Actually Ronnie Carter, not a commitee, made up the districts for everyone in the state. He is not from Gleason or Dresden. it is based on geographics. It was this way about 10 years ago was always this way until then. Dresden and Gleason in the Carroll County district, Greenfield in the district with South fulton, Bradford, Halls, Trenton, and Lake Co. The difference is that Humboldt and Union City are now single A. It wasn't a problem before and no one complained then.

I'm pretty sure talent has nothing to do with the districts being made out. It is about geographics. With the way the economy is travel to and from games is huge concern with the expenses. They were not going to have a 10 teams district in 14a again, so if Dresden and Gleason stayed Humboldt and Trenton were headed south with Scotts Hill and Riverside coming north to Carroll County. Much more travel. Gleason makes obvious sense to more and if Greenfield had moved and dresden stayed, Dresden would have driven trough Greenfield to to get to 3 or 4 district games. Which doesn't make sense bsed on what the TSSAA was looking at. So Dresden moved as well.

I don't think that beating McKenzie and TCA by that much means much in this district. Those 2 teams would be at the very bottom at 9 or 10 in the district. Madison has a good team but without Faulkner they aren't the same. Wasn't the TCA game a 1 point game at the half? I thought I saw that.

Agree about Coach Frazier and Gleason should be right at the top with a relatively young team.

Not much respect for 2 of the top teams in the district in trenton and dresden picking them 8 and 9. did they lose everything last year? I thought trenton only lost perry and dresden riggs and kelley. did they lose more than that?

UC may be great but this summer they lost to Greenfield whose coach had been with them less than a week. I know it was summer but Greenfield hadn't even practiced enough to amount to anything with their new coach and still beat them. I think a lot of the predictions are just guesses. You can put most of the teams in a hat a draw them out because almost every team can lose to or beat any other team in the district.

you guys obviously haven't seen dresden enough to why they aren't trying to pass the ball, they can't. most of the time it is intercepted so you are better off trying to run and not turn the ball over. i don't think it had anything to do with what uc does well or doesn't.

Greenfield has some good players but no D1 players. UTM and Murray St. is not D1, technically yes but in everyone's eyes they are not D1. No A or AA team in the state has more than 2 D1 players on it except Alcoa. Greenfield is having a good year but put things in perspective. Speed is what matters at the skill position and no one has shown the speed needed for D1 in the 2 games I've seen of Greenfield this year. Remember Markee Guy is at UTM and no one on that team is anywhere close to him.

If anyone is going to outscore someone in this game it is Gleason. Greenfield will have to win a low scoring game. They have score what 25 points in 2 games, and at least one of them was a defensive gift where the Dresden qb threw it right to the GF defender. Gleason has score something like 80 points in 2 games. If it is low scoring I say Greenfield shootout-Gleason Should be a good one.

$25,000 a year with no up keep. It will take over 40 years to equal the cost to build Westview their own field and then you have to deal with the up keep each year. I think the bottom line is that it is going to cost anywhere from 1-2 million to build a stadium and field and with the economy the way it is the people in the county don't want to spend that.

No school in Weakley County has anymore than Westview. They actually all have less when it comes to facilities. Everything that Westview gets is from the county is the best and everyone else's plans get cut some in the budget. No school has their own baseball field, soccer field, ect. All the schools in the county except Westview share their football field with the middle schools. Martin Middle has its own field, but Westview doesn't want to share it with them. I know it would need to be upgraded some but if that is what Westview wanted to do I'm sure it would get done. I'm pretty sure that is not the case and Westview wants their own field and other people in the county don't want to spend the money for it.

tnborn I'm assuming you are from Jackson Co. from your last post. Gleason didn't have to hold the ball on Jackson Co. They were up like 19-4 to start the game. It was over in the first qtr. I saw Gleason play several times and Jackson Co. once but from what I saw it wasn't even close as to who was the better team and there were several teams in 14a that were better than Jackson Co. last year.

The game was actually closer than 11, that was the biggest margin of the night. It was a 5 or 6 point game with about 2 minutes left and Dresden started fouling to stop the clock. The lead was extended at that time. Jennings did play she just was in foul trouble.

Clarksburg won A GAME in the regional tournament not THE TOURNAMENT. I also think it was the 1st game that district 13a had won in the regional tournament in 2 years, boys or girls.

Not going to disagree about the football program in general but have to about the entire sports program not being good. The have been several teams that have gone to state, sub-state in different sports. Girls/Boys basketball, baseball mainly. Not every year but several times besides the 87 baseball team.

How did the scrimmage go? Did Trenton look as good as expected? How did Greenfield look under the direction of a new coach? Offense? Defense?

What does your school require for summer workouts? Are the players allowed to miss for vacation? How often are they required to be at workouts?

Has Oneida had spring practice yet? How did they look? What about the coaching staff? I know Coach Lambert is the head coach, but did the assistants change or anyone new coming in?

You're exactly right about Kayla not being a better athlete, but Kayla is a much better basketball player. Nothing against Robinson, Kayla is just that good, she controls the entire game and it really doesn't matter what you throw at her.

Hopefully he does well. I would like for all kids to succeed. I saw one game this past year and it was against Westview, Dresden had a chance to win that game inspite of his play. I believe he had something like 7 or 8 turnovers, 5 ints. and a few fumbled snaps. But the thing that got me the most was when it was a fourth down late in the game, there was a busted play and instead of a 6'3" 200lb. player turning up field for 2 yards to get a first down, he ran out of bounds to avoid the contact. I believe at the time the score was 7-0. That was all I needed to see. That shows one of a few things that coaching can't change, lack of heart/Toughness, not a competitor or just doesn't care. Someone could be coached by Bill Parcells or whoever and if they don't have those attributes they will never be very good. I hope this kids goes where he will be happy and hopefully he will do the things that will make him the type of player that you say he can be.
