  1. Sounds like last year for the Lady Owls, Ooltewah couldn't throw it in the water if falling out of a boat. Was a scrappy defensive bunch last year and played hard all season for a new coach, but camps are a new experience for them. How did they look in the games you saw, Indian?
  2. Ooltewah played Ringgold in 7v.7 tonight and looked decent. Still looking for a couple of more coaches to round out the staff, but the Owls will be fine. Bring on the Puds.
  3. FBCoach, #1 has been a rule in Hamilton County for years. The superentendant and school board had to sign off on the current principal taking over at a 3A/6A school because his wife worked there and had been there for over 20 years, he would be her direct supervisor.
  4. tpoole, Scott Meadows is just above, meaning I can tolerate him just a little bit more than, Bill Price in my book. That was a good April Fools' Day joke.
  5. Shannon Williams is his name. Ooltewah will get a good coach, but there is one person that, if he is hired, I would leave Ooltewah for. Those who know me, know exactly who that is. (his initials are BP)
  6. Now. Laura Wood is not the girls/ coach at Hixson. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_169819.asp
  7. what position does this kid play, and how big is he? I would like to know too, since he didn't dress for either game against Ooltewah?
  8. Ooltewah is 16-6 and has swept Walker Valley who is listed in the HM category.
  9. denlron and Indian, I understand what you are saying. The GPS situation is helped by the fact that coach Crownover is both the basketball and softball coach, and Chattanooga area has put a number of softball players in good D1 programs, but when was the last time a volleyball player has signed a D1 scholly (in this case, UTC doesn't count)? I know that at Ooltewah the volleyball coach and previous basketball coaches haven't got along, (the current one gets along with her though and that may help future fortunes) and that does have an effect with the better volleyball players not playing hoops there. As I said, I wasn't trying to be a smart alleck when I asked that question.
  10. District 6-AAA and Region 3-AAA is at Warren County District 5-AAA is at McMinn County
  11. Actually, IMO, it's an indictment on the state of girls basketball in Hamilton County. I know coach Wood and she will have the Lady Cats playing hard, no doubt. BTW, who and when was the last Hamilton County D1 school to make the state tournament in any class? (not trying to be smart, but really wanting to know)
  12. The Cleveland coach (E.K. Slaughter) was the head coach at Soddy-Daisy the previous season, so he knew Scott Parrott VERY well. It was a case of familiarity and knowledge of Slaughter's system more than anything else.
  13. Danny Gilbert is an assistant principal at Soddy-Daisy at present. Don't know if administrators are allowed to officiate any sports now?
  14. MineThatBird, no problems. You backed up what you disagreed with me on with facts, not insults. I can live with that. I forgot all about Joe Williams, that was in the days that I didn't have any family associated with OHS. You might remember my sister, Marlette, she graduated in '77.
  15. I'll argue this one with you, Phishy. Don't forget that Ooltewah football began before 2000. Best 5 players ever at Ooltewah that I have seen: Anderson Sanders - Joe Namath All-American in1977 (think a 6-4, 260 Jacquez and you get Anderson, don't take my opinion on this one, that's Coach Davis's opinion, he saw both of them), Jacquez Smith, Patrick Flannigan, Sanford Ballew (best running back I EVER saw, better than Eric Westmoreland, Eddie Moore, and Gerald Riggs, think of how good he could have been, but drugs killed him) , and Phil Rogers (Scrappy Moore Athlete of the year in 1986, one of the best all-around athletes to grace the halls at OHS).
  16. I was talking to an assistant for Warren Co.'s girls last week and one of the problems that he has seen on the girls' side is the lack of fundamentals of the girls coming from the 6 feeder schools in the county. They are starting from scratch when the coaches get them, from moves to plays to just basic basketball skills. They do have 4 teams so that are getting instruction at the high school level, but a lot of that should have been started at the middle school level. As long as that keeps happening, the level of play of Warren Co. will not reach its' potential.
  17. That comment about Hamilton County schools is pretty close to being right on the money. More about the school system and it's feeder programs, than the athletes itself though. Middle school season is almost over already in Hamilton County, 18 games in a 2 month period is it and that includes preseason practice.
  18. 5AAA is a very top heavy district. Cleveland, Walker Valley, and Bradley Central are head and shoulders above the rest of the district. The other 4 teams are going to fight it out for the 4th spot, but all 4 are very weak compared to the top 3. Walker Valley has already beat Bradley by 40 so there is a drop off from even 2 to 3.
  19. Another one the previous staff at UTC let get away without trying.... Thank goodness that won't happen anymore.
  20. Indian, Signal Mtn. is probably playing Ringgold Heritage and not Maryville Heritage, especially since it's a school night.
  21. I was told that AE was the usual contract during the preseason and not like Whites Creek where it was both games at Ooltewah. I'll try to find out for certain.
  22. Ooltewah's schedule will be reversed from this year's, so 2 trips to Nashville area and 1 to East Knoxville. Get your travelling shoes on folks.....
  23. And the ones doing the running were T.J. and Roberto, also add the other QB (Andrew Ware) to the running. Agree with the assessment of MTB with the other freshman QB needing seasoning, good arm and decent football IQ though. They used a 2 QB platoon this year.
  24. through my man.....give us stats. Leave the player personal to the coaching staff, because you are alittle off.Don't get offended, because,I'm not slamming you,but changes are coming and Goose at tailback isn't one.(I might be wrong,but......),you are probably right about most of the other stuff, though. BBZ, as I said, in my opinion and everyone knows what is said about them. No offense taken... In regards to Phishy, I don't drink PBR, tastes like crap. I'm just going by what I seen and what was told to me by some people whose opinion of such matters mean more to me than yours. I didn't say that they were the ONLY 2 with speed, but the team as a whole was not as fast as any freshman squad in the past 8 years. Next year's freshman team should be a good one to find line depth, but won't be a fast team either. 2seam, I'm not going to dignify you with any more of a response other than this.
