Not a personal congrats, maybe an apology for deragatory remarks made on this board after the first meeting of the two teams. I've only been a member on CoachT a year, but I can't recall Fairview fans, players, etc. posting negative comments on this board without being attacked first.

El Rey you were doing good with your post until you went off on a tangent AGAIN about the first meeting between Fairview/Sycamore. You did so well breaking down the stats of their first meeting. Just wondering if you could enlighten us with the stats from the second meeting. Hope it was worth your $5. Now, I do agree with you about 10AA, as far as 3 point shooting goes. They can be on fire or just plain ice. The difference is if you play a zone or man against them. How many easy looks at the basket do they get? In the case of Sycamore, they have some height that you would like to take out of the equation so you might play a zone, but their 3pt shooters will then nail you. BUT Sycamore's big man had 28 pts against Fairview's man to man defense. Sycamore's 3pt gunners a nonfactor against the man to man pressure. Result: Sycamore loss. Let me reiterate that I am not bashing Sycamore, they are a good team that had an off shooting night against Fairview, but Fairview's defense did have a part in Sycamore's off shooting night.

I'm an alumnus from the University in Missouri that Coach Shumate was at. Many of his former players post at www.mosports.com on the boys basketball message board (in fact there's a few active threads there now about quotes from him). They have nothing but great things to say about him. And it's SOUTHEAST........ NOT SOUTHWEST......... Missouri State University where he was the coach. I went to his basketball camp when I was in school. Great Coach.

When you tell ballbasher that you own him, I seriously doubt that. You're an NCS fan. You don't own much of anything. How did McEwen have a "moral victory" the first time Fairview and McEwen played? McEwen has a good team. They beat Fairview, Fairview beat them end of story (as you put it the only thing that matters is wins and losses kiddo). Have fun with that multiplier next year.

I'm acquainted with Coach Powers. He coached at Advance high school for a time as well. And I'm well acquainted with Coach Ronnie Cookson. He did win 12 state titles. His older brother (Caroll) was my father's coach at Advance High School where they also won a state championship and finished second another year. The older brother, who coached my father, played with Win Wilfong and Co. at Puxico. Funny you bring up the Cooksons. The coach at my old high school (Bell City) played for Ronnie Cookson in the early and mid 90's. In four years, (and at the tender age of 25) he has brought them a state title and 3 district championships. So Coach Cookson is not only a great coach, but a great teacher of the game. Ronnie Cookson is without a doubt vintage.

MG, Yes, it is spelled Puxico. I'm from a town which is only 25-30 minutes from Puxico in the same county. MG, the name of the book you are referring to is called "My Name is Mr. Ryan" or something to that effect. It's about Win Wilfong and Co. the true inventors of the fast break and uptempo style of play. A similarity to "Hoosiers" as far as small town basketball goes. This team was phenomenal. Who is your friend that coaches in that area?
