  1. I'm sure Farragut just had an off night? No disrespect intended to Hardin Valley but if someone that attended could shed more light on what exactly went on in the game?
  2. Is the Bearden score a JV game or something? I wouldn't think that HV has the talent to match up with Bearden.
  3. Are these two that good? Or did Hardin Valley make them look that good? Did you see anything from HV worth noting?
  4. And I respect that Chauncey. sky's post was one that was made for nothing more than to state how much better than CAK Alcoa is and that very well may be true. I just don't find it necessary. I wouldn't exactly say "venom", but I do find poisonous snakes interesting so I'll take it as a compliment no matter what. Unlike most people on here that are "venom spewers", my venom is directed at an individual and not a team or its players.
  5. BigTuna, It was rough tonight for us. Alcoa was just really tough and there was nothing we could do to stop it. Good to hear from you though. To comment on what I quoted, while Krebs and Clevenger are good athletes, I think the verdict isn't quite in on either yet. I think Clevenger plays out of position at outside linebacker first of all. At 6'3 180? he needs to get a better pair of a hands (see Campbell Co. game) and play full time receiver or gain some weight and move to D-End. Krebs has the brighter future of the two. I don't read too deep into either's tackle numbers because 1)its easy to make a ton of tackles at linebacker when your defensive line isn't, which Hardin Valley has no big men that made plays for them this past year and 2)the offensive unit has you on the field for long periods of time. Like I said before, I love Bishop's game and would have loved to see what he would do on a better team but unless someone steps it up and helps him (and that all starts, again, with the bigs up front), then these results will repeat again next year. I was part of a team that went from 3-7 to the State Semi-Finals in back to back years but all the pieces were already there. If Hardin Valley is going to do better next season, its all going to start in the trenches, where the real game is played. I want to see how the players react to this. The worst thing for any new school is for a losing culture to be started early. Are the Hardin Valley players going to show up to school on monday with a smile on their face like nothing happened? Or are they going to immediately get to work for next season.
  6. I see you joined CoachT in 2007 but only have 13 posts? Which means to me you're just a lurker. Listen up, I understand how easy it must be for you to sit behind your computer and regurgitate stats that have already been stated. You and I both know you didn't contribute to any of those stats, so why don't you stop acting like you did. No one from CAK has shown anything but class to Alcoa. Is Alcoa gonna win state? Yeah probably so, but like I said before, you didn't do anything to help. The Alcoa players are too classy to get on here and talk junk after a hard fought game so that's just going to lead me to believe that you are either a kid who doesn't have the guts to strap it up with the big boys, or an older man trying to relive his glory days. Either way, you lead a sad, sad life.
  7. The only positive for Hardin Valley is Jake Bishop. I hope he can end his season on a positive note. I imagine they'll win a couple more games next season but I'll say Karns 35-7.
  8. Good luck Warriors. Youre gonna have a lot of people that put on the blue and gold before you there on Friday night. Keep playing the way you have been and it'll be another homecoming win for us. You guys are making everyone real proud. And men, please keep continual prayer for #19 as he faces his long road to recovery.
  9. It's always a pleasure to see you on the boards pujo. Good luck to the Warriors. Its been a long time since I strapped on the blue and gold and ran out for that first game of the season but the Warrior Pride that is talked about will always remain. Take care of business boys and enjoy every second of it.
  10. What makes you think that two of the top goal scorers (I know Holt was first and I imagine Stone was top 2, if not first on his own team) on the state finalist teams won't be named All State?
  11. Fair enough, but if there is a better player I would love to see him because that would be one incredible player. Congratulations Mark and good luck on everything you do in the future, on and off the pitch.
  12. Alcoa-2 Catholic-1 Key to this game here gentlemen is resiliency. Lets see who has it.
  13. You have to have your best lineman blocking that outside. Playing center is no doubt very important but since not many teams are playing with nose guards, the center is relegated to snapping and supporting. Fortner doesnt need to be a support man. Put him at tackle and let a smart, steady handed kid play center. Dieter against Robinson from Alcoa wont end up pretty for whoever plays quarterback this season.
  14. I should say that I'm surprised by this, but I'm truly not. CAK has become a place where class and integrity take a back seat to W's and L's. As someone who attended the school and couldnt be any more proud of the man it made me, I am ashamed to say that the school that I hope to one day work for could do this to a man that has put his heart and soul, and lets not forget returned a very short while after having successful cancer surgery, into the basketball program that HE built at CAK. Any success that the CAK basketball team has had, it has been because of Johnny Darden. Coach Darden is a great man who always greets me with a smile and a handshake, asks me how I am doing and always makes it a point to tell me how much he liked having me around. This is not the first time that I can recall a great man of God who just happens to be a great coach as well being ousted because of parental influence and the "powers that be" seeing too much green and I am sad to say that this will probably not be the last.
  15. I understand that but a middle school is a completely different environment than a high school and its not fair to say a kid is from somewhere when it was as a middle school student. My roommate, for example, was an all state receiver for CAK who just happened to attend Webb for 6th grade. I wouldnt say that he is "from Webb", you know what I mean?
  16. Saying that Bennett was "from Webb" is dumb. The kids you are thinking about attended Webb as middle school students. Thats honestly like saying "Arguably your best player was from West Valley...". Sure, CAK may be "more competitive" in DII-A, but what is your idea of "competing for championships in multiple sports"? In the last 5 years, CAK has been to the state tournament in every sport except for baseball and girl's basketball. Last season in football, it was argued that if Alcoa wasnt around (and i understand thats a 900 pound gorilla if), CAK wouldve had a good shot at a state title. That's competitive if you ask me. Just like the Vols are showing us, every team goes through high points and goes through low points. Some of the athletic teams have been going through rough times lately but what teams dont?
  17. Good luck tonight Warriors. You guys have made myself and the rest of the Warrior faithful very proud this season. The turnaround you guys have made has been nothing short of awesome and I credit the hard work that I know you guys put into your football as the top reason. Congrats on where youve gotten and hopefully you'll be able to take it farther. To the Seniors: Guys, I have enjoyed watching you play at CAK. Pretty soon it will all be over but remember that the memories you guys have made on the field, in the locker room and in those halls will be with you for as long as you let them be. I was able to talk to some of you before the season and I told you not to let this time pass you by without truly appreciating the gifts that God has given you. From watching you guys this season, it looks like you are really loving the game of football and that makes me happy as someone who didnt enjoy it as much as he should have. You guys got to watch me play and I want to know that I have loved every minute of watching you play. Some of you I've known since you were in elementary school. So to 1, 5, 7, 9, 10, 14, 24, 29, 54, 55, 56, 61, 81, 88 and 92, thank you guys for helping to take the program that I love to the next level.
  18. you're not ACTUALLY a ref are you? please tell me you're not.
  19. I always enjoy reading your posts Govolsknox, on the topic of 67 I'd like to know your opinion on players going both ways. Obviously when I had the privilege of playing we didnt have as many players as they do now but I always stand by the belief, and it was quite obvious that Gary Rankin and his staff do too, that you need your best players on the field at all times. I would love to see more of 1 on offense 23 on offense as well as maybe seeing 92 on the goal line. 9 on defense would make me a happy man too. I trust Coach Bradley and the staff, but that is my opinion and I would be curious to hear yours.
  20. I thought that Fromke did an excellent job of making the Offensive Line look good last night, much like Harb used to do for his O-Lines. I cant remember being as proud of a Warrior football team in a long time like I was of these guys last night.
  21. Well, not counting the makeshift homecoming game from CAK's first varsity year where we played at Catholic against Oneida, I believe the homecoming record is 5-1 with the loss coming in 2005 against Loudon.
  22. Goodness Pujo, you seem to really be upset about this. I dont ever remember you getting like this when CAK was in 1a. As the Nature Boy Ric Flair would say "Whats causin' all this?"
  23. Cherokee brought the wrong jerseys according to the news.
  24. oldeagle, I realize that you are an expert on the psychology of students that attend private schools and their families but let me remind you of something. Grace, for however good they have gotten at sports in the last couple of years, is still at the bottom of private school athletics in Knoxville. However, Grace Baptist Church, their affiliate, is one of the largest churches in the area membership wise. I would wager that 60% of the kids that go to Grace also go to that church. If I was going to send my kids to a private school for sports, id send them to Webb, Catholic or CAK. If I was going to send my kids to a private school for religious reasons, I may just give a good look at Grace, who is affiliated with a strong church and small ratios for good one on one opportunities with teachers. Using your "50% are scared of public school, 50% play sports" logic, they better be the best at every sport AND have the top academic scores from across the country. You're kidding yourself oldeagle if you honestly believe what you said in the post i am replying to.
  25. The kind of player that Emery is, im sure he doesnt like people getting on here and tooting his horn. Its going to be a team effort on both parts but govolsknox is right. Emery vs Kolinsky is going to be a treat for sure. If memory serves me right, I believe Emery wears 30.
