  1. Say what you want to say about me or this post, but #25 could have SCORED if he wanted to. He wanted his team to keep possession of the ball. Call it classless, but if he wanted to embarrass the Redskins, I promise he has the ability to do so, especially since he was 1 on 1 with the return man. The players and staff at CAK respect Coach Harig and what it is he has built at Loudon. Just drop this, because being down about watching some of your boys' last game has you hot.
  2. I am very sorry that your team suffered the beating it did, and that your player was thrown around like he was. I think your anger should be directed more at your own program and not me though. Anywhere from having that child in the game, to the offensive linemen not playing with enough pride to make a real attempt to block the best defensive lineman in the region, maybe you should figure out where to redirect your animosity.
  3. Much respect to #57, and the father that has taught him how to play the game. Don't let the one or two that say this is cheap get away from the fact that a great play was made, with or without the flip result of the tackle. Mr. Young, we met at the McDonalds in Hardin Valley and so I know you and your son. Not a dirty kid, I can first hand vouch for that. Good luck to you and the rest of the boys, and I hope you will find your way down to the fence week 10 to say hello before or after the game. p.s. the backside tackle does a horrible job trying to cut #57 after the pulling guard leaves AND i would wager the center didn't help any if at all (only watched backside). #57 made a SMART football play and put his stamp on it. Not dirty.
  4. Agreed Reaction, The top 6 or so players on this CAK team may be the best individual talent they've ever had. Good luck to them. Its going to be a pressure packed season, but I have faith in the senior class and the juniors and underclassmen that will support them. If CAK plays the way they should, a 0 in the loss column at the end of the season would not shock me.
  5. The only "R" word I see there is "relationship". A top notch, D1 private will do things the right way and what will attract the students to the school might be the successful athletic programs or the top notch facilities and what will attract the parents will be the same things as well as the best teachers, smaller teacher-student ratios, and the knowledge that the opportunities for their child at a private school are near limitless. As a student at a private school, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to New York City 3 times, DisneyWorld, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Florida as well as numerous retreats while some of my classmates were even able to travel on trips to Europe. This was all afforded by my single mother who worked 2 jobs to send me there because she wanted me to have the absolute best. Yes, private schools recruit but the school and its opportunities recruits for itself. The best D1 privates don't have to send coaches out or make phone calls to prospective students. The families are making sacrifices to allow their students to attend these schools. Success recruits success.
  6. Agreed High wont... Because he's not 6'5. Chad Voytik, who I think most people would agree was better than Patton as well, didn't respect from a ton of programs because he wasn't your prototypical 6'4 or 6'5 frame. I think the factor that is weighing in the minds of all the non-biased fans here is the state championship game. As a fan of high school football, I did get to watch a few of Maryville's games over the last 2 seasons and at no point said "WOW" about Robinette's throwing ability. His running ability at times did make me say that. Anyone who watched CAK's final game said "WOW" when watching Charlie though. And people that say, "Well if Patton played against the competition that Charlie did, he'd tear them up!" remember that is the same thing as me saying "If Charlie was Patton's height..." we'll never know on either...
  7. If you swapped height and kept everything else the same, Charlie is one of the top 5 QBs in the country in his class and Patton is "focusing on academics" in college. I, for one, was never very impressed with Robinette this season outside of his running ability but I guess thats what happens when you get to watch Charlie High every week...
  8. Living with a former Alcoa player, we have had many debates over which Alcoa team was the best. I have argued in favor of the 2010 team as the best overall TEAM but he argues that the 2006 team that is littered with some of the best skill players (Cobb, Shiverdecker, Lanxter, Sommers, Sykes, Thompson) the area has seen in a long time. For some offseason chatter, I'm curious to what Alcoa supporters, or people that have seen more Alcoa football than I have, think about this topic. Which is the best Alcoa team since John Reid's first championship team in 2004?
  9. I may be a young man, but in my experience as a follower of Christ, there are no coincidences. This team was the most Christ-centered football team I've been around in my time at CAK. Does that mean that that is why they were the first ones to win it all? I'm not sure. Like I said, nothing that happens is a coincidence. God uses everything in our lives to teach us, or someone, something. It may be that this was the most talented team, it may be that Alcoa was just not their usual self, it may be any number of things. What it wasn't, however, was a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason.
  10. I might get a lot of heat for this... but besides his height, I'm not sure that I would take Patton Robinette over High, at all. I think Robinette's athleticism is phenomenal but I would wager putting High in that type of offense would garner the same results whereas I am fairly certain, after having seen Robinette play multiple games this season, that he is nowhere near the passer that High is. Now, obviously, enough D1 schools think differently but if you gave High Robinette's size, I'm not sure he isn't a very highly touted recruit, a la Justin Worley
  11. Pujo, Thank you so much. I remember that night up on the mountain so well and I always thought that was really the beginning of the program that people get to see today. It means a lot that you still are keeping tabs all these years later because everytime I hear news from Roan Mountain, it does send me back. You've always been one of my favorite people to keep up with on CoachT! Maybe one day, we'll get to meet at a football game up at Orr Field or down at Warrior Stadium but either way, thank you for your kind words!
  12. Grace is no joke. The success with which they run the football is not an accident. Their line isn't huge but they are tough kids who seem to enjoy the physicality of the game. Not really something you see from a lot of private schools. With that said, their schedule has been soft as a pillow. The only difficult game they played this year has been CAK and I would be surprised if Grace can play better than they played that night, which I think they'll need to if South Pitt brings it. Be prepared for a hard fought game and please take it to them, Pirates!
  13. I was blessed to have the chance to play semi pro football for a season with both Chris Johnson from Campbell County and Carl Stewart from Maryville and I have to say that they were maybe the two best football players I've ever been around.
  14. My apologies sir, My intentions were never to call you dumb. I have never heard anyone even hint to the argument that you presented and, if you were standing in my shoes and have heard every argument from advantages in zoning to facilities to resources, you would be a little cheesed off by the insinuation that parents are holding their children back in grades to have a competitive advantage in sports. Truth be told, I can think of one instance where a player stayed in high school for five years to be more competitive. It didn't help because he never had the skills to begin with. Yes, do we have players that are older than some of their higher grade teammates? Sure. But what about those kids that we have that are 13 year old freshmen and therefore 17 year old seniors? Not very fair to group a whole group of student athletes by a couple of the peers, who I'm sure if you took the percentage of students at a private school who are older than average and compared that percentage to their public school counterparts, I'm sure you would find it similar. That's just how things go. Again zizoufan, I'm sorry that you felt I was calling you dumb.
  15. Because so many parents know that their kindergartners are going to be stud soccer or football players at the tender age of 4 or 5? Maybe the dumbest argument I've heard. If anything, children are being enrolled in school later because they are not ready to sit in a classroom from 8 AM to 3 PM everyday at 4 years old. This is why many parents opt for a daycare, pre-kindergarten, or a half day kindergarten class. I have no idea how old the freshman from Alcoa is and I could only take an educated guess at how old CAK's freshman is. I know that I am frequently impressed with ours (CAK) and I am impressed that Coach Corley would trust a freshman to shoot 7th in line, which is a compliment to say the least. This is a dumb argument.
  16. My guess... A State Finals matchup between two teams out of Hendersonville, Hardin Valley, and Brentwood that can meet in the finals based on draw. If the draw lands all three of them on the same side at state, then I have no idea who gets through that side of the bracket.
  17. The Warren tree may be empty but if I'm not mistaken, there was a Tyson on the middle school team. Any relation?
  18. Where in Warriors011's post did he say the reason Alcoa beats CAK is because of their out of zone players? He just made a statement like everyone else does on here, except his is actually, and this is obvious because of how defensive you got, based off facts. Take it like a man and enjoy basketball season though? Real good. Gotta always have respect for someone who takes shots at a kid who always makes informative and classy posts...
  19. Who was Polk Co.'s loss to? My mobile device is acting up and I'm having a hard time getting their schedule loaded.
  20. Living with a former Alcoa football player (and 4 time state champ) is a lot of fun. Always friendly banter going but a mutual respect for each other's programs. All y'all take this too seriously. It's just high school football and as far as I know, everytime Alcoa has beaten CAK, the sun has still come up the same the next day just like it is when CAK beats Alcoa in literally every other sport... With that said, I may not talk to my roommate on Thursday unless I ask him how many Alcoa players are actually from Alcoa... Wait, what?
  21. Hey Akula! Why don't you get down to Brazil with me and BIgG and we can practice our cumulative dark arts on unsuspecting futsal players while drinking GUARANA!! And I'm expecting to be next season's special guest trainer... I'll teach your girls a good ole fashion Samoan war dance!!!
  22. Glad this game is being played so close to Halloween... It's gonna be scary ugly!! I'm cheering for Karns but Eskridge is a one man wrecking crew. He's all HV has but he is apparently all they need. HV 21 Karns 7
  23. Lets have a good one Akula! It was confirmed tonight that my grandfather will be coming to watch his first soccer game in 82 years haha! Lets give him a show to remember!
  24. Hey Akula, I'll let you start at forward on sunday AND take any PK opportunities we may have if you wear white tonight!
