  1. Good to hear a good report about Levi. Our continued prayers for his full recovery from Bulldog country.
  2. This Friday Milan travels to Covington to take on the Chargers. The last time these two teams faced each other Milan went on to win the State 3A championship in 1999. By the way, they won the state 2A Crown the year before, moved up to 3A as the smallest 3A school and won the state title. Certainly, Covington will be looking to even the score. The Chargers certainly are impressive with size and speed. Granberry is an excellent back and should be playing on Saturdays next fall. I predict that this will be a real "slobber knocker." Here is wishing for a classic football matchup. Milan wins 35-14. GO DAWGS!
  3. In 2A you need to look at Milan's Offensive Line. The offensive line coach said that he has had great individual players during his tenure, but, never as a group. As a unit this line is putting up impressive numbers. It has 1 - 3 year starter in Ryan Barnes who is being recruited. 2 - 2 year starters in Tim Mosby and Ryan Scott. Mosby is a senior and Scott is a junior. 2 first year starters in Bryce King and Stephen Sanderson. King is junior and Sanderson is a senior. Add in tight end Brad Garmany, a senior, and you have a great "o" line. They might not be the biggest and fastest, but, just ask this year's opponents. Ask George West, Ricky Goff, and Rod Smith. To qoute the Milan Mirror a few weeks back, "It all starts here." GO DAWGS!
  4. Thanks for the compliments. Milan has a lot to be proud of in this year's team. Kudos to the Dresden Lions players, coaches, and fans. You displayed the utmost support for your team and sportmanship. Have a great year! GO DAWGS!
  5. Sam Sullivan from Milan leads all 2A in West TN. Friday Night against Dresden he was 7 of 7 on extra points with a 47 yd. field goal. GO DAWGS!
  6. Was this the kid that was injured on the kickoff return? Hope that everything is o.k. with him. Prayers go out from all Bulldawg fans.
  7. Some people read only what they want. If you were to read further down the shirt it says, "Made, Not Born." I must say that by the way the "Dawgs" played against Friday night was impressive. Many times after a big win, Like Huntingdon, a team will let down. By what I saw last night the Bulldawgs are very focused on each game. Whether we win the state or not, this is a very special team at Milan this year. One of the very best all time teams in Milan's long storied history, if not, all of West TN. GO DAWGS!
  8. From an earlier post I predicted that Milan would win going away with too many weapons for the Lions, 48-14. Milan tamed the Lions with a 54-19 score. Dresden scored two touchdowns in the 4th Quarter with their 1 team defense and offense against Milan's 2nd and 3rd team. Kudos to the Dawgs for another stellar game. Milan displayed another weapon when in the 4th quarter Daniel Beasley returned the kick-off 92 yards for a touchdown. Along with this, he had over 100 yards receiving. Throw in a touchdown by Brett Ramsey, Ricky Goff, and over 200 yards by Rod Smith with two touchdowns, and you have an attack that can strike from anywhere on the field. Kudos to Dresden for a never give up attitude. They fought all the way to the end. When you have guys playing both ways against a team that only has two that play both ways, conditioning becomes a factor. Kudos to Coach Jeff Morris and staff for an excellent game plan that struck early and often. Defensively the Bulldawgs didn't give up a first down until the last part of the second quarter. Kudos to Sam Sullivan for an apparent 42 yard field goal that was nullified for a false start penalty. Only to be backed up 5 yards and nail the 47 yard field goal. All but one or two of the kickoffs were touch backs. Another weapon in the arsenal. Thumbs down to the refs. Seemed that some of the "out of position" refs were flag happy. Dresden had 2 penalties and Milan had 9 for 90 yards. When you are at the top of the heap, sometimes people shoot for the top man. Final Kudo to the Milan fans who packed the stands for Homecoming. The stands were rocking with "Who Let the Dawgs Out." Should be a great trip to Covington next week against a good 3A team. Here is looking forward to being back at Johnnie Hale Stadium for week 10 opponent, Humboldt, for Senior Night. GO DAWGS!
  9. This morning I talked with a "Seasoned" coach from another school district who was at the Milan - Huntingdon game. The question that I asked Him was what he thought of Milan's team. His words were, "Milan has too many weapons for a team to focus one on aspect." I thought that was a pretty unbiased opinion from a man who has had champoinship teams the last few years. As SLS stated, there is still work to do. Milan cannot and will not become complacent. With any great team there is always a focus. Having been around these kids I must say that they are focused. GO DAWGS!
  10. Tonight matches two undefeated region 7-2A foes in Milan and Dresden. Both teams are coming off big wins last week. Milan defeated Undefeated Huntingdon and Dresden defeated Undefeated McKenzie. This game should be for the region championship and home field advantage in the playoffs. Dresden comes in with a big offensive line and a stable of running backs. Milan brings to the game an arsenal of weapons that can strike anywhere on the field. Milan should strike early and often which will take the Lions out of their game plan of controlling the ball. Look for the defense to turn in another stellar performance against a talented Dresden offense. As I mentioned in another post, Milan wins this one going away 48-14. This should put Milan in sole possesion of the region 7-2A crown with one region game remaining against county foe, Humboldt. Also, it would give them a near lock on "home field advantage" in the playoffs. Looking forward to a great game tonight. GO DAWGS!
  11. From Milan you have Daylan "DayDay" Walker. Runs a sub 4.4 in the 40. Great receiver and d/b. Chris Burke - plays noseguard for Milan. Wreaking havoc. Just ask anyone from Huntingdon. Camped in their backfield all last Friday night. GO DAWGS!
  12. I haven't seen Lewis County play, but I understand that they are a very good team. I would relish the opportunity for them to come and play a Milan or a Huntingdon team, or a Mitchell. In West "Alaska", excuse me, West TN we do our talking on the field. We will be watching for those matchups come playoff time. In the meantime, good luck to all teams on a great season. GO DAWGS!
  13. Here are three that are already mentioned: 1) Rod Smith - Milan 2) Kenneth Foust - Union City 3) Yeley - Dresden All are very capable running backs. Being a big Milan fan I would have to go with Rod Smith. Not just being a fan, but, because he has improved every year into one of the finest to ever wear the purple. We will be eagerly watching him play on Saturdays next year. Kenneth Foust is a back that scares the daylights out of you. Both years against Milan he has proven with a decent offensive line that he can be explosive. We will find out about Yeley this Friday night at Johnnie Hale Stadium. I am excited to see this kid play. I just hope he doesn't have a banner game against the "dawgs." GO DAWGS!
  14. From a Milan Fan's Point of View, I was glad that this Donald kid was not playing the whole game. Bell is more of a scat back, while Donald has the moves and the power. I believe that Stang fans will have alot to brag about in the next three years. Before it is all said and done, barring any serious injuries, Chris Donald will be one of the best, if not the very best, back in TN H.S. Football. Can you say Future "Mr. Football." Also, great to see a kid with so much talent with a great head on his shoulders. Wish the stangs well for the rest of the season.
  15. After reading your posts, Galilee, you admit that you are the AD at Mitchell. That explains your comments regarding Milan Bulldogs. All I can say is that Memphis needs to do something about it's playing fields. Last year's playoff game at Whitehaven would have been better played on the parking lot at the Mall of Memphis. The conditions were ridiculous at best. By the way, at halftime, our band stood and watched with respect as your band played. While Milan's band was performing, Mitchell's band laid down in the stands and disrespected Milan. While leaving after the game, Milan fans were disrespected as fans from Mitchell stood and jeered as we left the stadium. When you come to Milan I can guarantee you that Milan will respect you before, during, and after the game. One thing you can count on is that Milan still has a bad taste in their mouths about last year's game. We will let it all hang out. Just be ready when you come to the "DAWG POUND." Because just like the Baha Men you will be singing, "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT." GO DAWGS!
  16. Milan is not arrogant, according to opinion, just confident. When you have won four state championships, ranked in the top five in scoring, ranked in the top ten is points allowed, gone to Huntingdon and defeated an undefeated team and held them to six points, your first string offense with the exception of Hunt. game has played only 3+ quarters of most games, sent either 6 or 8 players to run through the "T", many others have played and are currently playing college football, and the list goes on. Then and only then can you be as confident as Milan. Players play up to your expectations. In Milan we take one game at a time and settle for nothing less that our guys laying it all on the line. PERIOD! GO DAWGS!
  17. To answer your question, YES. Purpletrock was just stating the facts. Yes, these are just kids. Facts are facts and don't try to take things out of context and place judgement upon someone you do not know. GO DAWGS!
  18. Some people talk the talk, but, can they walk the walk? As I stated earlier in the season, Milan is a team that is poised and focused, taking one game at a time in mission to Dec. 5th. We are not taking anyone lightly, Coach Morris and his staff are too good of coaches to let that happen. GO DAWGS!
  19. Jeff Morris was named Titan's Prep Coach of the Week on Monday. What a great honor for a class coach. Coach Morris is not only a class coach but a tremendous influence on the guys who play for him at Milan. By the way, He always has the Bulldawgs in the running each year when it comes to playoff time. He has led the Dawgs to back to back State Championships in 1998 and 1999. Milan is poised for a tremendous run through the playoffs this year as well. Kudos goes to his staff of coaches as well. This groups has been together for a number of years and work wonderful together as a team. THanks, Coaches Jackson, Holden, Acuff, Green, Coleman, Hinson. GO DAWGS!
  20. Same here Purpletrock. Dresden has had a good season but by the way the Dawgs have played and are focused, this could be a long night for the Lions. GO DAWGS!
  21. Should be a great game between two great teams. Like someone said, Milan scrimmaged Crockett Co. and played Southside in the Jamboree. Both have dangerous weapons on offense and defense. I'll go with my gut instincts on this one. Southside in a close one, 34-28
  22. Like several people I too picked MdKenzie over Dresden simply because of the "Fun and Gun" offense. Dresden proved that McKenzie can be shut down with a good defense. Like SLS said, Dresden proved last year that they could hang with Milan. If my memory serves me correctly, Dresden was leading at half time and Milan came storming back. Word has is that Dresden has a large offensive line. Should be an interesting matchup because Milan's Defensive line lived in Huntingdon's backfield last Friday night. Just ask Hunt. about #69. He wreaked havoc. Last Friday night proved the fact that Milan has too many offensive weapons for a team to key on one or two players. Milan racked up almost 400 yards in total offense against a defense that was allowing less than ten points per game. This much said, Dresden better bring it's "A" game on defense, offense, and special teams. Milan will be ready to solidify the region with a win between these two undefeated teams. Milan wins, 42-21. GO DAWGS!
  23. IN reference to the furtherest distance traveled to this game, people from all over West TN will be coming to see "The Game of the Year". Have heard that a former player is coming from East TN. Also, some current players have relatives coming from the Nashville area. One current player has a cousin and family coming from Columbus, GA (ca. 375 miles). Should be "a whale of a game." Can't wait for Friday night. GO DAWGS!
  24. About running up the score, Last Friday night between Milan and Trenton it was 42-0 at halftime. In the third quarter Milan's 1st "O" took the ball and drove to within the ten yard line. At that point Coach Jeff Morris put in the 2nd "O". Seems to me that this was a "class act" by a "class coach." Milan's 1st "O" did not return to the field until Trenton had scored 28 pts. on Milan's 2nd and 3rd team defense with their 1st team "O". Milan could very well have kept the 1st "O" in and run up the score and left the 1st defense in to prevent a shutout. However, when you have class you win with dignity and not purposely try to annihilate your opponent. As a side note, Rod Smith, Co-player of the week in 2A, had most of his yards in just one half of the ballgame and one series in the second. GO DAWGS!
