  1. The only people that predicted NCS to beat Moore County was NCS people. Everybody knew Moore County had more size, quickness and athletes than NCS. I doubt if Moore County been an underdog more than a couple of times all year if that many. NCS played a very weak schedule through out the year and it showed their last two games. They hustle, shoot the three well and are well coached but more than that is needed to get to the state. Moore County might beat Eagleville but I believe we can pull this one out and once again we will be the underdog.
  2. Culleoka, Nashville Christian, Van Buren County all picked by the majority to beat Eagleville and a lot of people had Clarksville Acadermy picked to win but we know what happened. Keep on picking them to lose but once again I believe our balance will give us the win. Eagles win in a close one.
  3. I'm not one for being critical of referees for I have been one. But don't go overboard on complementing these referees. It was not a good job, when you have one referee dominating the game by making the majority of the calls and also making calls when he is out of position and all the way across the floor. They did a fair job in a tough environment but it was obvious that one referee did take personal some of the obnoxious comments made by fans. I know it is tough being a referee and I believe overall the referees were fair not good. I do want you to kinow in my time as a refree I was never good but fair. There is always room for improvement.
  4. I have to admit it wasn't the best called game in the world. There were bad calls going both ways. But at the end there was no foul. Eagleville players had there arms straight up, they did not leave the ground thus when Culleoka players initiated the contact while shooting no fouls were called. Culleoka problem was they did not get the ball to there star player at the end of the game. Every time he drove the ball during the game a foul was called, regardless if it was a foul or not( I guess the Jordon rule was in affect, the star player always gets fouled when he drives to the basket). Once again Eagleville's balanced offense and tough defense won the game. It is hard for a one dimentional team ( 3 pt shooting team NCS or a one star player team, Culleoka) to win a championship. It was a great crowd at the game, looking forward to the state tournament. I'm sure we will be the underdog in every game we will play. Remember Eagles it is a team game and it doesn't matter who leads us in scoring it is all about the win.
  5. You win and die by the 3. NCS played a team that has good size but also has the athletes with quickness that can play good perimeter defense. Thus NSC died. Also the balance of Eagleville has shown in the tournament games. Each game a different person leads the team in scoring. I'm afraid that NCS will run into the same type of team in Moore County. You can't get the the gold ball by only shooting three pointers. One thing about NSC is they play very hard and are well coached but I'm afraid that will get you only so far. Eagleville will have a very tough team to play in Culleoka but I rather play them at home than travel to Lynchburg to play Moore County. Go Eagles
  6. The region championship is Thursday, Hillwood H.S. 7pm. I'm not sure about the sub-state.
  7. Two well played games, the finals should be a good game. The quickness and 3 pt shooting of NCS could be a major concern for Eagleville but we have pretty good quickness ourselves. One problem I see is we really haven't played a team with that type of offense all year thus a completely new defensive game plan must be put into place in a short amount of time. I do believe us having a very balanced team scoring wise could help us. If we can play good defense on the perimeter we might have a chance for an upset. One way we are different than VB is that we have more than one person who can post up inside thus that might be difficult for NCS to handle, it's hard to double and triple team three people. I'm looking forward to a great game and atmosphere.
  8. I never implied that it want be a close game. It is obvious by their record that CA has a very good team. No, I have not seen them play, but in general Eagleville has been bigger and a little more athletic than most 1a teams. I believe Eagleville's balanced attack and deep bench will help them win tonight. I am looking forward to the game tonight. I'm glad we are playing the first game, that way I will be able to get home and see most of the UT/Vanderbilt game tonight. GO EAGLES (Eagleville & VB) I believe district 9 might get a sweep tonight, both games should be close.
  9. Motivation for winning a game is advancing in the tournament so you can win the big one. Both Eagleville and VB has just as much motivation plus they are more talented. The balance of inside/outside game of these two teams will advance them in the tournament. Plus I have the feeling that they would like to win one for their coach also.
  10. I believe you also picked ER to beat Eagleville in a upset in which we easily won and did not even play well. Keep on picking against Eagleville you are our good luck charm. The one thing about Eagleville is they have very balanced scoring. All five starters can score in double digits and even one from off the bench. If we will stay away from zone defenses unless we are in foul trouble I believe we will win this one. We seem to be a little more athletic than most 1a teams and thus I believe we are a better team when we play man to man. Since the starting lineup changed toward the end of the season our defense has been much better. Offensively we can score against anyone as long as we play under control. I believe VB might upset NCS. VB is a well coached team not as athletic as Eagleville but has the tendacy to play smarter ball. I believe NCS playing a weak schedule will hurt them and not prepare them for this game. GO EAGLES
  11. Eagleville has finally settled on a starting lineup after many changes during the year. With the Wilson boys now starting with the 3 seniors and Nelson a defensive stopper coming off the bench, Eagleville will be hard to beat especially at their place. All five starters are capable of scoring in double digits, this makes for a very balanced team. I have not seen E Robertson, do they have anyone that can handle Lilliard one on one inside. Against VB he had 28 pts and 17 rebounds one of the best individual performances that I saw this year. What kind of size do they have? Can they handle two 6'6" guys inside. Looking forward to Saturday nite I hope the UT / Memphis game does not hinder the crowd. What time is the game.
  12. It should be Eagleville and VB in the finals. Both of these teams are the class of the district. Maybe we will stay away from the zone press that VB ate up with their outstanding 3 pt shooting the last time we play. Once we went to man to man we matched up with them pretty well. Both teams should win in the semi's with close games going into the 4th quarters. Both teams have to much depth to lose in the semi's. VB and Eagleville win by double digits.
  13. Eagleville wins in a tight one. Unlike the first meeting between the two, Eagleville has everybody back healthy. Being at Eagleville we should have the advantage, I believe our depth will pay off and VB will get into early foul trouble. It should be a great game. Who ever is able to stay out of foul trouble and hit the outside shot will win. Both teams have a good inside game but having our pt guard and our #1 defensive stopper back should make the difference. We should have fewer turnovers than the last game. GO EAGLES (Eagleville).
  14. It is not obvious that VB will finish first and Eagleville second. Eagleville has lost one game and that was to VB and we had two starters out, our pt. guard and our best defensive player. We do play them again at the end of the season and at home. Personally I think we will beat them this time. But I guess they would still get the title because they would have a better overall record. Looking forward to that game. Anyone know for sure what would happen if they end in a tie?
  15. No our district is really weak this year not nearly as balanced as in the past. Usually their are 4 good teams, this year only 2. Look at our districts record against other districts, not to good.
  16. As expected, an easy win for Eagleville 80-56. Did not get to see the game. I thought it might be a little closer since it was a home game for Cascade. To bad the Eagles were missing the starting point guard 14 pts 9 assists per game plus the defensive stopper when they played VB a few weeks back. But at least we will have everybody back when we play them again. In our gym with everybody healthy I think we can beat VB. Looking forward to that game.
  17. Eagleville has had a couple of players out for a few games due to sickness and a two game suspension for one player. I believe everybody is back. This team has a lot of upside especially in the three headed monster of Lenker, Porter and Lilliard. All three can score 20 on you when healthy and they are team players. Nothing against Cascade but Eagleville should have little trouble tonight unless they decide not to play defense as they choose to do occassionally. Eagleville can score on anyone, their problems tend to be on the defensive side of the ball. Being at home and getting closer to tournament time I expect Eagleville to get a double digit win. Over the years Eagleville has always played their best ball at the end of the year. I just realize that we play at Cascade. I still predict a double digit win
  18. We have always had a good coach. Coaching was not the problem. The majority of the problems and loses were due to other things that coaching had nothing to do with. Evidently the 2005 team had good coaching 7-3 and 6-1 in region play. I'm tired of people who know nothing about football always blaming loses on the coach. Oh yeah not to take anything away from the new coach I'm sure he we do a great job.
  19. District 9 looks like a 2 team race between Van Buren Co. and Eagleville. Both teams have good inside presence and in fact the only teams in the district that have a strong inside game. It should be down to wire between those 2 teams. I have yet to see Van Buren play this year what kind of guard play do they have and can they light it up from outside or do they completely rely on the inside game. I know their inside guys can play but what about their guard play. Give me your opinions.
  20. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I thought he was out control but thats my opinion and evidently the opinion of the referee. I wish Community the best and I hope they have a great season. I do think your coach is doing great job. We all have our moments including me. That is just the way I saw it.
  21. The coach was out of the coaches box thru out the first half and I don't know if a warning was given or not. They do not have to make that known like they do in football. I do know that the referees were more than patient when it came to Community coming out on time after time outs and at the end of quarters. Numerous warnings were given to Community concerning that. I will admit it wasn't best the refereed game I have ever saw but that is part of 1a H.S basketball. I do believe the coach losing his cool affected his team. I have coached and I have been a referee they both have a tough job. But sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Concerning the ball game Community plays hard and will upset some teams when they have their outside shot going all four quarters. They just struggle a little bit when it comes to an inside game. I also was surprised with them struggling against the trap press. I wish them the best.
  22. I know nothing about this official and I am not taking up for him. But the fact is your coach was out of control and deserved the technical. He was way out on the floor yelling repeatily at one of his players. I was at the game and the coach was close to 10 feet out on the floor and in fact after the technical was given he continue to yell at his player. He would have received a technical in most high school games.
  23. It was an easy win for Eagleville. After the first quarter it was a double digit lead for most of the game. Community cut it to nine on a couple of occassions. Community plays hard but just don't have the horses underneath. Eagleville missed a lot of free throw and had way to many turnovers. That we hurt them when they play a good team. I think the final score was 70-56. Van Buren and Eagleville seems to be the class of district 9. The district is not as strong as it has been in the past.
  24. Eagleville easily beat Cascade by 19. Eagleville's big men dominated. The two big guys had about 40.
  25. Eagleville is a great place to live. Espescially the Eagleville - Rockvale area. There you you are about 15 miles from Murfreesboro and have all the advantages of a larger town. You also have the advantage of chosing Eagleville or Riverdale as your High School. A new middle school is being bult in the Rockvale area and will open in 2008. They will have a football program at the Jr. High level. Eagleville also has a football program at the Jr. High level. Rockvale will be a much larger school than Eagleville. My son played 4 years at Eagleville and attended the school since the 1st grade. He loved it, no school is perfect but there are a lot of advantages to a k-12 school and they do a good job of supporting there sports. Coach Scharsh who resigned did a great job building the football program from scratch. He will be missed and I wish him well. His positive influence and role modeling to my son was great and I appreciate it very much. I'm sure Eagleville will find a good coach for our situation.
