I would think that the TSSAA would have picked the officials for this game and they not necessarily be from region 4.

This game sounds intense. Sounds like bad refs and another Smyrna semi final decided by a fumble late in the game.

I am curious to know. When was the last time a team from East TN played in the 5A championship game and then when was the last time a team from East TN won it in 5A. It seems that for the past 7 years or so that teams from the east (Kingsport DB for example) always have good regular season record but when they are matched up with the Middle TN team in the semi's they go down and sometimes go down big. I know in 5A it's hard to argue against the fact that the quality of football is better in middle TN.

Im sure Bearden has a great defense, but Im also sure that they have never played an offense as athletic as Smyrna's. Rod, Sonny, Jeremiah Bryson are all DI recruits. Bryson will come later as he is only a freshman. Something else to remember is that in the last 4 years Smyrna has sent recruits to SEC schools.

Cna someone explain why Smyna would host the state championship if they won too? I thought state was at MTSU like always.

I hate ties as much as the next guy but if it is not a region game or a playoff game I say let it be a tie and take the aggression out on the next team you play.

I must say this game was pretty uneventful. Im a fan of playing defense but not a fan of watching it unless there are consistently huge hits. Also, I really really really HATE the wing T with a passion. Oakland suprised me. I think if they passed more the game might have been closer.

More and more high schools across the country are switching from grass to field turf. It cost more to install but is a lot cheaper to maintain and it doesnt get affected by weather elements like rain or snow. You can wear cleats just like on a grass field too so buying more shoes for the team is unnecessary and the paint washes off easy so changing the lines for different sports s not hard at all.

I would argue that this is definitely not the same Riverdale or Smyrna. The same riverdale would not have had to struggle to beat Siegel. The same Smyrna also would not have kept its composure at Columbia to win that game or Brentwood either. Also to be noted is that this group of seniors is the first group of freshman to beat Riverdale in consecutive years. This is more even too considering the coaches history from when Smyrna played against Hillsboro every year.

On another note. After watching Smyrna play last night and looking at scores from around the state, I wouldnt be suprised if Smyrna's first real test doesnt come until they play Ravenwood. Then Riverdale is obviously the one theyve been wanting for a long time.

I think this is the first time Ive ever had a perfect week. I thought the games were pretty easy to pick this week but appearantly not so I feel a lot better now.
