  1. Yea because if I was a coach I would admit to dropping a team. Funny how Alcoa, Catholic , and Oak ridge were all looking for teams to schedule and couldn't work it out.
  2. I think Lipscomb has a great team but I don't think they are better than Alcoa, Maple wood or Symrna. But it is just an opinion no nobody knows for sure. As far as Lipscomb being the best coached team in the state I think George Quarles might have something to say about that. DL beat Alcoa 4 years ago with 6 sophomores starting, that same same year Oliver Springs beat them to , So What.
  3. You really think Lipscomb is better that Alcoa and Smyrna, Alcoa blew out the team that gave Lipscomb its only loss. Lipscomb beat a Fulton team that was not nearly as good as they have have been, very young offensive line, even with Fultons mistakes and them being undisciplined at times they still had a chance to win it. Lipscomb at best is the 5th or 6th best team that was down there this weekend.
  4. Alcoa does not have a hard time finding local teams, they dropped Fulton this year, and I know for a fact that Webb wanted to schedule them.
  5. Alcoa wins by 14. Too much team speed for GP.
  6. Because Fulton is the more athletic and talented team, does'nt mean that DL cant win but based on both teams schedule and there performances over the last 4 weeks you gotta give the edge to Fulton, I know Fulton has a lot of team speed; just ask Pearl Cohn. With that being said DL could very well win this game if they can keep Fulton from making the big play such as long pass plays and they have to tackle well, Fulton is a big play team and if you miss a tackle and let them in the open field they will score touchdowns all day. I think this is a close game because DL is due to win one. I mean they have lost two in a row. I still think Fulton wins by 10.
  7. Bryan Allen from Rockwood was selected. This shocks me.
  8. First of all I wasn't comparing NFL teams to High School Teams, If u wanna disagree that's fine but the games I have seen Midway play Stansbury played exceptionally well, I'm not saying Pressley isn't capable just that he is not as explosive and experienced. Furthermore I don't care what level u play on whether it be high school, college, or the NFL when you lose a leader, one of your better athletes, and a starting QB all in one, it hurts your chances.
  9. I didn't say Midway was not explosive, I said not as explosive; make sure you read it right before you quote me. Hampton has a good football team but they are not world beaters, Midway could lose this game by 20 or they could also win by the same amount, being from this area I'm pulling for Midway but just don't know if they can get it done without stansbury.
  10. Midways starting QB is a very good athlete, he and the running back compliment each other because both have very good speed and because of the spread option offense they run, the backup is not nearly as explosive and he is a sophomore , when you lose possibly the best player, the Quarterback, and a senior leader it can make a difference in the outcome of the game. Just for the sake of arguing what would happen if Manning or Brady missed a big game against a quality opponent , Stansbury is to Midway what Peyton Manning is to the Colts. I'm picking Hampton by 10 only because Midway is not as explosive without there quarterback.
  11. Well I don't know about the open zone thing, but I do know that Alcoa has been an established program since the 60's and as far as them signing half a dozen scholarships a year, I think they have had 6 or 7 D-1 players over a span of 3 years. I don't think York will beat DCA but who really knows that's why they play the game.
  12. DCA by 14. York has not played anybody all year as good as DCA. They beat one average team which was Smith County.
  13. Maybe; Maybe not. Hampton has not played anybody with speed at all this year. They have not seen speed like South Pitt has. If both teams take care of business these next 2 weeks then we will see.
  14. Well based on the info on this board that I have read Hampton is mostly a run oriented team just like Midway. Midway can throw the ball to; they have a receiver that is one of the fastest kids in single A. He was clocked 4.5 at a camp at Tennessee this summer. I was just saying that Hampton probably likes to run more than throw, or would rather run than throw just like Midway, u said they were explosive: well so is Midway, this is the fastest team they have ever had. I'm not saying Midway is as good as Hampton just saying they are a lot alike.
  15. I don't think so. None of those four teams can beat South Pitt. Speed Kills and South Pitt has a ton of it.
  16. I have not seen Hampton play but it sounds like they are a lot like Midway, who I have seen play. Midway will power you with there running game and pass when they need to. I think Hampton wins this game by at least a touchdown, and move on to face the winner of Midway and Harriman next week, I know when I make this comment I will ruffle some feathers but I'm gonna say it anyway, it doesn't matter who advances to the fourth round, whether it's Hampton, Oneida, Midway or Harriman that teams season ends there.
  17. Both teams are playing well right now but I'm taking Hampton in a close one Hampton 21 Oneida 17. I think both of these teams will be playing in 2A football the next time they realign. These are two of the bigger 1A schools around.
  18. I recall Alcoa not being to bad in the 80's and early 90's, lost to Brentwood academy in 88 and won it in 89', I know because I played for Kingston and they beat us in the semi-finals.
  19. Well let me know when u wanna take me up on that bet. U need to take a trip down to Tyner and compare there campus and athletic facilities to Lipscomb:THERE IS NO COMPARISON: And as far as Lipscomb not having anybody donate money, gimme a break. You stated Lipscomb having to fund a middle school, freshman, and JV team well welcome to the world of public schools, I was a middle school head coach for 4 years and if it had not been for the local high school giving us equipment and us using their facilites we could not have had a team, the fact is a lot of public schools have JV and freshman teams, a good example is Kingston High School, they have a JV, Freshman, and 74 varsity players. And as far as indoor practice facilities for public schools, well that must be a Nashville thing, because where I'm from that does not happen. U mentioned getting money for a soccer practice field , most public public schools at least east of Nashville have to share one field with the entire school, so as far as that bet goes make it light on yourself.
  20. I don't think public schools have twice the budget as private schools, I have coached at both and the public schools usually do have a bigger gate mainly because of the people in the community all went there, but as far as having more money that is crazy, private schools like Lipscomb have so many private doners and not to mention the money the parents pour into the program, you think Pearl Cohn or Tyner has a bigger budget than Lipscomb, I would take that bet anyday.
  21. DL does have a good football team but they not play in a very tough region, just like the last five years whoever wins region 2-3A will be state champs. Knox Catholic is very big and physical and a receiver that has excellent speed and hands. Knox Catholic is the favorite but you never know out of this region, just look at Livingston Academy 2 years ago.
  22. Well someone from this region has won the state every year with the exception of 1 since 2001. If that is not dominance I don't know what is. These guys beat each other up during the year because there region games are so tough. Im not a betting man but if I was my money would be on someone from 2-3A.
  23. I am very familiar with football outside of Roane County, and as far as region 3-4a being the toughest around , gimme a break, the last 15 years, they are a living off Maryville and there success, with the exception of one year a team from region 2-3A has won the state every year since 2001, I guess you forgot about region 2-5A, I will take this region top to bottom over 3-4A anyday. The top 4 teams from 2-3A or 2-5A will beat your top 4 with the exception of maryville , I mean AC beat Powell like a drum. The last 8 years the second place team in region 2-3A would beat any one of those teams in region 3-4A by 2 touchdowns, well except for Maryville of course. Central, Halls, West, Powell, South Doyle come on now, all these teams would be fighting for fourth right now in region 2-3A. I think Rockwood played Alcoa, Loudon, and CAK all of which are better than Central, Powell, Halls, and West.
