  1. Oneida will be at Coalfield in week 11 next year.
  2. I don't know too many (good) coaches that try to WIN a scrimmage anyway. Most use it to evaluate their kids against stronger competition than they would typically see in practice.
  3. Doug is still around Coalfield. He was a teacher here but has since retired.
  4. Jimbo's mishap came in a game versus Unaka if I remember correctly.
  5. Champion: Sunbright Runner up: Coalfield 3rd place: Dayton City
  6. Champion: Coalfield Runner up: Oakdale 3rd place: Dayton City
  7. All CLASSES are not supposed to be represented. All areas are. TSSAA divides the state into athletic districs by county. District one being upper east TN counties, District two being the valley around Knoxville and the upper Cumberland region, etc. Each representitive on the board should represent the same number of schools. I have never done the math to see how close it is. One vote per athletic district is never going to make both large and small schools, not to mention privates, happy.
  8. We know that Maryville has the longest winning streak and that Red Boiling Springs is on the other end. I know that there can't be many win streaks longer than 15 games provided that last year's champion won early this year, but what are some of the losing streaks that we may know as soon as RBS gets off the schnide?
  9. thanks. That is very impressive
  10. I am a Maryville fan but not an avid follower of the Rebels. I have a local team in 1A that I must show my allegiance to until they are no longer playing. I have some questions about the Rebels that I hope someone can answer. I know that it is 45 wins in a row now and that they last lost in 03. Can someone give me some numbers like they have won 70 of the last 73 games or how many straight regular season wins they have? Just curious. I think they do a great job and I enjoy watching them when I get the chance. Thanks
  11. The Coalfield Yellow Jackets play on Rochelle field. Named for a teacher/principal in the early days.

    Fireworks

Coalfield was approached by a group of fans about shooting the fireworks. They were told no because the TSSAA doesn't allow for it. They asked about doing it off campus and they were still told that TSSAA will not allow it. They then called the TSSAA and were told they could shoot them as long as they were not on school property.
  13. Didn't CAK beat Cloudland up there two years ago?
  14. The Jackets better find #63 and get a hat on him when he is on defense. He played hard all night.
  15. I have known Coach Treece for many years and I have never heard him guarantee any thing, much less a victory over a county rival in any sport. It would be hard to think that anyone could guarantee anything this early in the season. Any one with any baseball knowledge should know that pitching should have the advantage early in the year, but also that the good ol' east Tennessee weather can also play a part in how many pitches an arm can handle. I think that the game will be won or lost with pitching but I won't guarantee that!
  16. The game is definately at Wartburg. It starts at 7 p.m.
  17. Indianapolis has never won a Super Bowl. The Baltamore Colts did. You should have stuck with the men of steel like your dad.

    ETEA

Anyone in East Tennessee playing on Thursday?
  19. The $2000 flat is for head football and basketball only. Baseball, Softball, and all assistants get only $1000
  20. The TSSAA has dropped the ball on the public-private split. I know that Mr. Carter doesn't want to use the term majority, but when better than 60% of your schools want something, you should probably honor their wishes. Even though there wasn't a clear majority of schools voting for the split, the numbers should have shown that more schools wanted the change than did not. Any governing body that pays no attention to the voice of those they govern is nothing more than a dictatorship!!! The message that was sent out yesterday is that all public schools in class 1A are playing for second place. Maybe not even that good. Six of the final eight teams in the playoffs were private institutions. How many of those schools have played football for less than five years. How can you go from 0-10 one year to 15-0 the next. I have been around football for a number of years now as a player, fan, and coach, and I have seen some very good football teams. Both public and private. Greenback in 87 was one of the best. South Pittsburg and Trousdale County are also some good ones. I haven't seen a team that could match up with Cloudland of 2000. They had size, speed, strength, and the ability to beat the brains out of anyone who lined up across from them. They go to the championship game and get beat by 40 points!?! In a game that could have been 90!?! I don't doubt that kids at a private school works hard. Most probably go to the extra camps and training sessions. Most do this because they can afford it. The thing that I don't understand is this. Morgan County has four high schools that play football. They have been playing for more than 50 years. There have been some excellent teams and some really good players. Not once in the history of all four schools combined has there been a serious big time college prospect. (That I can remember. Only been around since 70) Some schools like DCA and Ezell send three or four kids off one team to SEC schools in one year. Does that sound like balance. The multiplier system wont work. It will take the problem away from me and my 1a brethren (which I will like), but it will pass it on to 2a. We voted for a change and we were denied the change. The governing body that is supposed to take care of us turned its back on us. They dropped the ball.

    playoffs

I am glad to see the number of private schools left in class A.
  22. The officials called a good game. Unfortunately for us, the calls didn't go our way. There was a block in the back on 25's return. It was a good call. 5 did push off in the end zone. We didnt make the plays when we needed to. Greenback did. That is all there is to it.
  23. I thought that Hampton was the Bulldogs
  24. Thanks Ro. We really played well on defense tonight. We ran the ball well too. Silvey really stepped up tonight. We will have to raise the game to an entirely new level for next week. As for not scoring at the end, Jason was a Jacket at one time. We still love him even though he wears another color now. No need to score the last one when there is no time left on the clock.
