  1. Thanks, Pirate. Good luck to the Bruins.
  2. JCS had a more consistent second half of the season than the first half. They are hitting the ball well right now. They've beaten some good teams and lost to some good teams. They deserve to be there, but will have to play very well to bring it home. The huge intangible is that these kids know how to win. They've shown that they can make the big play in the big game. We'll see if that matters this week.
  3. JCS was ready to play this game. We hit the baseball and took care of business in the field. Wood had a great day on the mound. McKenzie played well. Congrats to the rebel team and fans on a nice season. Eagles, your work is just now starting. Go the the 'Boro and do what we know you can do!
  4. http://jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articl.../702170316/1006 Couple of wild games last night... Congrats to Madison Academic and JCS.
  5. Rest In Peace, Tom. Prayers sent for Marshal, David, and Jacob and their familes. West TN folks, it's time to rally around and support these families. Kids, please be safe.
  6. Josh IS THE MAN on our D line, and will be even better next year. No slight intended by mentioning Seth and Trey.
  7. Easy dude, I wasn't whining. We're proud to have three, and no one ever heard of them either until JCS won a gold ball. Read my post again, I didnt say they were better than anyone on the list. I said they don't take a back seat. The reason I mentioned them at all is that those two are the heart of a team defense that pretty much shut down five very good 1A offenses in the playoffs.
  8. JCS Linebackers Seth Doyle and Trey Mangrum take a back seat to no one on that list. Congrats to Coach Stewart and his entire staff. Edited to add a huge congratulations to every player on the list.
  9. I LOVED the old Scott's Hill gym. It was great.
  10. Some schools have a good team every now and then. You good folks evidently have a good program that produces good teams more often than not. There is a difference...
  11. You need to be careful about questioning the integrity of people you don't know.
  12. It should be noted that it has been primarily the media that's been playing that angle, not so much from the JCS family.
  13. I'm just sitting here reading, and thinking, and grinning from time to time, and the thought struck me... Each and every player for both teams who stepped on that field yesterday looked like they belonged on that field in THE BIG GAME. The coaches obviously had both teams mentally prepared. Nobody quit, nobody choked. To steal a quote from the Lake County game, "Special Players make Special Plays." Both squads had special players that stepped up and picked up their team. It's true, both teams appeared to not have their best offensive games yesterday, but folks, that's what good defenses do to good offenses. FCS disrupted JCS and JCS disrupted FCS. Both offenses found a way to make plays at some point in the second half, and that is a demonstration of courage, heart, and character. What a great experience for these kids, and what a bonus for both schools to be involved in a day like yesterday.
  14. Classy post, possumtowner. We at JCS have a lot of respect for the way your team and the Friendship Christian School family handled themselves last night and in the days leading up to this game. Rub your kids on the head and brag on them for this old man - They have a lot to be proud of, including the game they played last night. And don't discard the "accent" forever. Ah'm kinda partial to it, muhse'f
  15. Good One Thanks for the support, and good luck to your falcons next season.
  16. And how 'bout Tanner Perkins and Clay Fowler both playing through injuries, and making big plays after they are injured. These guys are warriors. Major props to sophomore Will Johnson for opening the game with a couple of big runs and capping it with that stellar touchdown run after the screen pass reception from Hudson. O Line, you've been outsized all year long. You took care of business, protected Clay and Matt, and now you have a gold ball and a big gaudy ring coming your way. Man oh man oh man.... JCS defense, you have ruled the field for the past 10 weeks. You are collectively the toughest and hardest working bunch of undersized CHAMPIONS we've ever seen, and we may never see your like again. Trey Mangrum Rashad Rayner, Greg Wood, your INT's controlled the game. Cliff Wallis and Josh Aldridge being workhorses. all year long and getting in the backfield time after time Seth Doyle, that was your band of Davids who have knocked off a different Goliath for the past 5 weeks. You, my friend make tackles all over the field. What a player! What a leader! What a man! I'm not sure if I'll ever stop grinning. This is special. Thanks, guys.
  17. "Christian" does not mean "perfect." Every kid and every coach makes mistakes. Obviously, Christians all over the world work for perfection by rely on GRACE for the times we mess up. HATS OFF again to both teams for great seasons, and tremendous efforts in Game 15.
  18. The team, for the most part, returned home after the game. Thanks to the Madison County Sheriff's Department for giving us a 3-car police escort out of the city this morning and another escort back into town tonight. Icing on a very good cake...
  19. TCA's gonna be a handful. That program is on the way up. It was good to see the Lions at the JCS/FCS game tonight. Make your plans to be on that field a year from now.
  20. Pujo, thanks for that comment. The student body, including the athletic teams, has made a commitment to honor God in all they do. They talk the talk, they are walking the walk, and we are very proud of our kids.I'm glad it's visible to others. The nice thing is that the student body is actually influencing the faculty, administration, and parent community for good. Something about that is a little backwards, but make no mistake, God is being glorified. BTW, I saw FCS players helping up JCS players all night, and JCS players helping up FCS players. I saw a lot of class from young men who really wanted to win, who played their hearts out and left everything on the field. Guys, thanks for your leadership and your examples. Tennessee saw how people ought to act tonight.
  21. Reckon they'll write that last part on the pretty gold ball? I'll check this evening and let you know....
  22. Yes I did. Awesome. Just Awesome.
