  1. everyone will say Sycamore had a bad game and Fairview played great. well, Fairview did play well and yeah, Sycamore had a bad game, but it was fairivew's defense and aggressiveness that cause Sycamore to have a bad game. fairiview did lose by 30 earlier, but they weren't playing good a month ago. now they are starting to play better and it showed last night. Fairview did anyhting they wanted to on offense and pierce did have alot of points, but Fairview sut everything else down. the score was closer then the game as Fairview had a ten to twevle point lead all of the second half. a little advice for the boys from Sycamore: if you are down by ten points, what good does it do you to trade baskets from the rest of the game. Fairview loved that they traded basket for basket in the second half as you got no closer by doing this. you should have forced the issue a little, but when you did Fairview easily broke your press, so in a few words, Sycamore just got their rear end kick all over the floor last night.
  2. i agree with bigmoney, the teams voted to have it there with the understanding that Loretto be truthful on their seating capacity. Loretto is lucky if they seat 900 much less seat 1250. i also agree with pageman, it is a little late to be bringing this up with the tourny to start next week. if this was brought up early maybe they move the tournament, but not now. and why is Loretto getting mad that people want to move it, it has no business being played there since neither of their teams have a prayer of winning anything. the girls maybe if everything goes their way(like it seems to when games are played at Loretto), but I doubt it very much.
  3. could you ask her to make sugar cookies, because my game is so sweet. the comments are only made when someone from ncs deserves them, but we can take it down a notch.
  4. and the comments about Fairview being garbage and the post from NCS fans talking down to Fairview are not offensive. if you get offended i have one simple solution for you: don't read the posts. i am entitled to my opinions just like anyone else on here. it goes back to one of my earlier posts, if NCS says or does something it is ok by NCS people, but when the same things happpens or are said to NCS, they get offended or feel like they are getting picked on. now that a parent posted from NCS, we see where the young people of NCS get it from. If I offended you, get over it. Read a magazine if you know how or a newspaperor a book for all I care. I am not going to apologize for speaking my mind, especially if a NCS person is offended.
  5. Lets see how big NCS talks when they have to deal with the multiplier. I am sure they will still talk their trash and it will be full of excuses and complaints about how it is not fair that they have to play the schools the dodge now. As far as little eagle goes, whats make you think you own me? Why would a reject at a reject school who cant make the team, so he has to get on message baords and run his mouth, think he could handle the all powerful basher? Come talk to me when you have four letters in three sports each in high school and play college ball, but that wont happen cause NCS people aren't smart enough to go to college.
  6. that would have been a good post big48, but you need to check you info, Fairview didnt lose to McEwen twice, Fairview won the first time they played, and had the shot to tie the game but it didnt fall. i swear, i have one question for the ncs fans or what ever you call yourself and it is are you trying to be stupid or are you just born that way? if you are jsut bron that way we will excuse the stupidity of your comments.
  7. Semoalum has made several good points in his post. You rock man, I wsih I good be you for a day!!!!
  8. the rules are like this for you questions. No part of the backboard is out of bounds. The supports and/or shot clock in college ball is considered out of bounds. If a ball hits the top of the backboard, it is only ruled out of bounds if it contiues over the top of the backboard. It is not backcourt, once a defensive player knocks the ball out of an offensive players hand, the offensive team must regain possession before a backcourt violation can happen.
  9. i was wondering if the NCS fans were actually watching the game? You say the kid from NCS stole the ball from the kid who was ejected, but it is funny how the tpae of the game shows something different. Frist, the NCS kid had his shot pinned on the backboard, the kid from Fairview grabbed the ball and the NCS player jumped on his shoulder, getting called for a foul which Fairview made two free throws from, and then the Fairview kid reacted in the wrong way. I don't want to get into calling names or calling people out, thats not what this message board is for. the only thing I have a problem with is people who try to post things about a game and dont have the correct information. If your mad and want to vent that one thing, but try to be truthful. I am a fan of lewis county and jeff sprakman, I think the have an excellent team that could go deep into the post season. I like the way NCS plays at times. And to the NCS fans that are making a big deal about beating Fairview, get over it, you were supppose to beat them as you were favored in the game just as Lewis County was favored to beat Fairview. NCs fans, how can you say you are fans if you are worried more about two games last week then what is ahead for your team? The game is over, move on and try not to spend next week bad mouthing teams you played this week.
  10. again, if you watch the game and pay attention, the play when sparkman tried to dunk in question was not a push with two hands in the back. the fariview player did foul him, but slapping at the ball and getting a small piece of the ball, according to the offended player after the game. how can you say that one player has a right to catch a lob pass and not another? if a player is backing up to catch a lob and the other player runs in to dunk the ball, how can that be undercutting? Why would it not be called over the back if the defend has position to catch the pass( which was the case last night on every occassion). The refs, just like the ignorant fan, only sees a chance for a dunk and not the play for what it actually was. Lewis County fans see things in a bias way. What would you be saying if it was sparkman going to defend a pass and Tyler Smith was jumping to dunk? I know what you would say, the refs let tyler get away with everything and never call anything like that, and it would be whining as usual from the so called fans in Lewis County.
  11. the rule book says that a technical foul shot may be attempted by any player of the offended team, including an eligible sub or designated starter. The coach or captain shall designate the free thrower.
  12. first of all, lets get some things straight. We will start with the Fairview-NCS game. No technical was called for the kid bleeding on the court, the ref did not know there was blood and tried to start the game back. If the kid didn't want to get hit he should not have put his nose close enough to get hit, and the player who went down from the elbow actually was kicked in the side of the head by a NCS player while he was on the ground, film doesn't lie, but I will agree that things should not have been thrown on the court. Reading post and watching games this year, I think it is funny that when NCS players do things it is ok, but when it happens to them they cry like the babies they are. At the Lewis-Fairview game, the fan was warned twice to stop and then was escorted out. As for undercutting a player, if you knew anything about basketball you would not say anything about undercutting. More then once Lewis Co tried to throw lob passes to Sparkman, and the Fairview player reacted to the lob like a rebound, blocked Sparkman out and tried to grab the ball. If the refs were any good, they would have called over the back on Sparkman, which is the correct call. Basketball is a game of pride, if a player goes to dunk, he should expect some contact for the other team. This is not the NBA where you are expected to move out of the way and let some one have a free shot to dunk, if I remember right, there is a thing called a charge, which should have been called more last night in the game. So Lewis Co won the game, by 11pts, so they get mad they didnt win by more over the lowly Fairivew team, and Fairview played a physical game so Lewis Co must find something to whine about, again.
  13. This game has huge district bearings. It will go a long way to see who will finish 3-5 place in the district. If Fairview wins, they will have the third seed mostly likely, having to win one of their remaining two games(Giles and Marshall). They would finish 5-5 and have the three. If Lewis wins, then Fairview, Page and Lorretto( if they beat marshall) will all be 4-6 and I assume a coin toss will decide the seeding for the district tournament.
  14. Kori Bledsoe from Fairview High. She has the best all-around game I have seen this year. She handles the rock like no girl i have ever seen, and better then most guys, she can shoot and the girls she plays with have to always be alert as she is a precision passer as well.
  15. as a former player at three levels, i think too much is put into who is starting and who is not. what should matter most to the fans is who is on the floor in the last minute when the game is on the line.
  16. i agree, i would say that 90% of coaching is being prepared for the game and what the other team is doing. of course you cant predict everything a team will do, but know what is run out of sets and when a call is made nothing what they try to do can change a game. i also agree with the talent statment. having the best players does not mean you will win every game. i have seen some of the best talented teams go through the motions and only play when the game is on the line, the so-called "playing down to the competition". good coaches allow this to happen, but great coaches get the maxium effort form their team no matter what.
  17. A kid no body know is Luke Putnam from Fairview. He is the fastest point guard in a district that includes giles, loretto, page and lewis. Giles county guards had hard time keeping up with him when they played. he gets little notice as he plays on a subpar team with little talent. He is averaging 6 assists, 8 points, and 4 boards for a bad team. Look for him to score more next year as well as dish the rock.
  18. I also think the officiating is terrible this year. I am a coach now, but have spent a few years as a ref. My complaint is not that the officials are calling too many fouls or not enough, but the consistency of the calling. In the game I coached last night, the refs were calling a good game until three minutes left in the game and then all of a suddent decided not to call anything. I am a firm believer that a ref should never take the game out of the players hands especially late in a game. But I do believe if you have been calling hand checking and reaching for three and a half quarters and as a coach I instruct my players to attack because the refs are calling it tight, and then you stop, it puts my players in a bad situation. As a coach you are always making adjustments, and you have to take into consideration how tight a game is being called. If they are letting the kids player, you tell you team to be more aggressive on d, if is is a tightly called game, you tell them to be aggressive and maybe dont call as many traps or presses. When you have a team like the one I coach that is not fast, has no size, and has average players, we have to coach this way to give the kids the best chance to win. Although this may not affect teams like Shlebyville(girls) or a team like Giles County who can win no matter what, the rest of us have to pay attention to the calling. No matter how you look at it, refs do affect the game whether we like it or not. As a coach all we can ask for is consistency through the game.
  19. In 8AAA, Coffee County is in the region by winnning regualr season, but its first two in the tourny, so they will play the winner of 7AAA. In the tourny, Lincoln Co vs columbia in winners bracket final, Tullahoma vs Lawrence Co in loser bracket, the winner of the tourny advances to region play with Coffee County
  20. coach jone sof coffee county was coach of the year
  21. why are you so quick to assume columbia or tullahoma will win, my pick is coffee county, you know they did win the regular season, they did swept tullahoma, shelbyville, lawrence, and lincoln co.
  22. is this the head coaching position you are talking about or an assistant spot?
  23. This game could help tullahoma finish in the second spot if they can get some help from cloumbia next week, and franklin co is extremely overrated this year, they have a good record, but have not been good in the district, they will probably finish in the sixth spot after tullahoma sweeps them.
  24. Having seen every team in 8AAA play, I would say Justin McNeese at Coffee County is the best, his only competiton is from his teammate Adam Clark or Bratton of Columbia, but in the field I give the edge to McNeese.
