  1. Drew Hayes's season stats are good enough to make him a finalist!! His career plays in some as it does with all candidates. If you want to talk about players who just might deserve some consideration but, aren't getting it, ask the folks in Camden about a kid named Josh Boyd.
  2. Naaaaaaah, the Reignman is easy to find. He'll be in his office on HIS computer. Have you noticed how annoying WesCharge is or is it just me?????
  3. The only 1A back nominated and a finalist that I know anything about is Drew Hayes. So I won't try to act informed and say why he is better than the other two finalists. I will say this, Drew is a serious and dedicated athlete and the best high school quarterback I've ever seen play and I've seen a lot of 'em. True, he's not a burner when he has to run the ball--------neither is Peyton Manning! For a bit over 3 seasons he has gotten the job done for the Rebels from McKenzie though. He may never play on a state championship team but, his numbers don't lie and he has competed against as good overall competition in class AA and A as anyone in the state during his time at the helm of the Rebels. In my book, he's earned the honor!
  4. Not meant to take anything away from any of the other backs nominated, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Josh has been a good 'un and deserves the recognition. One of the best backs I've seen (and I'm not from Camden so this isn't prejudice)!
  5. lilyo865, Glad your teammate with the knee injury (torn ligaments) is gonna be OK. That's the best bad news I've heard today. I had a similar injury in HS and made it OK 'till I was in my 40's. I eventually had to have it scoped but, I'm still kickin'. You guys are startin' to confuse me. Two different handles on here. I wonder if I'm talkin' to Roderick or Steve. I also agree that both of ya'll played good D up here. That's why I came out there after the game. I just didn't know I was talkin' to two guys all week. I thought I was just talkin' to one basically. You did mention both of you though. Just curious, is Ole Miss interested in Vaughn as a DB or QB??? My guess would be DB but.....?? I've only seen him once so I don't have much to base it on.
  6. Hayes was 15 of 21 for 231 yards and 4 TDs and 0 pics.
  7. Hey #55 and #50. Ya'll both played some good D up here. I'm glad I came out and met you two after the game. Manassas doesn't have a lot of playoff experience and that might be the main difference. When a team gets jumped on early and often like ya'll did it's easy for a lot of the team to lay down on you early. I didn't see ya'll quit completely. I saw a lot of heart on the field last Friday night from ya'll. Ya'll played as hard as you could for 48 minutes. I have to agree that all your teammates may not have left it all on the field up here. That happens. A lesson learned for next season for them. Yeah, I know how it feels to play your last game myself no matter what level it's at. I have looked back far too many times. I had a chance in college but wasn't happy with the situation so I came home. Both of you are better men for your time on the field in the pads and the people you have met along the way. Ya'll might even get a shot at the next level. Try it if it comes. My girlfriend lives in Memphis and I'm down there fairly often. Maybe we'll run into each other again sometime and I'll still smile and shake ya'lls hand. The two of you made an impression on this 'ol Rebel last Friday night. How is the kid who hurt his knee doing??
  8. Hey GP, We're in for the LONG haul this season in the stands. Ya'll make the first two opening days of duck season miserable for me (that will be weeks 4 and 5)!!!! It's tough on us older guys to go duck huntin' at 4:30 AM after a long drive home from a ballgame. Ya'll take us to the 'Boro and I'll prolly sleep in the next day. We'll be there with ya'll!!!! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!
  9. Thanks mrbigster, We'll be proud to have your support next week if you can make it. Don't know what to tell you about last night on ya'lls end? I couldn't believe the score. Ya'll are much better than that but, we are talkin' about high school kids too. Anything might happen. Manassas played us with a ton of heart and never gave up but, they just weren't up for the task. It was 33-6 at the half and we had already pretty much called the dogs off by then!! Next season, ya'll will probably be considered at the top of the heap in the region in pre-season. I think we'll be pretty solid next season but, we'll have to see how that goes. If you're comin' to Jackson next Friday, get on one of our threads and give me a heads up. We'll try to meet up before the game or something. What's happened to lakecountyfalconfan??? Haven't seen him around much lately (but, I haven't been on ya'lls threads a lot either so.......). Later man.
  10. One last thought on the game last night Rebels. That was the best OVERALL team effort I've seen from a McKenzie Rebel football team in 2-3 years last night. I know it felt as good to ya'll as it did to us fans in the stands. Congrats to all you players on the job ya'll did!!! Keep it up for 3 more weeks and we'll be on our way to the 'Boro for the BIG show!!
  11. Class post GP!! You played a good 'un last night!! All of ya'll did!! I'll also, second your complement toward Manassas. They are a class act on the field. They played hard and never quit for 48 minutes.
  12. Congrats BDP from Mckenzie!!! 'Ol V&T1 has us hooked up and I'm good with that. We spanked Manassas 48-12 tonight!! Maybe we can cheer each other on to the 'Boro this season.
  13. Thanks for your support, we'll do what we can. Got a big test next week against JCS at Jackson. But, hey, the REBEL MAGIC has kicked in now!!!! I ain't sayin' what I'm thinkin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll tell ya'll when it matters! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. To my two new friends from Manassas, You know who you are---- #55 (Roderick) and #50 (Steve), Ya'll played with a LOT of heart tonight. Ya'll have a team full of athletes. It was great to meet ya'll after the game. You both played your hearts out and I told ya'll I'd honor that. I wish both of you the best in your future. You both represented your school and your team and your home town (well, Memphis isn't exactly a "town") well tonight!!!!!!!!!!! I sincerely hope #76 ( I think that was his # ) is OK and comes out of the knee injury OK. We could probably use ya'lls support from here on out. We have to go up against JCS next Friday night. Anyway, it was cool meetin' ya'll. Glad I came on out on the field after the game.
  15. Woooooooooo! HOW 'BOUT THEM REBELS!!!!!!!!!!! Defense, ya'll made me proud tonight!!!! I saw what I been lookin' for from ya'll tonight! GREAT job to ALL the defense!!!! Whew, I'm speechless (I have been since about half time!) JCS is next on the Rebel hit list. Get the job done Rebels. Ya'll made a believer out of this 'ol Rebel tonight. get the job done now. We're right there with ya'll every step of the way. Rebel Magic!!!!!!!!!!!! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I know all you Lake Co. fans are gone to the game by now but, good luck tonight from McKenzie. I'll be up there on the 'foot Sunday workin' on duck blinds and I want to see smilin' faces!!!!!!!!!!! We have our work cut out for us too with that OTHER team from down that way!!!!! Go get your rematch with Union City, Falcons!!! Tha' Killer Duck, Grrrrrrrr, Quack, Quack!!!!!!!
  17. Hey ya'll, see all you guys at the game tonight!!! Sure wish I was still playin'!!! I've had that old "Friday Feeling" all afternoon!!!! If you've played, you know what I'm talkin' about!!!! It's gonna be important for the Rebels to play their "game of the season so far" tonight. It's time to make believers out of some Shelby county folks tonight!!! Make 'em feel like they have just had a horror movie experience when they climb back on their bus to go home---------Thankful to be gettin' out of McKenzie with their hides!!! Rebels, ya'll have it in you. Find it tonight and get it out. Keep it out 'till ya'll get through at the 'Boro! It's time for Rebel Pride to take over. Play from the heart. OK ya'll, I'm ready! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!
  18. Good luck to the Blue Devils also from the Rebel herd over here in the West End!!!!
  19. Union City is losing a ton of players too. It could be tough for them next season.
  20. I hear you. This should be a good 'un!!!! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Thanks, just curious. Now I know better what to expect.
  22. Me 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the Rebels on the field are as ready as us fans, we'll be in good shape. This will be a good game and I expect to see a lot of points put on the board. It's gettin' to be a lot of fun to watch. Different but, fun!! GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tha' Killer Duck; Grrrrrrrrr, Quack, Quack
  23. Oh yeah, on a more serious note, what offensive sets do ya'll run??? What % pass to run??
  24. Have ya'll played Huntingdon, Union City, Lake Co. (and another team or two we have.)?? Nope. Those are some serious physical teams. We've even been known to be a bit physical ourselves. That's a useless point to talk about anyway. Both teams will come to play and it won't be powder puff ball on either side. You're right, we've had 40+ hung on us 6 times. And we did lose 2 (TWO) of those games in the middle of the season to Huntingdon and Union City. BUT, we won 4 of those games!!!!!! Guess that's because we scored more points than those other 4 teams---------HUH!? The last 4 games, we have changed our offensive approach and it's gettin' wild now. There is no way for ya'll to prepare for our offense simply because ya'll don't have a Drew Hayes throwing and our receivers catching in ya'll practices. It seems like we have faced speed backs every week of the season so far so that is no surprise. We haven't claimed to have the best D in the world but, they have been just good enough when they had to be to get us to 7-3 overall. Just for the record, I'm not a player, I'm a fan. I've done my playing for the Rebels. So has my son. So I'll be in the stands watching Friday nite. Wear whatever # you like but, I apppreciate the thought of your wearing #55 just for me. I'll be watching. Win or lose, if you do a good job in the game and I see you, I'll be the first to shake your hand and tell you you played a good game. We expect it to be a good game. Good luck to both teams and I hope both teams come out of it healthy. GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
