Sir I'm not making excuses?? Actually I was complimenting Cornersville? If we aren't healthy then you limit your chances of beating a team as tough as Cornersville is this year. So I guess I should word it this way. Whoever is healthy and playing the TIGERS are fixing to roll! I don't think your as good as Greenback. Just saying...when you beat the best you become the best! It's going to be another slobberknocker!!

Today's paper says Wingo had 15-137 and Petty had 15-108 2 td's rushing. Petty was 5-6 105 1 td passing. Total yds Whitwell 352yds Greenback 328 yds. Greenback run 64 plays to Whitwells 41. Wingo..good job stepping up in the clutch. You could tell you weren't 100 % but you gutted out some big tough yards. You proved a lot last night!! Petty..I don't know what to say other than your a joy to watch..a coach on the field it seems. You have that unknown factor. You stepped up big when Ashworth went down. Stewart you have become a all state caliber WR. Big plays every game lately and #2and #4 have contributed catching clutch balls. Most of all I would like to recognize the offensive and defensive linemen. Outsized on both sides..but played with every ounce of heart they had..gritty group!! We're pretty banged up..our health will be major next Saturday. I hope everyone recovers completely so we're at full speed vs a very tough Cornersville team!

I've had a wonderful day today Cherokee23..thank you! Tomorrow will be even better. Whitwell has its chance to play for a state title and just so happens this mighty foe that goes by the name of GREENBACK!! This foe is proven, mighty and fierce! Whitwell will have to play with every ounce of energy, bits of emotions and a heart full of pride to stay on the field with this Goliath of a opponent. Wingo is going to have a big night running the ball to open up Petty and Ashworth. Stewart and Petty will have to make key receptions with Warner Ashworth playing the game of his career!!! This will be no easy task!! Greenback has heart and pride also! The line on both sides are the key to this game in my eyes. Whitwell has there hands full but the have the team..HEART! But I see the linemen playing there hearts off!! Also, Whitwells defense must play light you up mistake free ferocious defense for 48 minutes...not 43. The DEFENSE must win this game!! Greenback have a safe trip to and from..your a great team and if you win I hope you win it all again if you win tomorrow night!!! WHITWELL TIGERS!!!! It's now or never?? Do you have it? From reading this thread I sense an overall feeling that most here feel Greenback is the superior team...hands down!! They may well be but I just don't think so?? Whitwell..everybody else in the county has been there. This is your opportunity!! You have to play a smart tough smash mouth football! It's your year..but you have to make it happen! Greenback is a mighty foe for sure..but as I said before. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best!!

I don't mean any disrespect towards Greenback in any of my posts. I just don't know much about you other than your apparently pretty dang good! I'm just a excited Whitwell fan hoping to see Whitwell High "Tigers" play for a state championship! They deserve it but you have to earn it! To be the best you have to beat the best!!

I wish I knew a little more about Greenback. I haven't had dealings with them in 15-16 years since in the Satterfield days...lol Some film would be nice. One thing I do believe is this game will be determined in the trenches!! When you get this far you better have a line and a defense or you won't get that ring!! Both teams have skill players..which teams OL can win the battle? Or can either team? I believe #4 for Whitwell has to be the defensive player of the game..ive been watching him and he can take a game over if he wants! But it's not a one man show..#55 and the rest of the DL has to be a disruption all night...this will be your toughest test!! Offensively?? I just keep waiting for Wingo to have that break open game where he takes over and runs like a man possessed!! One of those 200 yard nights where 175 come after you run over somebody!! Well I got pretty close I think. Raulston and the Pirates controlled the game for 43 minutes of the game doing what I suggested...only thing is they play 48 minutes. "Ole mo" hung out on the South Pittsburgh side most of the game until he decided to go to the Whitwell side to say "hi" to a few friends at the five minute mark and man the "mo" swung!! Or did South Pittsburgh wear down?? All I can say is South Pittsburgh..kudos for fighting so hard..11-2 for a rebuilding year..pretty dang good!!! Whitwell you caught a break...just made it happen but you almost got bit on the butt! I told you that you NEVER overlook SPHS! Now are you just glad your this far or you going to win it??? I think that is completely up to you!! You have the team...Just do it!!!! To both teams...what a great game!!! Thank you!

If you come I-24 via I-75 to Hwy 28..the Western Sizzling in Jasper just off exit 155. Awesome place to eat. Probably where the team should have pregame meal. Ten miles from Whitwell.

I joined in April 2001 but only have 335 post in 17 years. Man of few words..but I listen well..lol

I'm neutral in all this but the letter wasn't well thought out. Heck if you can't get fired up for a quarter final game without gadgets then your gasping for air..also all these "prospects" are good and very good players. Whether they sign anywhere depends on more than just being good. It involves grades..attitude..a coach that will get you seen. A lot more involved in signing than you think. The pirates probably think Raulston should sign? He's an excellent high school player. Both the Tigers and Pirates have good players. It all comes down to who can handle the pressure to preform in the quarter finals?? Normally that advantage goes to SPHS but overall a young but still 11-1 team. Age and experience goes to the Tigers 12-0. But can they handle the pressure to perform November 16, 2018 @ 7:00pm CST. Not on the 14th...15th..but Friday at game time?? That's when you have to be better!!! It's Wednesday boys..if your not mentally ready by Wednesday night then your not ready. Tomorrow is a rehearsal..Friday it's time to play cards...lol. Like I said earlier I hope both teams play to there ability and nobody gets seriously hurt. Also to the winner....I hope your 2018 1A State Football Champions!!! Sounds good huh? Good luck to all the players and coaches on both teams...nobody realizes the time and effort it takes to get here...well done and congratulations!!

I've only been to a few games this year due to personal and family illness but I've been keeping up with everything that's going on the best I can. I feel Whitwell has the group to beat South Pittsburgh again but I do believe it will be much tougher game than round one. I've been around valley football since South Pittsburgh won the state in '69. You NEVER overlook SPHS!!! If Whitwell does football is a funny game...when ole mo gets on a certain sideline a lot of things can happen!! But?? If Whitwell gets the mo they are very explosive!!! Turnovers and time of possession will be very important!!! My advice to South Pittsburgh is grind it and control the clock...that will be there best defense keeping the ball out of Whitwells hands. I think the Raulston boy..#9 must be a man possessed running between the tackles and eating the clock while hopefully get points on long drives. Whitwell is very tough defensively! My advice to Whitwell is don't get overconfident and focus! Your the best team but you must play error free ball and hope the weather allows you to throw on occasion. Be aggressive on defense and hit hard..you may wear South Pittsburgh down...but NEVER overlook a team with tradition like SPHS. I hope it's a good clean game with no injuries and I hope the winner takes the state championship!!!

Whitwell is having a very good year this year but the schedule gets to killers role..(Polk County, Trousdale County and South Pittsburgh) Great scheduling former coach...lol. All three will be extremely tough games basically because they have good teams also! Derrick Davis may not have the talent of past years but the man is a good coach...they will play hard and be prepared. Will they be good enough to beat Whitwell? Thats the fun of it...we will see they both have great squads and Friday night you find out? Coach Bouldin has done a great job with this special group at whitwell. They play very hard and are very football smart. He has a very good staff that work hard to prepare for each game. Trousdale is Trousdale..there always good! I dont know much about there coach at the present but there doing well and winning..there always talented so that will be a very tough test also and then South Pittsburgh...this will be a very hard played game...whitwell needs to change history to have a chance but it can happen and if it does in the near future this year would probably have to be it. Just look for a good slobber knockers and yes the pirates will be favored but whitwell will be hungry for some respect!!

I had my doubts too? Its followed him throughout his career. But, as far as a coach he is second to none. The man is very knowledgeable. Very smart. If his past dont continue he will be a legend at Franklin County before he leaves because the man just wins.

Good things are happening at Franklin County. A lot of the community has stepped up to support the Rebels, but many many more should support there local high school athletics..football. Of course when you have a coaching change you also have a culture change in coaches, players and community. Spring practice just started and "Rebel Pride Week" is coming in a couple weeks. Everyone is working hard and the excitement has already grown. I see better things in the future for Franklin County..the wins will increase...may be little by little or the roll may just come on?? Who knows?? The real thing is .....you know its going to happen...the question is just when?? Good luck Rebels!!

Dave and Bill were very big influences in my life. They may not know it but I do. Dave was much a man in his day! It's definitely a sad time for the older folks that had him at Marion and the students he touch at South Pittsburgh. So, both communitys share a heavy heart with his passing . Rest in peace Dave! You are and will be missed by so many!!

I hear that Scott Smith has a interest? Family in the area? If he wants it I hope he gets it..he loves football and he loves his players. Plus he's a good coach! Good luck Coach Smith!
