  1. I would say McMinn Central and Brainerd will probably be the two to beat again this year. Tellico looks much improved and seem to be getting better each year under coach Yates. Sequoyah looks strong, but are still young. Changed coaches again with Perry Hull back at the helm. Talent alone should win more games than last year (5), but may still be a year away from seriously contending for the district lead. These guys have worked hard all summer and may exceed expectations and suprise a lot of people. Don't know enough about the rest of the district to comment.
  2. Great. Thanks for your response, that answers my questions. Appreciate you posting this. Good luck and hope you have a good turnout.
  3. There is a thread titled "Bowl Games-How to host one". Could someone that has information on how this game was put together please post on that thread. We are considering trying to put on a bowl game at Sequoyah in the next year or two and would just like to know what all is involved in it. Please post on other thread not on this one. This is a game thread. Thanks in advance for any replies. Good luck to both teams Saturday night.
  4. dumdum, I found that thread buried deep so I brought it back up front. It is listed as "Bowl games-how to host one". Maybe we can get an answer from some of the people that are hosting bowls this year.
  5. Can anyone that is hosting a bowl game answer this and let us know how to get approval or whatever needs to be done to host a bowl game? Thanks to any and all responses.
  6. I have asked that question before and someone actually had a thread going about it. Not sure the question ever really got answered. A bowl game would be a good idea, even if Sequoyah went to the playoffs. I think it would be a good money maker that could help the athletic department. Could even be used to pay transportation costs for all the teams. Someone should bring that up to the boosters.
  7. Sunbright (4-6) and Oliver Springs (1-9) are playing this weekend. I also thought you had to have at least five wins, but.....
  8. Sorry Philip, had some technical difficulties. Will be sending you an e-mail shortly with the names. I do know #22 in the photo is Ryan Daugherty. Send the rest in just a minute. I've got it thanks. Had some trouble getting on here, then got busy helping the kids with their new adopted pups. Thanks anyway.
  9. You know, after reading the first few pages, I had to recheck the title to this thread. There has been little mentioned about the thoughts of the Hampton @ Greenback game. Start another thread if you want to argue who is the best between Hampton, Cosby, and Grace. This one is about a game coming up Friday night. All the other talk has been about games already played with the decisions being made final by the triple zeros on the scoreboards. Stick to the topic at hand please.
  10. I know we will find out for sure in November where everyone will be placed, but what is some projections? Like to hear about where all the Region 3-3A teams will be or where you think they will wind up. I know Tellico is going to 1A and will probably be put with South Pitt, Whitwell, Copper Basin and that region. I have heard Sequoyah being put in with Sweetwater, Meigs, Polk, Central, and possibly Loudon, Kingston, and Lenoir City. What about the Chattanooga schools? Let's hear everyone's thoughts.
  11. My sentiments exactly! Hang in there dumdum. Hey, it looks like Madisonville and Vonore may send a couple teams to the league playoffs this year. Good luck to the Chiefs, Devils, and Tornadoes this weekend. Also good luck to the Tornado cheerleaders in their competition this weekend. Last weekend Vonore took 3rd in Crickets and 1st in Hoppers, Cutters, and Juniors.
  12. Excellent post. It would do us all some good from time to time to remember this. Good luck Friday Chiefs.
  13. I think you might be right on that. Does anyone know who the top four from Region 4 are right now?
  14. That sounds kind of like the Sequoyah game. Now is the time to be making the mistakes so they can be corrected before the playoffs. Good luck Central.
  15. Friday night I was on the sidelines helping with stats for the paper. Funny story from the game, I was standing next to Nick Carson when Sequoyah was on defense. Joe Fritts was playing safety. Tellico came to the line and Nick started hollering at Joe to move out of the middle of the field and towards Sequoyah's sideline. Joe moved over, almost lining him up directly behind the DE. I was thinking, "Nick sees something". Sure enough, Tellico passes, Joe moves maybe three steps, and intercepts the ball. I told Nick he needed to tell Joe that he owed him a coke for that. LOL! That just goes to show that these guys are using what they see on game films and recognize it on the field.
  16. Just noticed five on the line and assumed 5-3. You know me, I can't recognize defensive sets very well. Could have swore they opened up in a 4 man front for at least the first possession, but the film doesn't lie. I guess I just couldn't see the 5th guy. I'm still messed up from petting Stingrays and handling horshoe crabs! LOL!!
  17. dumdum, I saw them play against Grundy and they ran some 4-4 and 5-3. Their defense is quick, but T.J. Lynn seemed to be the only real size they had on defense. Jon Sloan is a good lineman on both sides of the ball and Snyder and O'Dell can beat you with their quickness. There is a receiver, Donavan (can't remember his last name) that is tall and can go up and get the ball. I will have to agree with Warhorse, the Chiefs can't take Tellico too lightly because a win against Sequoyah would definitely make their season.
  18. For someone who prides himself on stating facts, you sure got all these "facts" wrong. First of all the name calling only comes when it is warranted. Second, I was never on here talking about how Sequoyah would dominate this year and how they had the best OL and DL in the region. When you state facts make sure you have the facts right. I have bragged on our lineman and still brag on our lineman but I don't know enough about the region to call them the best in the region. I never said they would push Central, Polk, and Howard for a playoff spot. I said, stating my OPINION, that I thought Sequoyah could compete for the final playoff spot. I believe my OPINION had Central, Polk, and Howard as the top three and Sequoyah competing with Notre Dame and East Ridge for the final spot. I also said these were the 2 teams that Sequoyah had to beat in order to accomplish that. 3-7 is better than what we have had in a few years, so maybe you wouldn't call it turning the corner since you have apparently been around only "successful" programs, but I think it would be a step in the right direction. What was Central's record 2 years ago? How about the year before that? And the year before that? The way you talk, you must have played at Maryville, went to college at USC, and played pro ball for the Patriots. When can we expect to see you in the hall of fame? Well, take your best shot at me. You no longer aggravate me, in fact you amuse me. You remind me of another guy that used to be on here that just wanted to state the "facts". Before long his "facts" dried up as will yours. I've made my last comment concerning you. Have a nice life and hope Central remains as good as you want them to be so you don't go back to bashing them.
