  1. I, for one, have enjoyed seeing the passion coming from down south 411. I'm glad you all are that passionate about your team. It takes athletes, but it also takes supportive fans. There has been quiet a bit of questioning an athletes abilities and coaching decisions, but for the most part, every program has a few that do that. Webster defines a fan as: "An enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator". Every program has its fans and band wagon riders. I pull for every team in our region except when they play Sequoyah. That might not be the popular decision, but I want to see our Region in football get as tough as our district in basketball. Good luck to Central and may the good Lord keep all athletes out of harms way.
  2. You bring up some good points. I was just offering up an idea, and of course there are probably more details other than the ones you have pointed out. Maybe just contacting the school board members and county commissioners of Cumberland County would be the best idea. Of course they would probably tell us it was none of our business (the ones outside of Cumberland County), but maybe by doing so, it would draw so much publicity that it would force their hand to do something other than what they are doing. Wouldn't this in some way violate the No Child Left Behind Act if it continued very long? I don't know, maybe someone could do some research or might know enough about it to answer this question. I do know that if there was something I could do, I would be doing it. These students are being punished (although they probably enjoy the extra time away from school).
  3. Played 20 years ago at Vonore. Vonore later combined with Madisonville to make Sequoyah.
  4. This is just an idea and might not even make a difference, but.... How about everyone on coacht banning together for the interest of these students and e-mail TSSAA in support of allowing the kids to transfer if the school system and county commissioners can't do the responsible thing. Also, if someone could get e-mail addresses and phone numbers of the commissioners and school board members and everyone on coacht contact them also, maybe, if done in the interest of the students, enough e-mails and phone calls along with the coverage in the media, might force them to come to an agreement. Again, just an idea....

  6. Glad to hear all the young men are going to be ok. Prayers still going up from Monroe County. Good luck SP on your quest for a back-to-back.
  7. Gatlinburg-Pittman at Tellico Plains
  8. I agree with you TigerPride. It don't mean much but I must correct the record. It is 1-3 (I know that isn't any better). Sequoyah beat Harriman. Haven't heard about tonight's scrimmage against Coalfield. Good luck to all Region 3-3A teams this year.
  9. Prayers from Sequoyah and all of Monroe County.
  10. Looking for software to use on my laptop to keep up with stats this year. Can anyone tell me any websites, stores, etc. where I might be able to get the software? Seen some used last season that updated totals when you put the play results in, but didn't get a chance to ask what kind of program or wherfe they got it. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.
  11. I agree with you on the crowing part. As for ND, in the past when they have claimed a "rebuilding" year, that is when they have been the strongest. Maybe that is why everyone is kind of leary about the "rebuilding". Good luck to you and the rest of the region this upcoming season.
  12. John Wooden once said "Surround yourself with people who will argue with you", this was his reply when asked what his answer was to a healthy life. You are right, that's why they play the game, and in our region, the past has proven anything can happen. Although I feel that this season won't be as unpredictable as others. I am finally at that age to where many of my high school friends now have kids playing in high school and some of them are now on Sweetwater's team, so I don't want to get in trouble with them. LOL! So best of luck to the 'Cats this season and hope you go 9-1. /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />
  13. Checks in the mail logcabinman and 2Afootballman. LOL!! No we appreciate the vote of confidence. I pretty much agree with the order you two have, the only change I think I would make would be Tellico over Grundy. I know that is a reach, but Tellico has some decent athletes and are always good for one region win. I'm pretty sure Grundy comes to the mountains this year, so that is why I am giving Tellico the edge.
  14. Ok, thanks goosevol. I thought I was right, but thought I may have missed something. Your right, its hard to keep up with scrimmages. Good luck this season.
  15. I must have missed something..... by my count it was Sequoyah 3 TD's-Harriman 2. I was talking to several people, so I could have possibly missed something. Anyone know what the final count actually was?
  16. Sweetwater is 10-2 against Sequoyah and has outscored the Chiefs 336-148 for a 28.0-12.3 average per game. That is a 16 point difference. Sequoyah won in 1998 14-7 and in 1999 35-7.
  17. Great thread SWildcat1967. I think this will allow some of the athletes to get the recognition they deserve and for the everyone to hear about some of the athletes they don't know. I would have to add Joe Snyder (TB) from Tellico, Shane Breeden (WB), Kince Rodgers (getting time at QB and TB) from Sequoyah, and of course Blomstrom and Adam Whorley from Sweetwater. I am with you, I want to see all three schools do well, and although I enjoy the trash talking and arguing at times with 2Afootballman and MalcomX, its all in fun for my part. A lot of people make some good points on here, and sometimes I just like to see how passoniate they are in their beliefs! LOL! Just remember guys, its all fun and games!
  18. Sure I can agree with that, but you said your 5 and 6 could beat our top 4. I was just saying I don't believe Rockwood and Oliver Springs could keep teams like Central and Howard at 5 wins or less in 28 tries.
  19. You honestly think our top four couldn't beat Rockwood and Oliver Springs more than 5 times in 28 tries? We will just have to agree to disagree. I don't dispute that Alcoa, Loudon, Sweetwater, and C.A.K. could play in this region and make the playoffs. Alcoa definitely. The others probably most of the time, but Rockwood and Oliver Springs? Rockwood maybe. I would like to see under the new classification, Loudon, Sweetwater, Sequoyah, McMinn Central, Polk County, Meigs County, and Tellico together again. It looks like that could happen with the exception of Tellico. There is history between all these schools and it would make Friday nights more lively.
  20. OK, I see it now. Maybe a comma would have saved the confusion for me. I sometimes have to have stuff spelled out for me. LOL! I don't believe I said all Sweetwater fans predicted the 41-0, but I did hear it and see it posted from more than one, thats why I said Sweetwater fans. MalcolmX, it would be easy to claim a big advantage over a school in a 30 year period when that school hasn't existed for 30 years. I know you are lumping the Madisonville rivalry in with that, but its Sequoyah, not Madisonville. We are not dreaming, just expecting the best from our kids. If we are in a distant land for thinking we can beat Sweetwater, stop in and say hi when Alcoa week comes up
  21. Yeah, but that is vintage Commander Dave! You got to love it!! You got to be brave to wear something that loud! I heard last night that he was helping some with the special teams.
  22. Your talking in circles 2A. You said 35-3 then said a 14 point game in the Cats favor. Remember Sweetwater fans predicted a 41-0 blowout last year.
