  3. I see a pretty good chance of 3 gold balls coming back to the Knoxville area of East Tennessee. Way to go guys! Good luck to you all! Bring them home!

  5. I heard a rumor that Joel Helton of Knox Central is moving to the college coaching ranks as an assistant at Maryville College. Does anyone have any facts to back this up? I know that Zach is graduating, and defensive coordinator Jeff McMillan has been waiting a long time for this opening. Any truth to it actually coming to fruition?
  6. How about Lee Smith from Powell? I know that he has verbally committed to UT, but he is also getting serious looks from Virginia Tech, Miami, and many other SEC schools. That is pretty impressive.
  7. I have to agree with Coach Wood's last quote in the article, "Otherwise we are in trouble." If they can't find a way to capitalize on opportunities they have to score, they will be in trouble. I don't see Maryville missing their opportunities to score. They seem to find a way even when there doesn't seem to be a way. I see Maryville winning this one in a big way. They will make a statement Friday night. Maryville 49 Mo West 28
  8. On the field, these two teams are pretty well matched. But, I have to give the edge to Maryville in this one. They have a definite advantage in the mental category. They have beaten Central consistently since 2000. I don't see the streak breaking with this Maryville team. I pick Maryville to win by 6.
  9. Union Co will be chasing Hornets all night. They have too much speed for the Patriots. Better have some RAID. Carter 42 Union Co 12
  10. I really don't know who to pick in this one. Powell is an unexpected 3-3 but as stated previously those 3 losses come to teams with a combined record of 17-1. Halls has come out of nowhere this year and is having a great year behind new head coach Kevin Julian. Earlier in the year I would have said Powell without a doubt....now I am thinking that momentum and home field advantage will play a bigger role. HHS 24 PHS 21 In overtime
  11. West doesn't stand a chance. Maryville has too much depth and too many weapons. If they sharpen up the O this week, the Knox Rebels better watch out.
  12. Is this English? Central will win this one by as many as they want. S-D's only hope is that they can stop the sophomores and freshmen from running up the score. I would also like to ask this question....Exactly WHO is D1 talent for Central? Granted they are a great high school football team, but I don't recall seeing anyone who I would consider D1 material.
  13. I too am glad to see Carter winning some games. I hope they can pull this one out. Seymour is usually a tough team.
  14. With the exception of last years 56-10 routing, no other Maryville vs. Central game has been decided by more than about 6 points. I really think that tonight's game will be much the same. Central is claiming to have a great team, and so far it seems that they do, and Maryville.... well, they are Maryville. This game will be won by the team with the fewest mistakes as it always it. Usually that goes to the more disciplined team which in this case I would have to give to Maryville. Maryville 27 Central 24
  15. In one word..... No! You have entered the toughest region in the state. You will be hard pressed to find a way to the post season in front of Maryville, Central, Powell, and Halls this year. Better luck next season!
