Most likely scenario for 7-A: 1. USJ 2. Fayette Academy 3. JCS 4. Perry County

In region 6-2A, the championship will most likely be decided in week 8 when Riverside and Huntingdon meet. If McKenzie beats Chester County, they'll be a lock for 3rd at the worst. If CCHS beats Camden in week 10, they'll get the 4th spot. That's the most probable scenario - Huntingdon, Riverside, McKenzie, Chester County. Whoo! My 200th post! 3. OK... imaviking... here's what you need to do. Go over to that window by your computer. Open it. Then, take that pipe you obviously smoked before making your prediction, and throw it as far as you can.
  4. Excuse me... is anyone actually asking us to put USJ in the same class as the Huntingdons, the Milans, and the Westviews? Because if someone is, I haven't seen it. Last time I checked, USJ is still in 1A. Why should they have to "prove" themselves by scheduling teams like JCM, Milan, etc.? They've proven themselves in their own classification, and that's all they're required to do.
  5. Jeff is taking this program in the right direction. I really think that he's going to be a huge asset to a program that has been historically weak for many years.
  6. Congratulations to Coach Jeff Cupples for getting his first regional win in his coaching career. And what a ballgame it was. Adamsville dominated the 1st half, taking an 18-7 lead at the break and scoring on their first three possessions. They made it 24-7 in the 3rd and seemed to have the game well in hand. But CCHS pulled it together, rattling off 20 unanswered points and getting 2 key stops on 4th down inside their own 25. Todd Hockaday was held to (unofficially) 53 yards on 16 carries for A'ville, but Jake Gilchrist picked up his slack, passing and rushing for at least 200 yards. Chester County's Myron Fulton had 12 carries for 125 yards (including a 49 yard run that put the Eagles up for good) and 4 catches for 150 yards. Myron scored 3 of CCHS's 4 touchdowns. Adamsville had a chance late, with about 2:30 to go and starting on their own 21, but their drive stopped when freshman Bijon Jones intercepted a Gilchrist pass on the Eagle 15. Huge win for the Eagles, as many people had written them off in this game and for the rest of the year. Pretty much everyone in west TN picked Adamsville to win this game tonight. So hats off to Coach Cupples for a good game plan, and to the Eagle players for not giving up.
  7. I think it would be quite impressive for Trenton to play two games at once Milan 35 - Trenton 13 Union City 34 - Humboldt 7 Westview 31 - Dresden 14
  8. I assume you're talking about the PA announcer? That's pretty bad. Must be something that happens to JCS when they go to Weakley County, though... my junior year (not playing, thank goodness), we were playing at Sharon when they were still around, and the PA announcer kept doing it.
  9. It certainly mattered in '98 and '99, when Milan won consecutive titles. I suppose, though, that whoever comes out of the west should just go ahead and forfeit the BCBS Bowl Game, seeing as how it's nothing more than an exercise in futility.
  10. Perry County wins handily, but if Ryan Hickman is 3rd in the state in rushing, then I'm Emmitt Smith. Hickman's not even top 10 in west TN if we're talking all classifications.
  11. Huntingdon and Milan have shown themselves to be the class of 2A in west TN. That said, there are still plenty of other good teams, and neither Huntingdon nor Milan will have an easy path to the semi-finals once playoffs start.
  12. South Fulton's schedule is actually fairly hard to assess unless you live up there, because they've played two teams from KY. As far as TN goes, they've played Bruceton, Dresden, and Gleason so far. I think this one is going to be very evenly-matched. Whoever wins, I don't think it'll be by more than a touchdown.
  13. Why should USJ go from 1A to 2A? Their enrollment is around 35 short of 2A classification. There's really no sense in their changing classifications if their enrollment doesn't require it, is there?
  14. Was it the Todd Hockaday show for Adamsville?
  15. It was before 1993, at least accroding to the team history at prepratings.com. Westview and Union City both lost in week 9 in 1994.
  16. So what was the final and the story on that game? 96.5 also reported that Greenfield had won, 34-21.
  17. Tough game to call. Fayette should be a little better prepared for the game because they've played much tougher competition than JCS has this season. With the game being at FA, I'll be taking them to win... let's say 28-22.
  18. There are a lot of outstanding coaches in west TN. P.A. Pratt of Crockett County always comes to mind when this topic comes up. It wasn't too long ago that Crockett endured a 24-game losing streak. Now, they're perennial top 5 material in the state in 3A. There's plenty of others - Sturdivant, Mickey Marley, Jeff Morris, Mike Mansfield, etc.
  19. Thanks for the response and the agreement, ELA Here's a case-in-point of a program trying to do just that, in fact. As most west TN'eans know, Chester County's football program has struggled over the years. First-year head coach Jeff Cupples had a quote in the paper today that said this (and he is, IMO, dead on): "Huntingdon (who beat CCHS 39-6 on Friday) has talent to work with. We have talent, too, but we must develop that talent and get it on the field. There's nothing about Huntingdon that God has ordained them to be a great football town, and Henderson not. What we have to do is get that talent on the field, and that is through recruiting. Also, the community as a whole has to decide it wants to be a football town. We will get there sooner or later." Although Jeff didn't say it verbatim, I think he echoes those same thoughts - CCHS has to begin to think and act like a top-notch football program before becoming one.
  20. I'll tell you what I think is the first step in taking a weak program and turning it around. Acting like a winning program. You don't become a winner, then act like one; you act and think like one first, then you become one.
  21. If this is true... wow. I can't believe anyone would stoop to a level like that.
  22. By "forced", I mean that the other team doesn't want to reschedule them. So, when I said that, what I meant was they're being forced by the circumstances and not by any one in particular. For an example of what I mean, check this thread: http://www.coacht.com/boards/thread.cfm?TID=20372 [Edited by TheBoredGuy on 9-24-02 2:50P]
  23. What changes has your school made (or been forced to make) to their 2003-04 schedules? I can't wait until they're officially released. It will be interesting to see which schools (such as Greenfield or TCA) will be forced into tougher schedules based on recent successes.
  24. This is pure speculation, since I know no one from either program... but it's possible that Lake County was the one who did the dropping, and Obion couldn't find another opponent. I can tell you that's what has happened with Chester County, as they ended up picking up Fayette Academy and either JCS or Bruceton last I heard. My guess would be that Lake County dropped them, and Obion had very few options.
