  1. Ashley Tiller has just signed with Freed-Hardaman University. She was the P-1st base for Lewis Co. High school.
  2. Pitchers are not typically considered fielders. They are not charged with fielding errrors unless it is a bunt or a routine ground ball. They are however, lible for throwing errors. BTW, wild pitches and pass balls are considered errors if runners advance or are able to reach first base on a strike out.
  3. Lewis Co. has to be on the the list.
  4. Is Valen hurt? She played 1st against us, not catcher. Just wondering.
  5. Giles won in the bottom of the 7th by a score of 4-3.
  6. All games have to have TSSAA umps to count. If a parent would have called the game and a girl got hurt the school could be sued.
  7. You are right, you probably would not have played at the 3A school at that position. It sounds as though you made a decision to play at a private school because you knew you would get to play. And that is the thing... private schools can draw in kids that should be in upper classes and allows them to "play down". It gives kids choices. Do I stay at a big school, not play, maybe not win? Or do I go to a small private school, get to play, have a shot at a state title? As a kid I think the choice is obvious. The majority of public school kids do not have these choices, either because of location or because of money. I will say also, that I have seen one case where the money problem was taken care of by someone!!!
  8. Several years ago CA had a basketball player come in from out of county. He could not afford the private school nor was he affiliated with the church that supports that school. With him on the basketball team, they made it to the state finals. Where did the money come from? This one example.
  9. We teach linear movement in our swing also but the knob to the ball is what starts the bat in motion. That is what makes the barrel be where the ball is at. We don't take the knob to the ball during the entire swing, we do it just to initiate the swing. Do you do something different??? I agree rotational swings are very weak. (if you are just spining) There has to be a weight shift towards the ball to be powerful. [Edited by imasoftballer on 3-26-03 10:36A] [Edited by imasoftballer on 3-26-03 1:52P]
  10. There is no stolen base credited on a pass ball. It is either an error on the catcher(pass ball) or the pitcher(wild pitch). I just wanted to clarify that.
  11. We use the first basemen as cut off only on ball hit to the right side of second base. 3rd and SS are the cut offs on balls hit to the left of second(depending on the situation). The pitcher is always the backup.
  12. She has added about 15mph since the last time we seen her! Today is St. Patrick's Day, April Fools Day is not until next month!!!
  13. One thing to help speed up break in time is to put the glove in the dryer for 20 min. or so. It will soften the leather enough to work it. Be sure to put glove conditioner on the glove after removal. [Edited by imasoftballer on 3-10-03 1:56P]
