  1. Congratulations D-B. Great first half. Still another classic. WaCoJaCo said it best, Duran Ferguson. What a player. Most quarterbacks would have suffered a ton of sacks, but this MAN gave up very little. He played every play and he brings it every play. Lamon is good. I still can't believe we had it picked off and he took it away from our DB for a touchdown. These guys have a great supporting cast as well. You are blessed with other very capable receivers. Good Luck on the rest of your season. See you about round three of the playoffs.
  2. If Riverdale is #10 in the nation, then there are at least five other schools in the state that should be ranked in the top twenty. I will say congratulations on being recognized, but I am not even picking you to make the finals this year. Oak Ridge and D-B are ready and can both beat Riverdale any given Friday night.
  3. Pick any score you want, but I say Oak Ridge by 14.
  4. Sorry, I thought it was a Thursday scrimmage for some reason.
  5. Who won? What was the score? Need input!
  6. What other Coach is ahead of Lussier in Wins vs. losses at 4-3? That's as close to having Clark's number as anyone else, isn't it?
  7. Oak Ridge by 14! Lussier has Clark's number now.
  8. Spencer Gulmire at Oak Ridge is pretty impressive. He will start at running back and linebacker. He can block or return punts for td's, block extra points and field goals, and return kick-offs for TD's. He is only going to be a Jr. and has statred at some position since he was a freshman. He has also recovered fumbles, picked off passes and caught passes out of the backfield. He can even sell popcorn at halftime and march in the band!
  9. I think what we witnessed was an awesome game between two very good teams with a great fan base on each side. This is what High School Football is all about. Both teams played their hearts out and both teams left it on the field. I feel bad for my WILDCATS and especially my son, a Senior starter. It was a great run. The best run in seven years by the WILDCATS. I have to hand it to the Riverdale Warriors. Their young team held on to a win that was ours for the taking. 5 yards is the difference in this game, and an appearance in the State title game. Although it is tough for me, I will cheer for the Warriors in this one.
  10. Well, let's see about strength of schedule. Riverdale's opponents record - 68-65 Oak Ridge's opponents record - 59-60 Riverdale played 5 teams with winning record and one .500 team. Oak Ridge played 4 teams with winning record and one .500 team. Yes, I think I see what you mean....not. As for the draining of the talent pool because of 4 5-A teams in your town, let's see.. Siegel 0-10 Oakland 4-7 Blackman 4-6 combined total of 8-23. Yeah, they have taken all your talent and won 8 games. I see how that hurt you....not. Come up Friday night and play a REAL football team, and come watch 'em next Sat. in your town while you bounce a round ball. Roll Wildcats Roll!!! Take no prisoners.
  11. Oak Ridge - 28 Riverdale - 10 Roll Wildcats Roll!!!!
  12. Check out Oak Ridge Football here: http://www9.ortn.edu/users/bsaunders/DEFAULT.HTM We have a huge Visitor's side (because 40 years ago, it was the home side), so bring everyone.
  13. In 1985 the score was 42-7. What a game tonight. Almost a reverse of the regular season game. 28 unanswered points to finish it off. I had the chance to speak to Ferguson and Gaines after the game. They are both polite young men, and great football players. It was a much shorter ride home than I have become accustomed to. Great job Oak Ridge players. Great comeback. See you guys at the 'Ship next year week 3. Roll Wildcats Roll!
  14. Oak Ridge Spencer Gulmire - So. Scott McMahon - Jr. James Mitchell - Jr. Leonard Blair - So. Revel Coffey - So. Emmanuel Isang - Jr. Daniel Johnson - So. Jake Vane - So. Kasey Reed - So. Jon Wilson - Jr. Maurice McKinney - Jr. Eli Manning - So. Adam Spangler - Jr. Tyler Trent - So. Tyler Lane - Fr. Troy Venable - Fr. I know this is more than 10, but these guys are the best returners we have.

  16. Art, Check this website for all you wanted to know about Oak Ridge Football. http://www9.ortn.edu/users/bsaunders/DEFAULT.HTML This is a website put together by our adminstrative coach. Great site for Oak Ridge fans. You may like it too. I'll go ahead and tell you that the Wildcats are 8 time State Champs.
  17. I agree. This game is still too early. These two teams are among the top in the state, and shouldn't have to meet until at least the Semi's. Anyway, good luck to both teams, because I will be pulling for the winner of this one to go ALL THE WAY! ROLL WILDCATS ROLL!
  18. I think it's pretty obvious that Middle is made up of Regions 3,4,5, & 6, while East and West only have 2 Regions each. Middle gets to send their 2 best teams in each direction to face only one representative of the other. I believe that the 4 Teams that belong in the Semi's should be D-B, OR, Lincoln Co., and Germantown. Riverdale has two losses, and don't belong in the Semi's. We have to live with this alignment for one more year. In reality, OR or DB will eliminate one or the other, and then there will still be at least one team that don't belong there.
  19. Art, Yes, Stanton Stevens (A-E Coach) is young, but a fine young coach. I know that Corey has had several colleges showing interest. Earlier in the year, I was hearing about a possibility for a full ride at Marshall. I think now though he is getting some looks from other schools. I have questioned all along if his size will get in the way. He did surpass Shawn Summers for the career touchdowns this season, but he played four years versus Shawn's 3 years. He needed 116 yards to take over the career yardage record coming in to tonight. I don't know how many he wound up with, but he left early, when he had some problems with a previously injured shoulder. Gulmire stepped up and filled his shoes. Also, FYI.. James Mitchell, #44, a linebacker broke the record for most tackles in a career. Get this.. he's only a Junior. Get Ready for the largest Oak Ridge crowd to come there in years, (I hope). Best of Luck in this upcoming game of East Tennessee Football Titans. Roll Wildcats Roll!
  20. Art, To assist you, as you requested, it's Spencer Gulmire. He had a huge game tonight. And #17 is Jared Stevens (younger brother of Ausin East Head Coach Stanton Stevens). He has really grown as a player since the 1st game at D-B. Looking forward to the game Friday. Congratulations on tonight's game. I'm surprised they scored at all on you guys. I tried to tell them on that other thread to be prepared for hte atmosphere at J. Fred Johnson Stadium. They just don't understand until they come up there and lose a big game. Talk to ya.
  21. Guesswho? Guess again. I was at McMinn Co. last year when the Oak Ridge Wildcats trounced your Cherokees 44-3. Now, I tried to be nice in my post and let you think you may have a chance at D-B. But since you started it, here is the deal. Yes, you guys usually have a good crowd, but they thin out quick when you get trounced at home. We led 21-0 at D-B this year, and fortunately for them their crowd stayed to cheer them to a come from behind victory. I have seen good McMinn Co. teams play at Athens, and it is a good atmosphere, and I can tell you that you have never seen the crowd at your field in Athens that you will see on the opposing side at D-B. I probably would not bother bringing the horse, either, because if it goes like your Oak Ridge Game last year, the horse will not be needed, since he does not come out for a Field Goal. Now, I will make a prediction....Cherokees, healthy or ill D-B 35 McMinn maybe 3 And don't be mad, Cherokee Fans, because you're Guesswho? started it. Enjoy the off-season. Be prepared next year for the Wildcats. They are realigning the alignment back to 3AAA after that, so maybe you can go undefeated at home every year, since the Wildcats won't ruin your parade. By the way, that Science Hill team you beat last week only beat Campbell Co. 3-0. Campbell Co. HAHA Go Dobbyns-Bennett, hope to win Fri. night and bring it to you next week.
  22. I was only assuming that Lincoln Co. would win. You are right it could very well be Riverdale. Of course we have to beat Jeff Co., and assumedly come to your place. Man, what a tough place to win one over the Indians. Good luck with McMinn. I hope we can take Jeff. Co. and still be standing to come up there to beautiful J. Fred Johnson stadium and take on a fine better than expected D-B team. Hope to see you on the 21st, I think. I've had far too many long rides home from up there.
  23. McMinn Co. fans, be prepared. J. Fred Johnson Stadium on Friday night is as good as it gets anywhere in the state. I have traveled there for many games over the years. My son, a Senior this year went to games with me there when he was playing football with the other kids behind the visitors bleachers in Center and Right fields of the converted baseball field. He told me before we went there last year for the playoffs, that he was thrilled to go play in that atmosphere. He remembered from earlier years when he used to show up in the bleachers at halftime to say "Are we going to lose again?" He was bound and determined now to beat these guys on their field. The Indians at their stadium is like playing Notre Dame in South Bend or The Yankees in Yankee Stadium. There is a certain mystique. If you come out of there with a win, it will have been the game of their young lives. I am not saying they cannot be beat, we almost got them this year, but I have sure had many long rides home. Anyway, best of luck to both teams. I am not going to pick a winner. We will play whoever wins, if we get past Jeff. Co. this Friday. As much as it would be easy to say we would prefer getting McMinn back at our place next week, we would love to go to Kingsport and play the Indians for the ever elusive win at J. Fred Jonson Stadium. We have to take care of business with Jeff Co. or we won't have to wonder if we could have won at D-B or beat McMinn Co. twice in one season. Roll Wildcats Roll!
  24. If OR beats Jeff Co. and then the winner of D-B vs. McMinn, Lincoln Co. has to play the Wildcats at the 'ship, not the pit. Roll Wildcats Roll!
