  1. It was really a great game. You couldn't ask for more out of these two teams. There was no quit anywhere. If one team would fire a run, the other team would always answer. It was like that all night. In the end, though, Harriman, got the last shot, and that's what mattered. Hats off to Harriman, you can't say enough about how they never quit. Wartburg should have had that game about 3 different times, but Harriman wouldn't allow it. Good luck to both teams.
  2. I like the sub-title, "a long awaited matchup". Grace has played plenty of the same teams that Wartburg has, but they haven't played each other, until now. I'm looking forward to an exciting game. I hope a lot of fans from both teams are there, and the atmosphere is great. Hopefully this game will live up to expectation.
  3. Well, Rockwood and Wartburg can't both be in the semis.
  4. You obviously have not been to a game at Oliver Springs. It's a shoebox. You have bleachers on everyside of the gym and the floor that barely fits between the bleachers. It's tiny and there's hardly anyroom to get up and roam. If Cosby thinks they've played in a place like this, they've got another thing coming. Just be prepared is all I'm saying. After leaving Oliver Springs this season, I couldn't hear myself talk because it was so loud.
  5. How many seniors did Union City lose from their state championship team from last year?
  6. Oliver Springs is probably the best atmosphere that Cosby will have played in all year. They have a loud, echoey small gym. Also, they have a loud and wild student section. It's going to be a very hostile environment. Good luck to both teams.
  7. What will bracketology consist of when it finally gets here? Is it going to contain predictions or what?
  8. Oliver Springs is only about 15 mins. closer than coming to Wartburg. Oliver Springs is probably the best atmosphere that Cosby will have played in all year. They have a loud, echoey small gym. Also, they have a loud and wild student section. It's going to be a very hostile environment. Good luck to both teams.
  9. Sounds like a good one. Looks like Rockwood will be playing Wartburg in the first round of the region. That will be an interesting game. They split in the regular season.
  10. Does anyone have updates on this game?
  11. 80-41....I definately don't know about Wartburg not being able to handle physical play. Considering the teams they have played this year, and the success they have had.
  12. Wartburg will have more than 60 points. They are averaging 76 ppg.
  13. I've not heard anything about Oneida this year. How are they looking with their new coach?
  14. Number 1 - Oakdale beat Harriman by 12. Number 2 - Wartburg is in district 4..not district 2. Number 3 - Wartburg didn't impress anyone in sub state, because they didn't play well at all. They didn't play the game they were accustomed to. If you wanted to see the real Wartburg team, you have had to have seen them in the regular season. You shouldn't judge how good Wartburg is by one game. Unaka plays Wartburg in the Christmas Classic in Harriman. You can decide how Unaka and Wartburg match up then. Number 4 - Do you think it's possible that Unaka didn't rebound because Cosby boxed out well or something. Do you think maybe Cosby is a better rebounding team. You can't say they didn't play defense or rebound without giving credit to Cosby.
  15. People aren't giving Wartburg much credit. Watch out, that's all I can say.
  16. Everyone thinks that Wartburg is going to struggle this year, but I really don't think so. They have a 6'6 Senior in Tyler Winstead starting down low. Also, they return a 6'5 Senior in DJ Shannon to accompany him. Also for the dogs, you have a powerful player that has no trouble scoring downlow in Anthony Rogers. Of course, Wartburg returns Travis Nelson, who is always a defensive AND offensive threat. Wartburg's main key this year will be their defense. Scoring will never be a problem as long as Joe Layne is running the show at Wartburg. He's always got something offensive to throw at anyone. Wartburg will work with what they have this year and be as competitive if not more competitive than last year, with more height and as much quickness in for the season.
  17. AE was getting beat by about 5 with maybe a minute left and just left. AE's coach called a timeout and didn't have anymore and there was a technical. The coach argued that he did have a time out, and then they left with about a minute left. And as for the football program, it's really really sad. I support all these guys, and they play with some heart, for the most part, but they've been put in a region that's argueably, the toughest in the state.
  18. 25-14 Harriman. Wartburg's defense got wore down. They've worn down in the second half every game this year. I think maybe they should condition some more. In the second half Scottie Phillips was chased all over the backfield. I don't know what happened there. Harriman was in better shape and it showed in the 2nd half. The first half was a good ball game though. It's just too bad that Wartburg can't just play the first half, and then play the second half on Saturday. They'd stand a better chance. Wartburg did make big plays tonight that aren't usually made. They played well, they just ran out of gas in the second half, which is usually the story.
  19. First off, congratulations to Cloudland, goodluck in the Boro. Second, you didn't play the Wartburg team that normally steps onto the floor. Wartburg just doesn't have that many turnovers. It just doesn't happen. And you can credit some of that to defense, but Wartburg has played some pretty good defensive teams such as Pickett Co., Rockwood, Kennesaw Mt., and Cosby, and haven't had that many turnovers. Like someone said earlier, Wartburg had their chances, and they didn't get it done. They missed more free throws than normal, they missed more lay ups than normal, and Cloudland took care of the ball. I hate it for Wartburg. They catch an extremely bad break after going in and getting beat by the number one team in the state by 3, and the only reward for that is having to make a 4 hour bus ride to a gym the size of a classroom here at Wartburg. But, Cloudland came in and got the job done, and we didn't, and their going, and we're not. Enough Said.
  20. I'm not sure what the score was either, but Wartburg came out with an 18 point victory I think.
  21. Excellent game. That's the only way to put it. The crowd made the game intense. Adam Carter played brilliantly, hitting almost every shot he took, although he got into foul trouble. Schultz and Carter fouled out, but so did J. Shannon and Melton. Both teams had to play without their key players. Final Score 95-85, Wartburg.
