  1. Well, I'll admit I wasn't around for last year's scrimmage, but I don't recall many Riverdale "victories" in as many year's as they've been scrimmaging. The 2003 scrimmage was as lopsided, if not more so, in the other direction.
  2. Riverdale beat MBA "handily" when????? Sorry, not so.

Do you honestly think that anyone believes any of this crap? You're taking this thing down the toilet. What are you trying to accomplish?

    Clinic Bowl

Signs that read "Excuses, Excuses" and "There won't be any excuses this time around" don't exactly "help the state of affairs", either. They had it coming. That was a real ingenius move, by the way. As if MBA needed any more motivation.... Roll Red!!!!!

    BA vs. MBA

Anybody who says this is either a) poorly attempting to justify what happened at the end of the game or lying.
  7. 1976??? 1978???? In 1970, MBA was ranked #1 in the nation. Who cares? You're talking about 25-30 years ago. Of course, if you want to play that game, in 1919 MBA went undefeated and wasn't scored upon. How did Maryville do in 1919?
  8. Huh? Yeah, those '98, '99, and '00 MBA teams were terrible.

    Super 7

Thank you, Redtwin. I've already tried explaining this to them. They don't seem capable of comprehending. Beating the MBA team of the first half (or maybe even 3/4) of 2002 (which D-B wasn't even able to do....yet, BGA and Baylor did) would be the equivalent of beating Baylor or Ryan this year. The 2001 team....which D-B did beat....went 6-4. Neither was close to the "cream of the crop" in Super 7. Hey, 64TNChamp, enjoyed your comments. A question, though....if MBA's blocking and tackling were "atrocious" and BA ran the ball "like a TX team or DLS", then how come MBA averaged more yards per carry (at 5.6) than BA did? MBA is simply more balanced. Without comparing football state to state, which is so hard to do, I doubt there are 25 teams as capable of running OR throwing the ball as well as MBA is. Some could obviously throw for 300 a game regularly and some could easily run for 300 a game, but I doubt there are many as balanced.
  10. You guys are geniuses. Glad I started this. Are there any fans of these players who would actually like to tell us a little bit about them?
  11. I agree. I am the furthest thing from a UT fan, but I continue to be surprised at some of the in-state kids they "pass" on. As far as other TN kids Vanderbilt is looking at, I know that they are staying in touch with a bunch of them. They would really like to land Lincoln County's Lamar Divens, for one.
  12. Yet, TN high school football still gets no respect....
  13. Wrong. I specifically said yesterday...and I quote..."All we had to do was get off a decent long snap and we wouldn't be having this discussion." It could also be mentioned that the snap before that one rolled back to the punter (that's probably why the last one was high....overcompensation). But, it doesn't matter. What happened...happened. Yes, we need to play for 48 minutes, but the officials need to officiate for 48 minutes, too. As for the OT field goal attempt, I have a hard time placing too much criticism there. That's the hardest kick in the game.....short kick, right hash, right-footed kicker. Very tough kick.
  14. I meant to post this earlier today. Obviously, as someone already stated, this thread has gotten way off-topic. I just don't understand why the Maryville fans are getting all worked up over not getting enough "love" as many haven't included them in their Top Five. That takes absolutely nothing away from the fact that Maryville has a very good team, a great tradition, a solid program, and a very impressive win streak. That doesn't mean they aren't one of the ten best, or the twenty best. What difference does it really make? Either way, it's pretty elite company. I just don't think they are one of the five best teams in TN. IMO, they'd barely crack the Top Five in D-II. Forget all the 5A teams that would have something to say about it. I simply think that MBA, BA, and CBHS are a cut above everybody else....THIS year. I think Lincoln County has the experience and talent, but I still think they're a notch below D-II's top three.
  15. Wes, you honestly think that had MBA gone on to win in overtime we wouldn't be having this discussion? I beg to differ. I'm over it, considering there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it. What keeps occasionally dragging me back, however, are the repeated attempts to justify the call and the refusal to admit that it was absolutely horrific, incompetent officiating.
  16. Yeah, you're right. That's MBA's problem....coaching. They've been winning on size and talent all these years. You win. Maryville's the best.
  17. RRR, help me out on that Lincoln County game in 2000 (I think it was). I left with about 5 minutes to go and I want to say MBA led something like 22-0. Up to that point, MBA had held LC to probably around 50-60 yards of total offense, but had lost at least 3 fumbles deep in LC territory to stop scoring drives. Then, in the last five minutes, LC recovered 2 (?) onside kicks and scored twice (or maybe three times) against the scrubs to make the score look respectable. Didn't it end 22-15, 22-20, something like that?
  18. It's hard to keep track. I guess it was '98, then, when Santonio was a senior and we played at PC. Santonio broke a long 80+ yarder for a TD early on, but finished the game under 100 yards. MBA held him to around 10-15 yards the rest of the game. I recently watched a replay of the '98 MBA-BA title game. I continue to be amazed at the talent on that field. There must have been 25-30 future 1-A or 1-AA players on that field. I mean, the sophomores who barely saw the field included David Harrison, Ingle Martin, Moses Osemwegie, etc. Dominique Morris was the Big Red Dog!!!!!!!
  19. Whatever. You just happened to conveniently pick two games against two of MBA's weaker teams of the past 10 years. You conveniently leave out all of the other dominating wins by MBA over 4A and 5A public schools, such as their dismantling of the likes of Oakland and Lincoln County down in "The Pit" in 2000 (?). If you think those teams you list could've easily stood toe-to-toe with most of the recent MBA teams (particularly '98-'00 and '03), then you aren't watching the same football I am. FWIW, the best public school I've seen MBA play in the last 5-6 years was the '98 (?) Pearl-Cohn team with both Santonio Beard and John Henderson. That was a solid team. Of course, MBA won that one, too.
  20. Absolutely not. While I still think MBA is the best team in the state, there can certainly be some debate amongst MBA, BA, and CBHS. Those three are a cut above everybody else.
  21. Year in and year out? Sure. This year. I simply don't think so (not with MBA, BA, and CBHS, at least). While I'm not sure where you're coming up with a 3-1 record in favor of DB over MBA (maybe you're talking about the all-time series), the two most recent DB-MBA games involved probably the two "worst" MBA teams of the last 10 years. The 2001 team was probably Ricky Bowers' worst and that game ended in a DB overtime win. Likewise, the MBA team of the first half of 2002 was not a good team. Baylor and BGA both beat MBA and rolled up well over 300 rushing yards. That was a very young MBA team with a new coach that impoved as the year went on (especially once the playoffs started) and ended up winning the D-II championship. But, at the start of last year, they were terrible....yet still beat DB.
  22. That game didn't "prove" that anybody was "overrated". Maybe it proved that BA was underrated. I agree that national polls are a waste of time, but that doesn't mean MBA's ranking isn't legitimate.
  23. I agree. I've wasted way too much time. Onward.... Roll Red
  24. Oh, well that settles it then, by gosh. This "justification" would be absolutely hilarious, if it weren't so pitiful.
