  1. wow, haven't visited these forums in almost two years and first post i see is about Lexington. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> glad to see they are still getting attention. how does everyone feel this teams compares to the team from two years ago? that team was stacked, it's a shame they fell apart at state. for those who can't remember here was the lineup: Pitchers - Jonathon Keck(Bethel), Jon Patterson(Bethel), Kyle Balhagen(Lambuth), and Billy Keck closing Catch - Mathew Bird(Lambuth) 1st - Jonathon Keck / Jon Patterson / Billy Keck 2nd - Kyle Balhagen SS - Seth Parrish(offered full ride to Bethel, declined to go to Vandy) 3rd - Cori Williams LF - Casey Sanders CF - Jonathon Deberry(Bethel) RF - Billy Keck Also, what is this year's starting line-up. I remember last year, many expected Lexington to have a down year, boy were they wrong. I saw them play a few times last year and they just looked like a scrappy team that just meshed perfectly together.
  2. all i can say is Patterson and Keck are both 10-0. Also, Lexington has Kyle Ballhagen who has a nasty curve-ball. Patterson is an extremely crafty pitcher which makes up for his lack of speed. I'm sorry you didn't get to see Patterson at his best when he actually hits the majority of his spots...If you are telling me that Harpeth has more pitching depth than Lexington you don't know what you are talking about. Lexington has pitchers that don't even get to pitch because they have so many. Here's a list: Jonathon Keck, Jon Patterson, Kyle Ballhagen, Seth Parrish, Billy Keck, Roy Alsup, Roy Beecham, Caleb Robertson, and Cori Williams just to name a few. And also, Billy Keck hits around 90 on his good days and clearly out throws Alsup.
  3. will be interesting........why do you predict that? any reason?
  4. Final Score: Lexington wins 11-2!!! The Tigers were hammering the ball all over the ball park and up and down the line-up today! They were pulling the ball down the lines and hitting the right-center gaps all day! Big Keck hit one mid way up the trees! Great game Tigers and good luck in State!!! They took out the lefty in the 6th inning after giving up the 11th run... As a note, Ezell has a great team and very nice players! Congratulations on your great season!
  5. i would have to say Lexington has one of the deepest pitching rotations I have ever seen. they have great pitchers that do not even get to pitch because they have so many. but you never know, anyone can have an off-night.
  6. That was the most exciting game I have ever been apart of! Good luck to Harpeth, you all have a nice ball club!
  7. anyone have an update on the final yet? post when u know
  8. Jonathon Keck of Lexington now has 15 with a tenth inning go-ahead blast against Hardin County Monday.
  9. yes, it is double elimination after the #6 and #7 elimination game. it wouldn't be considered an elimination game if it was single elimination.....they would all be elimination games...
  10. #1 and #2 seeds get byes. #6 and #7 play an elimination game. double elimination from there. the tournament is in BOLIVAR...
  11. check the jackson sun today.......a very good article about lexington's Keck brothers.
  12. In some instances I understand exactly where they are coming from. For instance, there are several teams that have their graduation night planned for the date of May 19. The same date that they will be playing sub-state games to decide who goes to state. You mean to tell me that kids will work for 12 years on graduating and not even get to walk down the aisle because of a baseball game? A few more of these teams have games scheduled on the exact same night as their prom. What is this teaching kids today? That a game is more important than graduation? I understand what it is saying in the sense that sometimes coaches make it mandatory for players to play on their summer travel ball team where they practice all week and play every weekend. So, not only does it take away their spring, it takes away their summer. Then coaches start open facilities during september and have those 5 afternoons a week all the way up to the first day of practice in february. So this turns into an all year sport......... I do understand where they are coming from, but I do believe it is a little too much. Just cut back on open facilities a little, and cut back on summer programs......
  13. yes, i agree oakland is one of the better baseball fields i have played on. they have really good music and a lot of variety in it too (jonny cash to the latest rap). to go along with the music they have a really nice sound system and a first class scoreboard with lots of animations and effects coming up on it. the field is also in great shape to go along with it. another great field would have to be farragut with great seats along with room for people to lounge out on a hill and watch. not to mention the beautiful field!
  14. the Lexington McKenzie game was one of the best games I have seen in a long time! Congrats to both sides on superb pitching performances and really staying in the game. By the looks on the players faces and the way they carried themselves you couldn't tell it was the 12 inning, it seemed like they were still playing the first. great job on staying in the game and playing your hearts out.
  15. should be a very interesting district. lots of toss ups for the champ. we will find out a lot monday and tuesday as lexington and bolivar play each other both nights. will be a game worth watching.
  16. Lexington beat Ravenwood 11-7 with homers from Billy Keck and Dale Kizer. Jonathon Deberry went 3-3. Was a great game. Looks like Lexington proved that they are a contendor this year.
  17. just so you know, there has been a freshman coach in the past. there is no freshman coach this year, but you know what? there is a JV team! i guess your kid isn't getting to play on that team either is he? and another thing, the large senior bunch that is playing now didn't get much practice time when they were freshmen either. they practiced on their own. the main focus is the team getting prepared to win. and these seniors, as freshmen, knew that. they would stay after and work on their own. if someone really wants it, they can get it. and in no way has a name influenced this years line-up. i firmly believe the coaching staff has put what they believe to be the best line-up out there every game. if your child isn't out there, maybe he shouldn't be. it's pretty low to get on here and talk about your home town team so that the entire state can read it, and not even post your name. it sounds to me like you are still caught up in the "little league" parenting attitude, this is high school now. grow up.......
  18. please don't post bragging about an undefeated season during the first week of the season, especially when you are playing teams you are expected to beat. if you really want to impress, try playing some high ranked AAA teams from east TN. if i am right, a good lexington team went to east TN and played some very tough competition and hung in there, and even defeated ravenwood and lavergne. but i have yet to find a post on here of them bragging about what they did. just do your talking on the field, not the message boards...
  19. Who do you think will win this one? Lexington @ Southside Monday, 5:00
  20. Congratulations to the Milan Bulldogs on the District Championship, from the Lexington Tigers. Good Luck Monday.
