drega06, 5 starters going both ways. Better be in shape for the early games. That in itself may be why Webb always beats Powell. Are there two Jonathan Price's at Powell (#4 on offense, #20 on defense)? I think his brother played at Halls, guess he moved to Powell also.

HTV, I beg to differ with you. 1.) The guidelines for school zones have been the same for many years, now the zones have changed, but not the rules. 2.) TSSAA rules say you can't have TWO homes and claim alternating residences, which Chavis probably did. 3) Do the Hubers still live in the condo. Also was Powell HS Huber's 2nd or 3rd choice after being told he would have to move to Maryville to play for them? Without naming names, how many little devils are you speaking of? I know of none in the last 8-9 years that didn't live in Halls. Maybe you are speaking of one family that lived in Halls, got a transfer to Central, pops got mad, went back to coaching at Powell, moved into mom's house with son in Powell's zone.

HTV, Now let me get this straight. The Cruze family is from Powell, moved to Central so Bird could play there (when Kelly Robinson left Powell for Central), got caught with SOMETHING and sent to school at Yokley (where Darryl Smith teaches but coaches at Powell), moved with his family BACK to Powell, and will play for the Panthers this fall, where DArryl Smith coaches. Will Matt Lowe let this young man play? Heck yea, just because he gets caught with SOMETHING and gets sent to the ALTERNATIVE school doesn't mean he can't play for Powell. No morals whatsoever, Lowe had has good teachers along the way. Between Powell and Central there are more shady dealings than any two other schools in Knoxville. Look back at the history -> Chavis, Huber, Cruze (both of em).

How can Cruze be eligible when he was kicked out of Central after an ALLEDGED drug situation?

Webb will win the battle with Powell once again this year. The Panthers would be better off waiting a couple of more years before scheduling Webb again.

I agree, but what kind of message does it send out to people. Unless I missed it, he is walking on at Memphis and did not even make all-district this year in baseball, but he gets drafted, sure makes the district coaches look like idiots for not selecting him to the team.

Thought I would wait for at least a week before I posed this question. Why would Zach Helton get drafted by the Rockies (other than being Todd's cousin)? I saw 2 of the 3 games he played against us this year and I don't remember him getting a hit in either game. I know Lockwood was more deserving, even if I do have differences with his cocky attitude.

zcar, Agree on all points of your evaluation of the Devils. But remember, a lot of teams get manhandled by D-B. And you have to admit Campbell Co. is not exactly the cream of the crop when you play in our region. Hey, were you surprised that neither Lockwood and Lucas got drafted in baseball? What a bummer, sure thought Lockwood would get a call, hoping for Trey-boy also.

When you talk about making Cody pitch the ball, that's what defenses do isn't it, take away the best threat and make someone else beat you. Coach Julian knows enough about stopping offenses, but sometimes when your best ain't better than someone else's best, even the best laid plans go haywire.

HTV, Been a while since you and I had a coacht chat, but here goes. I watched the video and watched Cody play against the Devils for the past 3 years (1 as a tail back and 2 as a QB). Now in the video I did not notice any team having more defenders on Cody. From what I could tell it looked like a regular defense to me. I will stand corrected if you prove me wrong.

HTV, Can't a draftee that has a military commitment, sign with a pro team? I know in days past they could. Have they stopped that?

HTV, Can't someone still be drafted from one of the academies? Now granted they must serve their time, but that does not stop a team from drafting them does it?

Did Ronnie Carter dream up this proposal all by himself? If he did then he ought to be fired right now. If he didn't, then who did or what group did?

fariplay, I am afraid the Devils might be in a little trouble this year. They didn't look very good against DB. They did bounce back in the next scrimmage, but they lost a ton of good players from last year's team. I hope they are working extra hard this summer. The schedule was a little better last year than in the past. Sevier Co, Central, Powell, Maryville will be tough games to win, but we should have a shot at the others. Now how good of a shot, only time will tell.

Old Redskin, Nice thought. but this idea won't ever float. How would all of the coaches deal with no AAU basketball while they finish baseball, what about all of the passing leagues or college camps that are held in June? No way JOSE.

We were missing some players, which is usual, and D-B was missing some players which is usual. All in all I would guess we missed less than D-B. But you can bet this fall will be different, provided we do the scrimmage like we have been doing.

I was always told zero tolerance stayed with you until the school system removed it. What I am trying to say is if you are classified as z.t. it stays with you until that system changes there mind and drops you from z. t. Is this right or am I confused?

purplegrad, did you say you don't "hit" during spring practice. Well bud it is evident you don't go to Halls, cause they hit during spring. Vultor, I think that rule is for school sports and non-school sports. If what you are saying is correct then you can't go take batting practice on Saturday when your basketball team is still playing.
