  1. As for tradition and winning brentwood ( i believe ) has never lost to centennial. Will Centennial be able to beat brentwood this year? had a chance last year too bad. brentwood has the strongest team this year then it has had in a while, also speed. they got lots of it. just cant wait for the "Friday Night Lights," to Fire up and let the talking played out on "The Field." thumb
  2. yah we are. Farragut will be playing this year and hopefully we will contend with them. though rumors of new york teams, ohio, and maryland teams will be at the tournament in Louisville. but that is up in the air.
  3. I would say anything Warrior because they make the best, most durable, affordable products out there. my weapon of choice either is a Blade(warrior) with Rocket Pocket (ordered seperately) or Evolution(warrior) with Mini Monster Mesh (no its not duramesh either). all on a KryptoPro Kevlar shaft.
  4. Brentwood is gonna come out strong with new staff of former college players( Airforce, Hamilton, Kenyon, Korean National Team-played in World Cup in Australia in 2002). Defense will be strong with all returning starters and very athletic Long poles(Anthony Montileon, Johnathon Fredi, Tyler Heath, Jack Parks, Kevin Schuchard). Offense has 2 returning Attackman (Kyle Skiera and Pearson Davis (allstate nominee) after losing All-state Brian Powers (UT) but brother Chris Powers(Junior) will pick up where his brother Chris left off. Middies should be strong with Junior Brian Lillie (summer league allstar MVP14-16) ; Seniors Chris Lewis(allstate), Justin Loecher, Ryan Morris, and Taylor Cappadona and Freshman Matt Hayes(Former woodland Middle starter who helped the warriors when the HVAC title last year. Goalie is Vijay (dont ask me to spell his last name ) will be defending between the pipes. The Brentwood Lacrosse Club will be traveling to Louisville, Ky., March 13-14 for the Louisville Ice Breaker where they will try to hone their skills playing some of the best teams in the nation. Good luck to the Bruins and have a succesfull season.
  5. Congrats to those players picked, particularly to Joe Bell who made it apparently for his "special" special teams work. But the 5A selections, if you make Bell the 12th pick, include only two from Middle Tennessee. Seems odd, in the fact if you look at the end of the regular season, at least three teams finished in the top 10. Nobody from Riverdale, Franklin, Dickson County, Brentwood (not even a finalist for 5A Lineman of the Year), Gallatin, etc. I'd be surprised if those schools weren't represented at the meeting, so I guess "The Eastern Block Judges" lined up their votes beforehand. It appears there was no regard as to positions either, just the 12 best looking, or some sort of criteria like that. Anyway. congrats to the players chosen.
  6. the one who's hungry, coachable, team-oriented, not just a goal-setter but a "goal-getter" with the drive to excel and pay the price to be a winner. That could be either one of you.
  7. The last QB that UT was interested in from the state was Ingle Martin, but not necessarily as a QB.
  8. Trust me, that feeling of emptiness will haunt you for years to come. For the first time in your life you will understand the phrase " I've never regretted the things I've done, only the things I didn't do."
  9. First of all Mother, slight correction as it was a Glencliff player. You're right, the defense, once again, saved the day. They held Glencliff to 6 yards rushing and one first down, but the offense. . . Worst execution across the board for the year. Season high in penalties. I don't know if it was lack of focus, over confidence, or bad food before the game, but if they keep it up, we can all cheer for someone else going forward. Fugate ran for over 200, but he must have put up closer to 400 with another 200 called back. It was butt ugly. Abner knew what to do and had jailbreaks all night long. Stupid, stupid, stupid penalties. BTW, hats off to Centennial for upsetting Antioch. Here's to Williamson County 5-A pulling off the victory. Good comeback by Franklin against HL. Stock up on the Prozac for Friday.
  10. As I understand it, he resigned. Fed up.
  11. If there was disparity between the time kept on the field and the time on the scoreboard, and the officials knew it, why was there no correction made to sync those two up? How many games have we witnessed where the officials stop play and say "Please put X seconds on the clock." In a game I witnessed on the high school level last week, and a game not nearly as heated as this, twice they stopped play to communicate with the press box and reset the clock. It is unfair to both teams not to do this and incompetent of the officials to fail and do this.
  12. sportsguy1976- i really appreciate your posts even though many dont believe that brentwood cant pull this one out this week, the franklin game was a fluke brentwood got beat because they got conservative and they tipped the ball into the guys hands and had a wr/db in that shouldnt have been in there (18). P.S. mad props to the wr who tore up there defensive secondary, murray got killed all night. welch is a stud and they are going to kill franklin if they dont get conservative in the flippin third quarter. Keep throwing the ball brentwood!! . so as for this week watch for the bruins to come out pumped and ready to play. also welch will start this week over the stuttering 3rd stringer
  13. Rebel, are you insinuating that I'm stupid, as is the Tennessean, as is the AP poll? Or is it you think ftballkicker is stupid? A stupid opinion is either one that is not supported by accepted truths or facts, or made by someone who is totally ignorant, i.e. "stupid." Last year, I could have characterized your blind obsession as "stupid." Legitmately, an argument can be made for a number of teams being ranked the best in Williamson county. Or is stupid only one that doesn't agree with your view of the world? Chemicals in those Old Navy blue jeans must be scrambling your brain. Personally, I don't think Franklin is as good as they were last year as well. Mexican stand-off.
  14. actually just1np- #22 is a first time player for the bruins, this is his first year to play high-school football. he is a great athlete and a contributor to the bruins success. for a first year starter in one of the biggest and toughest classes to play in then that shows something.
  15. I'm a Bruin fan and I got on one of ours on this subject last year. Don't discuss an injury on these posts. Unless you are a medical professional, you are only speculating and don't know. If he got hurt, he'll undergo an MRI this week and you'll know soon enough. Best wishes to him if he indeed is down for any length of time. Injuries are a part of the game-only the truly lucky teams can escape it damaging what your team could become. Looking forward to a good game between two region and neighborhood rivals. Should be a good crowd.
  16. Props all around to Blackman on a number of points: You have a beautiful campus and a heck of an atmosphere. You're right, it seemed like a battle of the bands all night long. The din was constant. Second, Kenny Meredith is the real deal-you don't bring him down with just one tackle. And where did #25 come from? Your team, particularly the line, played inspired ball. And you have a tremendous kicker that forced Brentwood to defend a short field all night. 50 and 47 yard field goals, near miss on a 57 yarder. Brentwood should some tremendous senior leadership the second half. Van Horne, Fugate, Moore, Davis, Turner-those guys have taken up what Austen and Co. left behind. Ian, in particular, was dominating. First half was a never-ending series of penalties (Fugates 57yard TD run in the first series, etc.), fumbles after getting first downs, dropped passes for first downs and big gains, and missed opportunities (near TD falling by one yard short at the end of the first half) horrible field position. Bruins grew up tonight. Blackman, on the other hand, is to be congratulated for not playing the role of the underdog. You played hard and tough and good enough to win. You did not look like the team we saw on film. The rest of your region needs to take you into account. Tremendous effort by both teams. Great coaching job on both sides.
  17. Boy, you go away for a weekend and all heck breaks loose! First of all Irishfan44, from looking at the number of posts you have, you clearly don't know what has been said or written about Brentwood for the past year. Oh yea, there are some haters as there always will be. There is also a lot of misinformation thrown around as fact (scheduling). Bottom line is Brentwood does get respect, but looses some everytime someone who supports them goes off half cocked and makes statements that have no basis. They won the 5A championship on the field, and are the defending champs until they are knocked off. They have a very good team again this year, and have dominated two subpar teams to this point as was expected. When the season ends and the smoke clears, then you can crow or eat it. Until then-chill. By the way, we all had this talk about scheduling a long time ago. Multiple factors come into play, nonetheleast is a coach's relationship with other coaches in the immediate area. They tend to schedule games with friends and/or programs that will offer good gates or have styles they'd like to see their team compete against. Sometimes teams get in a bind and have to have a filler in a schedule. Maybe you have a young team and want them to grow into their schedule. Also, the number of region games you have is set and you can't control that factor. In the recent past, BHS has played against in season: Riverdale, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Glencliff, Antioch, Lincoln County, Germantown, private schools, out of town games in Knoxville and Florida. Not a whole lot of ducking, IMO. But what you choose to believe is your business. Move on a good luck.
  18. Interesting fact about Spartans-they had a very rigid social structure, where the warriors (men) would go off by themselves and train. They would take young boys into their fold, mentor them, and then take them as lovers. The boys would then be assimilated back into Spartan society, where women were running the show. So their entire developmental period was spent in an illicit relationship with men, and then they were supposed to procreate with a gender they never had contact with! So in literal fact, Spartans refer to Gay Warriors in a militaristic society where women ruled the roost! Point being, that given the opportunity, any "nickname" can have a negative connotation. Keep the Rebel name-redneck is being a nuisance. Now how about the Washington Redskins?
  19. I believe the latin phrase is "nolo contendre."
  20. Due to the tremendous thunderstorms, a number of Midstate games were post-poned to be played later today. Coaches out there-surely you study the film up until that point. How much does strategy change and do you try to get the kids in early to go over changes? How much changing or tinkering do you risk? Or do you let the kids go as they were coached all week? Thoughts. And BTW, Good luck Big Red tonight-stop those invaders from the North!
